Since everybody else in here’s making their last #loolooDroneGiveaway entries, might as well do the same thing cos #FOMO 128514

*Cue entrance song* The hills are aliiiiive with the sound of muuuusiiiiic! — yep, I agree with you. That was the lamest excuse for a review introduction 128553

Rewind! Let’s start with some fun facts:

1. This is my last review for the drone giveaway BUT it isn’t my last review ever on looloo.
2. This is my review on The Theatre at Solaire.
3. Since it’s my last entry, I guess it’s fitting to review about something I’ve experienced for the first time in my life: watching a play in a theater 127917

Last week, I got to watch The Sound of Music with ny homegurl Yanna B for free (thank you, Philippine Daily Inquirer! 128536) We were seated at the Orchestra area, which was at eye’s level with the stage (see photo) to the right, nearest door 4. Our seats were conveniently placed nearest the exit, which was a plus for me.

The show was scheduled to start at 8pm and we arrived 30 minutes after. We were ushered by the theater’s staff (who cannot take your photos, btw. You have to suck it up and ask other people take a photo of you. You just have to return the favor, of course) Just so you know, once a show starts, you are not allowed to enter or exit the premises until the act was done) We waited 8 mins and watched what was going on through a TV screen right beside the door.

When we finally got in, I was able to observe that the Theatre was able to make everyone feel like they’re basically part of the play. I never wouldve thought that a dark place like that could make ne feel so comfortable that I wanted to burst into a song and sing 127908

The Theatre at Solaire, albeit small compared to theaters I’ve seen only on TV, made me like theaters and musicals and plays. Cos of our experience last week, I said to myself that I would now love going to theaters to watch plays. After this, I’l be going to more plays and be that geeky theater person that was hidden in my alter ego.

I have the film on DVD and seeing the musical live on stage is just magical! For theater enthusiasts this is one that has great dancing and a few memorable songs! As always the theater foyer was decked in a lot of picture perfect displays that will keep people busy from snapping that nice photo. We arrived early to get away from the crowd. There is nothing more to add on the venue since I have stated my thoughts on it in the past. But the show was good. We got a chance to have a photo with the leading cast members, since they were casually strolling in the halls! Had my Sharpie ready too for that autograph.

We've visited The Theatre at Solaire for a number of shows - first was Chicago The Musical, December 2015 and our latest visit, we watched Ms. Celeste Legaspi perform her first solo show after 30 years. She is the woman behind such memorable theater / musical productions such as Katy, Saranggola ni Pepe, Sino Ka Ba Jose Rizal? & Alikabok, among others. I've seen the restaging of Katy at the CCP in 2013 and it was one of the highlights of my Philippine Theatrical journey (so to speak). It is just right for me to watch the woman who gave life to the original production in the 80s by watching her solo concert. It was great to watch her luminate the stage together with Ryan Cayabyab and The Company. Seeing her onstage and singing the emotional 'Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako' is such a cathartic experience.

There is also an exhibit on the 100th birth anniversary of her father Cesar Legaspi (National Artist for Visual Arts) at the lobby, until September. Our balcony seats had a great view of the entire stage and at 500pesos per seat it certainly beats watching a movie at the same price. A cultural treat every should experience. No flash photography was allowed during the entire show.

My overall experience in The Theatre at Solaire was good. Of course, the musical, The Wicked, had a big factor here. The whole place was very wide and spacious, even the common areas and the hallways. For a musical that’s sold out, having a very wide area will be very convenient. The whole area was a bit confusing for first timers but the signs will help guide you.

WICKED IS SO WICKEDLY WICKED!!!! 128154128154 No words because the whole cast was just so good, talented and AMAZING!!!! 128076🏼

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- It's really cold inside so bring a jacket, wear a sweater or bring something to cover yourself with unless you have a skin that's thicker than leather. 128514
- Best to arrive early so you can still eat, go to the restroom, and take photos outside. Late comers won't be allowed to enter the place, they'll have to wait for the right time aka break time.
- During the break, make sure to bring your ticket w you just in case the person in the entrance will ask for your ticket once you go back.
- The theater's steep so if you can avoid getting the top top seat area, please avoid it.
- I read Roy's review and followed his suggestion which is to buy the second cheapest ticket. You get a good decent view in a not that expensive way 128518128541
- Try checking for online promotions because sayang the savings. For Wicked, Globe's offering 10-15% off discount. 128521
- They have a food stall outside the theater but prices are waaaaaaaayyy more expensive. Coffee, popcorns, pastries, cookies, and other items are available.

Last Wednesday night was a very special night... because it was the Gala Night of WICKED: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz. Concertus Productions brings back the Broadway and West End sensation to Manila after their successful season a couple of years ago. Show was spectacular as expected. Souvenirs are as expensive as ever! Bought an umbrella though, hahaha. And even Solaire is cashing in on the Wicked fever with their Wicked themed food items (cheapest is at 275pesos!)

CCP was something special! It had that old world charm when Wicked had its run there. But The Theatre is more equipped in terms of facilities, we were there at 4pm to roam around, take photos at the slew of fun backdrops before the crowd sets in (a good idea, you get to take lots of photos without people gawking at you).

Don't forget to "stage door" to get your programme signed by the cast. After the show, make sure to run to the stage door located at The Theatre ground level entrance, turn left and you'll see a barracade to a door and a van waiting. Wss a bit late but was able to get a photo with Elphaba (won't post it here... i look so giddy and nerdy in it, LOL). She even handed out presigned postcards to waiting theater fans!

