Jap food makes me happy. Thanks Booky for the P500 discount I was able to devour on some good Jap food within budget!!

What we ordered:
✔️ Philly Roll (the one featured) - made up of salmon, avocado and cream cheese. It was good and I really liked it though I didnt really taste the avocado in it. Despite it having sesame seeds (THAT WASNT ON THE DESCRIPTION), i still liked it. I had to manually remove the sesame seeds just so my friend could eat it. Sesame seeds hunting is not fun especially when it's that size and the rice was too sticky, it did not help ease the process!!!

✔️ Chicken Teriyaki Bento - This one is one of the most sulit meals. For P320, you get to have your miso soup, rice, chicken teriyaki, salad, vegetable tempura (camote tempura), dessert and iced tea!! Please ask for extra teriyaki sauce to make the experience better!!! Though I must warn you guys, Red Dot is a bit matipid when it comes to Teriyaki Sauce. 128517 nagpadagdag ka na nga, kulang pa din. 128517

✔️ Grilled Japanese Corn - I love corn!!! I was given three choices for the seasoning - wasabi, chili flakes or salt. I opted for Chili Flakes but was served with wasabi instead. I still liked it despite the waiter getting my order wrong. The corn was sweet and it was really yummy!!! Oh how I love eating corn.

✖️ Spicy Tuna Salad - If you've already tried the one from Omakase, please do not order this. It is nothing comparable to the quality and taste of the one from Omakase. I wouldn't really recommend it because 1) it didnt have tuna chunks 2) it wasnt spicy 3) it lacked dressing. I'm not really hard to please when it comes to salad because it's one of the basic and simplest stuff that could make a belly happy but this one is really an exemption. :( it didnt meet my standards... didnt even make it halfway. :( it's probably a 2/10 for me.

Despite the mishaps we had, I would still say that this restaurant is a pretty cool place to chill. We stayed outside and loved the ambiance!!! Oh btw, their Izakayas are also good and sulit 128521

It's a nice space, albeit the chairs at the middle tables are too small for comfort. But what I had was good--teriyaki chicken and chawan mushi. I love the clean flavors. :)

Service and ambience was great. but the food? not really though.. We ordered bento box filled with tonkatsu, pork and chicken. the miso soup was great and the veggies were fine. but the main meat was not so much and the sauce has a bitter ending. That was the biggest question mark. It was a nice try and hoping that they could improve a little bit more those parts. ;)

Are you working anywhere near Palanca St, Legazpi Village? Well if you are, this place is a new substitute to the very popular Bar&Restaurant, Plantation.

Red Dot has been in the area for quite some time but it has not been as popular as Plantation. It will not be the first on your mind if you're looking for a place to have drinks after a stressful day but I'm telling you, this place is worth it!!

The one featured here is the Crispy Squid (P240). It was a different take on the Calamari that we are so used to. This was tossed in Teriyaki Sauce served with coleslaw and Shrimp Crackers (kropek). It was really really good and it went well with the drinks that we ordered -Smirnoff mule, Pale and their one-of-a-kind cocktails!!!

We also tried their Tori Karaage (P290). It was also as good as the Crispy Squid but I think we ordered this without thinking that maybe it would just taste the same as the Crispy Squid. The only diff would be the main ingredients which is the Chicken and the Squid.

I liked the ambiance of this place, they had background music playing but it wasn't too loud or chaotic. The place was also not as packed or crowded as the other places along Palanca St. The very efficient and friendly waiters were also a big plus as to why I loved this place!!! I've always loved Plantation and Plantation alone but this time, I'd have to say that I found my new love next to my first love 9786

Food is really good, but service is SLOW. As in SLOW. As in 40 minutes for a Katsudon SLOW. Don't come here on an empty stomach.

🔴 The Red Dot 🔴 Chanced upon this new Japanese bistro near the office and had the beef saikoro bento, tempura bento, and oyakodon. The beef was tasty but the oyakodon was just okay. Tempura could have had better portions (only 2pcs). The free iced tea tasted more like slightly sweetened water. The quality could be felt with the beef and prawns, but the portioning vs the price could be more "sulit" especially for the bento meals. Even the miso soup was only half a bowl 128533

They had an omakase option on the menu where the chef would be given a free hand to cook for you from appetizer to dessert, but no price indicated! Asked the waiter and he wasn't too sure about how that went about so he asked the chef. He then came back with vague details like... minimum P500 and its more of a tasting menu, etc. I asked what i could get for P500-P600 and i still couldn't get a straight or definite answer. So nevermind... i ended up getting a bento as i thought i probably wouldnt end up happy ordering something not knowing how much or what kind of food i'd be served.

Funny story: they only have one restroom inside WITHOUT any sign indicating if it was for men or women! So i assumed it was a "unisex" restroom, especially with the sliding main doorway mostly half open and the interior visible. There were 2 lockable and concealed cubicles inside. When using the restroom, i did kind of feel awkward seeing 128584 women go in and out, using the sink, and hearing 128585 them use the cubicle right beside mine. But i shrugged it off, and my friends (we were all boys btw) followed suit to use the restroom as well with the same assumption. One friend even fell in line by the doorway behind 2 girls for his turn to use the sink. We did share with each other how awkward it felt though and got a few good laughs about it.

It was only a while after we were done, when i saw a lady talk to the sushi chef nearby clarifying if this was a unisex restroom or for men/women, as she prolly felt uncomfortable too. Next thing i saw, another dude tried to use the restroom but was stopped and instructed that the male restroom was outside in the building lobby. At that point i felt soooo embarrassed that i wanted to bill out and leave asap! Tawa kami ng tawa out of embarrassment pero wala eh, it happened already and it was an honest mistake. 9996

This restaurant is about a month old (used to be The Balcony) it's newly renovated, modern, a little too dark for lunchtime office crowd 128521 Ummm.. The menu looked promising, they have bento box sets appetizers, salad, sashimi, maki etc..

So we started off with:

- Chawanmushi - Egg Custard, pretty standard right? Well, surprised to find out they used almond nougat & soy caramel 128563 Making it extra sweet 128557 I felt I was having taho... I'm sorry, maybe I'm just not adventurous, I still prefer my Chawanmushi the old fashioned way.

- Spicy Tuna Salad - 128070🏼easy enough, throw in some veggies, tuna tartare & dressing...But no! They had to include "crispy rice" W/c was more kunat than crispy 128553 I so didn't appreciate rice with my salad, such a weird combination for me 128513

- Ika Sashimi - (Squid) - not tender at all 128529

- Chicken Teriyaki bento - this was just ok, came with miso soup (half full ang bowl) and some tiny side potato dish and 3 pieces of grape & a slice of orange..

Prices are pretty expensive considering the quality of food. Cash basis only and they don't even inform the customers 128529128529128529 Definitely my first and last visit. Should've listened to you guys Yina M Kirby G 128541
