We passed by The Smoking Joint after Sunday Mass in BF weeks ago and we thought to give it a try. I have been seeing it and with the mixed reviews, I got curious about their ribs. I was with hubby, the kids and his bro so ordering a full slab was no question.

Full Slab of smoked ribs for 950Php without any sides, etc. Just the sauce. We got 3 orders of rice and they suggested to upgrade to Smoked Seasoned Rice explaining that it's better than plain rice so we agreed. I also got an order of Mac & Cheese for Cherienne. They'll give you a bucket where you can put the bones and also gloves so you can use your hands to grab and eat the ribs. Great idea!

Now onto the ribs - they were tender but not fall off the bone, smoked - super smoked, and had a strong barbecue taste. Not too bad, not too good either. You can add more sauce but it'll just make the ribs cloying. IMO, for that price, I have had better ribs. Our order was also served right away so I think the ribs were pre-cooked/grilled and they only re-heated them. Also, the rice was a joke. They only drizzled their plain rice with the same barbecue sauce served with the ribs.

The Mac & Cheese was good though. Pretty small serving but it was gooey and cheesy.

Overall, it was an okay experience. But one thing is for sure, we will not go back to this place again.

Another smoked bbq joint in BF. The place is the formerly great Knuckle Sandwhich. Some of the burger is still in the menu of smoking joint. The small place was fully redesign to give a more smoking bbq kind of vibe inside. Remove are the old boxing ring kind of vibe.
We order a half ribs and an order of their brisket. I did like the way they smoked the ribs and brisket. You can taste the smokey flavor in the meat and the strong bbq sauce add some bitter bbq flavor to it. Maybe the problem with smoking joint is maintaining that consistency. The first time I tried their ribs it tasted kind of dull and just reheated. Hope they can keep the consistency going. The sides smoking rice was also great add more smokey flavor to the food. The mac and cheese is delicious but has the umay factor thats why its better to share it to appreciate it. I did like the jalapeno corn muffin tasted great.
Another best part of this place is if you like drinking they serve bittermilk whisky on their menu. I tried the Honey Bitter Milk No. 3 Whisky. Tasted great for me but when my friend tried they said the taste was to strong for them. The grapefruit Bitter Milk No. 5 Vodka was also good. This one taste lighter compare to the whisky.
Overall I like this place and I know they can improve the place a lot more to have that consistency. The crew were also friendly and attentive to our needs. Next time gotta try some of their burger.128518128076

The Smoking Joint... sounds like there might be a little "happy magic" in that rub haha. Kidding aside, enjoyed my late dinner here. The ribs were good and tender. I liked how the individual rib pieces were bigger than your average. The taste was pretty consistent between the ribs and the beef brisket. The pulled pork had a stronger bbq flavor to it though, and thats still a good thing. The mac n cheese was a good flavor balance to all the bbq we had and could double up as a nifty spread for their flat pandesal.128077 However, the mac n cheese isnt something i'd probably order by itself.

Minus 1 11088 because, although good, i felt the serving sizes were a bit small and that the other bbq rib joints along Aguirre offered more meat for the buck.

First bite and we were both "Uhm, why?" I regret eating here. I shouldn't have suggested this place. 128529 It may sound mean and harsh but eating here was a waste of time and money and tummy space. Should have eaten somewhere else. Nothing really special with their ribs, brisket, and mac n cheese!! Overrated!!!!!! 128527128548128534

So we tried their "bestsellers" -- the Brisket, Ribs (the single order comes with 2 flat pandesals), and an order of Mac n Cheese.

Both the ribs and brisket lacked the smokey BBQ taste. It was dry and not tender. It didn't tasted new, as well. Parang it was cooked earlier and was just reheated!! The sauce can't even save them. 128546 and the Mac n Cheese? One word - nakakaumay. It was all cheese, thick and too rich cheese. Parang macaroni + melted eden cheese. Best mac n cheese na yun? 128555 I asked for hot sauce to somehow "save" the mac n cheese but what was given to us was the spicy bbq sauce. And thank you because it was good. It was the only thing we liked that night. The spicy bbq sauce! 128517

This is my first looloo review on an Aguirre ave. establishment. The co-workers and I ordered the following: pulled pork, pastrami and philly cheese steak sandwiches (the pastrami was mine). A full slab/rack of ribs with rice and three mac & cheese cups.

I thought the sandwiches were unique, it's the first I've seen a flattened pandesal utilized on a menu item. My pastrami was tender on a bed of crisp lettuce with rich tasty cheese sauce filling and onions bathed in beer. Sulit for php150 128077🏻128539128077🏻

I love the mac & cheese! The thick cheese on top and the perfect blend of cheesy creaminess coating every inch of the macaroni under there was sublime. I have an extraordinary love for cheese, so others may find it umay. 128525128079🏻128588128077🏻128076🏼128080🏻

The ribs lived up to the smoky tangy BBQ flavor that satisfies such carnivorous cravings but the meat was not as soft compared to other rib places, it was good but not the best for me. 128046

My husband and I tried this restaurant for dinner last night and they didn't disappoint.. The servers were very accommodating and know the menu very well.. They recommended the Ribs as best seller as well as their home brewed beer.. We've had Mac & Cheese and Garlic Potato Wedges for sides (ordered separately), and Dalandan Juice, which was very refreshing..

