Baler is synonymous with surfing! The beach is littered with surfboards and body boards! Bring your rash guard and your will and be careful of the strong undercurrent!128077128515 Other than watersports galore, it's a nature lovers' haven in general... You can visit rock formations near Diguisit beach, check out the shrine at Ermita Hill, and even trek to Ditumabo Falls (which I have yet to do and of note, it is pretty far from the beach already)...

If you are a history buff, you can opt for a historical walking tour of Baler town proper... They have a park, a church and a musuem in the area, though it's pretty easy to hit these spots in a few hours...

But you can't leave Baler without passing by the Milenium Tree... It's a huge balete tree in the middle of a papaya plantation... The road to the tree is a bit muddy, but a little mud never hurt anyone... It's a ~600 year old balete tree, with lots of roots that you can sit on if you are inclined... You can actually go inside the tree, in between the massive roots... But beware of the insects that have made this tree thier home base!128514 They say this tree is one of the largest in Asia, which is cool... It's voted as one of the creepiest trees in our country, along with (you guessed it) the one along Balete drive... And of course, the mythical creatures that live in the tree is part of the draw... Kapre, diwata at dwende, according to the locals...

As you can see, it's a pretty wide tree trunk! It would take more people to surround it!128515

A bit far from Baler around 30 minutes by tricycle but it was worth the visit. They have a tour guide who really take good pictures and they even know the camera trick hahaha. 20 pesos entrance fee i also gave the tour guide a tip. They allow you to go inside the tree.

This "Millennium Tree" is claimed to be the largest Balete tree (strangler fig) in Asia at 200 ft tall and 49 ft in diameter. It is estimated to be about 600+ years old.
