This has got to be one of the swankiest places I've ever eaten in. Located at the posh Crown Towers, it reeks of opulence from the moment you set foot into the high-roller hotel. Doña Budings (an 80s reference for you millennials) like me will feel right at home.

There were only two tables occupied (ours being one of them) when hubby and I had dinner there. Not a good sign, I thought, but what the heck, let's still give it a try. And boy, was I glad we did!

As its name suggests, it has a degustation menu, ranging from three courses to eight. You may wish to customize your food, but us being uneducated in the ways of the one percent, opted to just go for the Chef's choice, which has five courses. Oh, and a very surprisingly delightful Amuse Bouche which had these sinful foie gras lollipops. Clearly, the start of things to come. 128055

After wiping out our Amuse Bouche, we were treated to the first course: Duck Liver Terrine. Upon first glance, it looked too pretty to eat. Didn't look anything like a terrine, but it sure tasted great.

Next up was the ever delightful 52 degree egg. I've heard about this dish before and how sinfully awesome it is, and I must say, all the hype is true! It's basically a smoked potato mousse with an egg yolk added right before serving, and the result is heavenly. Not exactly an expert in naming ingredients, but I think this dish has truffles and ham on it, which added to the flavor.

For the next course, we had the mushroom ravioli. A light, foamy dish from what I remember.

Then we had the main courses: the blue fine tuna (yes, it said "fine" on the menu) and the pigeon. Loved both courses, although my hubby, a pigeon enthusiast, had initial reservations on eating the pigeon. Well, what could we do? We had to eat it, since it was on the menu. So hesitantly, my hubby took his first bite of pigeon and damn -- was it good! 128518 The meat was quite tender, that we both finished it off!

For dessert, the chef gave us a fruit platter since we told the server beforehand that we were both diabetic. But because we ate there during our anniversary, the kitchen was kind enough to prepare a special cake with the words "Happy Anniversary" written on top.

Yes it was pricey. Yes it was decadent. And no, I can't afford to eat like this all the time. Truly one of my most memorable meals to date.

The Tasting Room at Crown Towers - City Of Dreams Manila offers dishes like you've probably never experienced before. These are exquisite gastronomical creations that are a joy to behold and taste. Including this 52degree Egg.

The egg that was poached in olive oil for an hour giving it a deliciously creamy yolk was insanely good! It had a delightful sweetness from the caramelized onions, nutty yet delicate flavors from the Iberico ham, generous layers of winter truffle from Perigord and sprinkled with cepes powder for that earthy flavor… This dish sent me straight to the moon!
