Happy Christmas Loolooers! I just got back from a 1N2D staycation with my family at Selah Garden Hotel. I haven't blogged about this hotel yet but I figured I should go ahead and make a Looloo review.
Selah Garden is on soft opening and is set to have an official opening in the last week of January next year. But it has been there for a year now, in fact in Dec 2016, it was the venue of the Christmas party of my team when I was still working in my previous company. I've known about Selah and has been going there since the time it was still being constructed because I happen to be good friends with its manager. You can say that the hotel is special to me because I've basically seen it from the ground up to its current finished state.
So I thought this Christmas I'd treat my family to a staycation and there was no doubt in my mind that Selah is the place to be. I booked the dorm-type room so each one has their own bed. The room has 3 double decks with 6 beds, a/c, a toilet and a shower, wooden lockers, some plastic stool chairs, and a collapsible table. The room is pretty basic really, nothing fancy, but I love that it looks neat and spacious.
We had no problem with our room save for the weak water pressure on the two wash areas (sink). The water pressure was fine though in the shower area. I had fun bathing there because it has a rainshower head and hot&cold water. The rate for the dorm room is PHP 750 per head inclusive of a 15-minute face massage (which we weren't able to try because we got distracted), swimming pool access, and buffet breakfast.
The ambiance of this place is perfect and stays true to its "garden" theme. When you enter it would feel like you went out of the city. Unfortunately the sight of the condo building sitting across from it sorts of ruins the illusion. Nevertheless, it still felt totally relaxing especially if you hang out by the pool area or the swing area behind the pool.
Selah is an ideal place for team-building activities because they have a rock climbing facility. Also, they offer scuba diving courses, the swimming pool has a section in it that is about 10ft deep just for this purpose. You don't have to worry about this deep area when your kids are swimming though because they have a special enclosure that they use to cover it.
I am rating it 4 star instead of 5 star though because I think there are still some areas for improvement. The first would be the food, it was so-so. So do not place high expectations on the buffet because what they're offering is pretty basic (hotdog, corned beef, fried rice, veggies, salad, fruits, coffee, and juice). Considering though that we were only paying 750
per head for our stay, I say it's still a good deal.
I have no problem with the staff, they are all nice and courteous and they would always greet their guests. But yeah, there's one thing I'd like to suggest. I think the receptionist should say, "Welcome, how may I help (or of service to) you?" instead of "Yes ma'am. Ano pong concern nyo?" Because I think that's a weird way of greeting the just arrived guest right? Another point of improvement is the WiFi, it's intermittent, in fact I got disconnected frequently that I gave up and just used my data.
But all in all we had a fun stay and my family loved it. We especially loved the swimming pool, the warm staff, and the ambiance. It can be found in the busy city of Pasay, off the main road, but can be easily found by GPS. I definitely recommend it to families who are looking to find a good place to spend the weekend or to the corporate people who want to do some team-building or to hold an event.
So once again, Merry Christmas to you all! ️