The Half Rack Ribs were very good, enough for 2-3 persons.. Meat falls off the bone and you have the option to go for the sweet sauce, spicy sauce or both.. The sweet sauce tastes like Friday's JD Sauce and their spicy one tastes like the one from Racks.. 128513 The staff will provide you with gloves in case you want to eat caveman style but don't want to get your hands dirty..

Mac & Cheese was very cheesy, a good thing as I love cheese.. But the Potato Wedges can do with more garlic..

Lastly, make sure you have cash when you visit as that's the only payment they accept..

Not a fan of ribs, but if you're looking for mouth-watering, fall off the bones pork goodness, you are most welcome here. Medyo malayo nga lang, sa South, along the popular Aguirre St. In BF. We had 3 sides, and the most bagay with the ribs is the sweet corn and sweet potato melt. The mac and cheese was TDF, as well, but it is best on its own.

All hype, very disappointing. Good thing we tried (almost) everything in the menu, means no reason for us to come back. There's nothing smoky about their ribs, brisket, pulled pork. All the sides were bland. It was also toooo warm in there.

This would be a one time visit only.

Every so often i eat at a restaurant by myself to see if the place is worth raving to my friends. Tonight, sept 13 i felt like trying smoking joint.

In my opinion, the place is all hype. I ordered the brisket, pulled pork, mac & cheese and coleslaw. The brisket is only 4 tiny slices and the pulled pork was so so. Couldnt taste the "smoke flavor in the meat.

Also for a small place the servers werent attentive. They werent looking at the people. Needed to raise my hand three times just to ask for the bill.

Found the place pricy for the quality

Lastly, the place uses plastic spoon and fork even if you dine in. Unenvironmental!

If you plan to eat here, dont expect that much.

On the left of the attached photo is a single serving of their ribs and on the right is their Bbq Pulled Pork Sandwich.

What we Ordered (Good for 2 persons):
• Ribs (Single) Php250
• Brisket (100g) P190
• Bbq Pulled Pork Sandwich P150
• Mac & Cheese P90
• Smoked Rice P50

Everything we ordered was just okay in terms of the taste. Nothing special at all. It's not bad but it's not great either. The ribs of Racks is way better. The smoked rice is super dry and doesn't have any taste. The Mac & cheese serving was super small and tasted just okay like everything else. Hehe.

The place is small. There is parking available only for 2 cars.

Went to try this place yesterday as I got curious if the ribs were really good. Saw good reviews bout it so finally decided to try.

But I got disappointed 128545. First the ribs tasted like the barbeque ribs of Racks..nothing special. Kala ko naman uber sarap..so I was saying, eto na yun? Ahmm and then it was served cold. So nakakawalang gana coz I like my food served hot of course.

Then there is the Mac and Cheese. Nothing special about it too. Nkakaumay sha. I didnt even get to finish the small serving coz didnt taste really good. Anyway I would recommend Street Shack over Smoking joint anytime. That's just me though. #honestopinion 128522128522128522

Braved SLEX traffic and headed to BF's Aguirre Avenue to try The Smoking Joint's famous ribs and beef brisket.

So yes, that's what I ordered.

The ribs: The meat literally fell off of the bone. Smoky, barbecue-y. 128077 You have the option if you like it sweet or spicy. 250php for single serving, which imho, can be shared.

The beef brisket: tender, chewy gooey, smoky goodness. 190php for 100g.

Order rice, if you want. Didn't get to try their mac and cheese, though.

Parking can be a hassle. Only 2 spaces alloted in front of the restaurant but you can park at the nearby Puregold Jr. Tables are limited as well so make sure you come early or make a reservation.

The meat was fall-of-the-bone tender, I didn't even need the plastic knife, I just pulled the meat of the bone using my latex covered fingers! And their brisket was melt in your mouth good. I didn't really care much for the sweet and spicy sauces that accompanied the smoked meats. To me, they were already good as is.

I'll cut right to the chase and say we were quite disappointed with our experience at the smoking joint last Saturday. Been seeing (exaggerated) reviews on Facebook and word of mouth too that it's really good blah blah so naturally, expectations were high. We met up with a couple of friends and we ordered the half rack, pulled pork (in picture), beef brisket, Mac and cheese, wedges, rice, well almost their whole menu.
Servings were tiny especially the pulled pork. More like grated pork IMO. The brisket was super dry too. The ribs were almost all bone and if there was meat, chewy sya. Ano baaaa 128534
Mac and cheese was ok, was served in a small llanera. Nakakatwa naman kse the rice serving was huge compared to the mains.
I don't know why they got such good reviews on fb. Probably friends of friends of friends? Nevertheless, honest opinions are more important so they would really know what the food tastes like! I think they concentrated more on the quirkiness of the place. Btw you don't get any plates too, it's like a dig in kind of thing which isn't for everybody.
Total bill was 1400. Ok na but could've spent that somewhere else.
Headed straight to buckys counter to compensate for our disappointing dinner.

Not really a fan of ribs but the mac n' cheese and coleslaw is yum! Place is well thought of...food presentation is instagram worthy. Price is reasonable.
