My childhood summed up in scoops of ice cram!!! The PenPals!! 128525 No fail our go-to for special occasion, usually during my parents anniversary. 10084

Through the years the price of this beauty has gone up, now up to P1,800. But it's the memories that keep us coming back for more. 19 scoops of ice cream and sherbet plus marshmallows and fruits! And chocolate wafer sticks! Love in every bite, even if you don't know the flavor you're digging into! 10024

Had dinner here with a friend, one night that we were in the mood to splurge--from both a budget and diet standpoint. I was in awe Manila Pen's grand lobby and have always been amazed with its grandeur. I love looking at its ceiling, with the majestic sun design, along with the other arrangements that contribute to this place's brilliance.

Anyway 128513 I ordered the Peninsula Club while my friend ordered the Pen Beef Burger. I'm fond of sandwiches and I feel like I've ordered one in any restaurant that offered this dish. I can say that this was one of the best I've tasted--quality ingredients, huge serving size. I got to taste the burger too and the beef was seasoned and cooked perfectly, medium rare style. Our orders also came with these miniature Heinz catsup, mayo and mustard, which I found really cute.

Apart from the remarkable ambiance, delicious food, and good customer service, one other thing that The Lobby offered was the live, classical music. SO soothing and relaxing! 128525

Overall and amazing experience! Will surely give it another try 128522

It was my brother in law's birthday and we just finished having our dinner at RUB. We didn't find anything interesting for dessert on their menu so we decided to go to Manila Pen to get all time favorite - PENPALS!!! 128513

I'm not sure when they start decorating for Christmas, but this month they've already put up their humungous Christmas tree and other Christmas decor as well at the lobby. It really felt like the Holiday season is coming plus there's also a live band playing some Christmas songs. Perrrrfect!! It took some time before 2 orders of Penpals came, but it wasn't a big deal since we loved the ambiance.

The "PenPals" has 19 scoops of Manila Peninsula's mouth watering homemade ice cream served on a huge bowl topped with fruits, marshmallows, wafer sticks, whipped cream drizzled with chocolate syrup! *inhales* Who would say no to that, right?! 128514

Of all the scoops, my favorite is their raspberry sherbet. Then the cantaloupe and grapes are my go-to toppings. 128515

What's yours? 128522

The Pen burger. Really juicy beef patty. I think we had it cooked medium well, as recommended by our server. We didn't hold off on any of the toppings. We decided to have it split since we also ordered their iconic halo-halo, which we didn't get to finish. Good thing my friend had the hotel privilege card which gave us a 50% discount on our bill.

Ambience is just perfect what with the live music being played on the balcony overlooking the lobby. Great way to relax after a stressful day at the office.

Right after spices, we decided to chill at the lobby and have coffee 9786️ and just cause we don't want to go home yet!128514
I really love pen's lobby it's dim lit and very cozy, i love the design 128525
I used to work for shangri-la makati but i like pen's lobby more 1285149996🏻️

My friends ordered coffee but i opt for water, super bloated nako 128061 Funny thing that happened that night, while we were chit chatting the waiters recognized our friends (they used to be interns in peninsula) and greeted them after a while they came back with this huge cheescake!128514 (perks of visiting your previous workplace haha!) while singing happy birthday to Mariel 128514 they're so sweet and cute because they really made an effort with matching tambourins and shakers pa 128516
Yey for free cake!128525 Thank you lobby team!128522

One of the worst deserts I've had. I was craving for something sweet and wanted wine in the middle of the night so I decided to head off to the Pen. This chocolate abomination tasted like mud. Not that I've eaten mud but it's how I would imagine it to taste like. Even the consistency was gross.

Normally I love the desserts at the Pen but this is something inedible. Boo.

Spend Holy Tuesday 2015 with mom and two kids Adelheid L Latrell Joshua L. Mom Elaine P treat us at The Lobby of The Peninsula Manila. My son wish is to bring him here at Peninsula Hotel. We've been to different hotel in and out of the metro but my kids haven't been here but for me, its not my first time, i was able to attend the British Council Xmas party way back ago and the venue is at the Peninsula. Wish granted for my little boy.

Our second reason aside from my son wants to see how Manila Pen looks like is for the halo-halo. They serve huge halo-halo here. We got two Harana Halo-Halo127848 its good for sharing, two people to be precise. Price is around 500 i think then we had afternoon tea set.

We love high tea. 9749️ Its one of our favorite bonding with mom. This is our 3rd afternoon tea bonding. First at Edsa Shang, second at Fairmont Makati. This time, its a different afternoon tea set, we had Thai Afternoon tea, sounds new right? Yes first time to try Thai afternoon tea. It consist of Thai inspired sweet pastries127856127838 and savory delicacies accompanied by a tea of your choice and we got our fave jasmine tea, good taste and smell as ever. This cost around 1t++++.

The Lobby looks elegant and the place was relaxing. Great service and has wifi too. Perfect place to unwind and sip a cup of tea and delish pastries12807710084127860

600pesos for an order of halo-halo??? 128563128563128563

We just had to try their halo-halo here when we checked in at The Manila Pen last month. It was included on the list of top halo-halo in the metro. Thank God it didn't disappoint. One of the best I've tried!!! 128077 Aba dapat lang, ang mahal nya eh! 128563128299

A serving can be good for two people. Share the calories na rin diba. 128514 I shared mine with my sister so the server noted to split it to two glasses. They obviously didn't scrimp on ingredients. I love the leche flan on top! Aaaaaahh!! 128525

Our bill reached around P3k++ I think for 3 orders of halo-halo, a banana split and a bowl of wanton noodles. 128557

Halo-halo is the best in Manila. Also if you are part of a big group, try penpal. 19 scoops of creamy ice cream goodness.

My nachos were super tasty but the service is really slow.
The lobby usually has really good bread baskets but the one we got was served cold and it was very dry. The only thing I loved about the lobby is the Christmas decors and the music.

Beautiful Christmas decorations and carolers tonight.

But... For a 5 star restaurant I expect their service to be excellent

Kept having to call the waiters for the menu and the water

Bread basket wasn't warm

Service is taking way too long for my soup

the nachos are amazing definitely worth the wait
The sashimi/ sushi platter was nothing great. Rice was dry. Slices of tuna and salad weren't properly cut.

I come here mainly because I love the ambience, it's really worth going to just for that.

Good thing we have the peninsula card which gets us a lot of discount!

There is no harking back to sweltering summers spent huddled over a tall glass of halo-halo as I only grew to like this dessert around 5 years ago. I was then working in Singapore and my local friends kept on harping about their es kacang, which I soon discovered was very similar to our halo-halo, although our version is brimming with so much more ingredients. Thereafter, no trip back to Manila would be complete without a visit to a Filipino restaurant with a glass of halo-halo to cap the meal. So OFW, I know!

At Php425 (up by P25 from last year only), Manila Pen’s iconic Halo-Halo Harana is the most expensive halo-halo I know, although it is large enough to be shared. It is as I remember it to be. The leche flan is soft and silky, while the ube ice cream is creamy. The jackfruit and beans are firm yet sweet. I also spied some ube halaya, bananas, and macapuno. It's infinitely better than some of the watered down halo-halo's I've had the misfortune of trying, but it's not the best-tasting. Manila Pen however offers the best ambience, what with the live string quartet playing broadway hits from the second floor and impeccably dressed staff always ready to assist. Btw, the men were so adorably cute today with their pink ties (real men wear pink) and even the lions which stood guard at the driveway had large pink bows in support of the breast cancer awareness month. 128077
