Kind of a mixed bag, this. I liked the pumpkin soup. Thick and creamy. But my entree, the pork chops, was underwhelming. They give you two pieces but each is a bit thin. It comes with rice, mixed veggies and a mushroom gravy sauce. The combo was okay but there's a spice that just shocks you. Others may like it but I'm not a fan of pepper. I originally wanted the spareribs but was told that the pieces were fatty. Hats off to them for the heads up. That did save me from a world of woe. Anyway, topped it all off with sweet red currant iced tea. That was yummy.

Tea Republic is one of my favorite eat out venue, when our office was still a few steps away from Pacific Star--both because of convenience as well as the food.

I usually order pasta here, as I find their sandwiches had too much bread versus actual filling. I've already tasted their lasagna and the pasta with shrimp. Both were good--the lasagna was cheesy, and the latter was spicy, which I loved.

Their desserts are also quite good. I've tasted the Mango Torte. And this soft, chewy cookie served with vanilla ice cream 128523

They also serve real good iced tea. My top choice is the Berry Passion Tea--very fruity and quite refreshing 128522128077🏼

Took in a quick merienda here alone. Since it's just beside our bldg. Visibly, it's a place for business meetings and lunch. Made the ambiance a bit intimidating 128513

Costs of food here are a bit expensive. I ordered carbonara for 255php. It was al dente yet salty. I noticed that the bacon made it too salty. Hence I just removed it to enjoy the food. Milk tea Assam for only 70php is my favorite. It was good at first but then goes bland. Likely because of too much ice.

Its still a must try place to visit within the area. It's more relaxing than SB which is also situated in the same bldg. 128513

The place is nice and comfy. There are a lot eating lunch here considering specialty is tea. Got the Chicken Herb entree. Taste is not bad but seems too pricey for the quality. Chicken is not as tender and seems like it was just reheated. Overall, food I got is just ok.

Does anyone here watch Parks and Recreation? 9995 Yeah? You're familiar with "Treat yo self." then. Wonderful. For those who don't, allow me to explain. Two of the show's characters, Tom and Donna, have a day when they just treat themselves to anything they want, in celebration of their awesome selves. Five-tier chocolate ice cream cake with a bucket of chocolate-covered strawberries on top? Treat yo self! Ten servings of hot wings, angus beef sliders, and onion rings with a beer float? Treat yo self! Lobster thermidor with a side of jalapeno Cheetos for breakfast? Treat yo self!

That's what I thought of when The Tea Republic's Salpicao Aglio y Olio (P285) came to the table. A heaping serving of garlic rice topped with garlic bits, potato wedges (yes), tender and well-seasoned beef salpicao with red pepper strips on top, cloves of garlic bursting with flavor, and green beans and carrot sticks on the side, all swimming in sauce and carbolicious awesomeness. As a minimal rice eater, I really treated myself with this one. My stomach hurts in delight just thinking about it.

The Tea Republic is like any cafe supported by lovers of loose leaf tea, delightful desserts, and filling meals. I ordered one of their signature iced teas, the 22 oz. China Black Lemon (P95). Let me tell you, their tea is the real deal. For sweet tea patrons, I recommend their Tropical Berry iced tea, which is sweeter than the China Black Lemon but equally legit.

I took a bite of my friend's Chicken Cordon Bleu, one of their signature dishes, and I'm happy to report that it's delicious. And huge. Expect balls of chicken, ham, and cheese, none of that flimsy slice business. You may opt to have it with rice or pasta.

The service is also noteworthy. Their waiters have experience in peak hour management. I came in with the lunch crowd so the place was teeming with activity. They forgot my order, but I didn't wait long because they were snappy about it. Four for you, The Tea Republic!

If you're shopping around Makati for relatively affordable yet very satisfying grub, treat yo self to The Tea Republic. I reviewed the branch at 1/F, Pacific Star Building, Makati Ave., Makati City. For inquiries, you may contact them at 848-0270.