Enjoy the show!

Last Thursday we watched The Blue Man Group perform at The Theatre at Solaire. It's their first time in Manila and they certainly did not disappoint. Everything i've been hearing and seeing on previews exceeded my expectation. Truly a blend between theater, improv comedy, rock and dance concerts!

The Theatre has become the premiere venue for Concertus and Lunchbox Theater Productions. I just do not like the seats at the balcony. Very squeezed specially for tall people. Your knees will be against the head of the person right in front of you. Everything else is Grade A classy. Love it.

If you plan to watch, the Blue Man Group is up until Sunday September 25, 2016.

Watched the King of Pop Experience featuring Kenny Wizz. It was a one night only show.

Me and my bro are huge MJ FANS So we couldn'y miss it!

The show to be honest was just so-so. The front act sang some good "sing along" and familiar tunes. Even sang MJ's Man in the Mirror and Gone too soon. They had good voices and good blending as well.

When Kenny Wizz came out it started with a not so famous MJ song. I didn't like the flow or the set list line up. Wished he went for wanna be startin' something instead. Or at least follow MJ 's movie concert flow. I can also notice a problem with the audio throughout the show. There were weird sounds that you could hear while the show was ongoing. Also, Kenny could surely dance like MJ and is impressive as well for a guy who is 52! Yes, he admitted his age! Wow. But! He surely doesn't sound like MJ it was definitely noticeable.

What made the show fun was his audience interaction, his humilty and how he said That the concert was just a 2-hour escape from the busy real world outside. I love also how he would shout to the crowd and the crowd would copy back. He also came down to the audience a couple of times throughout the show.

There was also a young kid during the show who also dressed up like MJ and was dancing his heart out. Super cute 4 year old kid also stole the show and the hearts of many! I was lucky enough to speak to the kid during the short restroom break. He said he was a MJ fan since 2! He loved the song Billie Jean and he could moon walk! 127908128514 plus he sang billie jean in the restroom and showed us a sample of his moonwalk.

There was also a meet and greet after the show. The line was super long but we waited patiently. Kenny was super nice and genuine. Even though his legs were shaking from all the dancing he still agreed to stand up for a photo! Plus he signed our show tickets as well!

Many thanks for a great show! 127908127908127908

Theater review: the seats were pretty comfortable. Staff were really nice and attentive as well 128076🏻 they also have upcoming shows like the famous blue man group are coming to perform this September! 128153128153128153 I wouldn't miss it!

Last performance of Les Miserables in Manila last night was SUPERB. Seeing our very own Rachel Anne Go performing as Fantine and sung the much awaited "I DREAMED A DREAM" on stage of The Theatre by Solaire gave me goose-bump. Whoah! 128561 What a dramatic piece! 128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻

This is my 4th time watching a show inside The Theater by Solaire starting from Chicago, Singin' in the Rain, Nanta and lastly Les Miserables. 🤓

As expected, still the elegancy outside and inside The Theatre, from the carpet, CR, sofas, big LED screen, the signage, the furniture, etc... It's BRILLIANT! specially they will open more shops and restaurants downstairs.

You will noticed the combination of classic and modern structures of the The Theater, it is not big as expected but it's beautiful to see the color orange chairs combined in the dark theater... But they need to improved the seats to be more spacious.

Watched Les Mis with my sister last Friday and it was awesome! The Theatre was very classy, comfy seats, good air conditioning, good number of restroom cubicles. The only negative remark I have is about the configuration of the place, it was kind of hard to get to. Despite the signs, I found it very confusing to go around.

Getting dropped off in the place was confusing. And also, when leaving the place, my sister and I had to walk to the Main Lobby of the casino just so we could have a nice pick up point for the Uber ride we were getting.

Won't be coming back unless there's another good show to watch again. 9996

Definitely a night to remember! First time to visit and watch a play at the Theatre at Solaire. Les Miserables! I was all tears when I witnessed the cast perform! Sad Rachelle Anne Go was sick that time she didn't play Fantine.

Was so amazed with the professionalism of the stage actors and all the people behind the curtains! Very disciplined! Not a single noise would be heard when they're changing props and sets! Flawless!

Place has strong WiFi signal for free! Place was cold enough. You should bring jackets if you get easily chilled. Ushers also know what to do and are polite in assisting audience.

However the only problem I kinda noticed is that the sound of the voices do not surround the whole theatre. It just comes from the stage aided by mouse microphones and lapels. But I think the speakers were few to amplify the voices up to the balcony.

Anyway, nothing beats Les Mis! Been dreaming of watching this live because my grandfather usually plays his Les Mis album when we were still kids so there's a feeling of nostalgia to the songs. Literally cried in One Day More, God On High and Do You Hear The People Sing? Plus the curtain call gave me chills (and a lot of tears!) when all of us inside the theater stood up and applauded the cast for a job well done!

Watched Les Miserables with my sister last last week at The Theatre at Solaire Resort Casino. It's my third time there and still loved this modern and comfy theater. Well-maintained and the size of the theater is not too wide nor too narrow. This I think is the best theater in Manila for the cleanliness, comfy couches, top notch audio system, and size. One not so good thing was the legroom. It was a challenge having people pass by so the long-legged me had to keep on standing to give way. 128531

I'd like to share a tip of sorts... I always get the second cheapest ticket area price (I think called B Reserve) because it's right next to the Premium VIP area, which is the most expensive area. Both are located at the balcony. Weird that the most expensive area is there, because usually they're the ones right in front of the stage. Anyways, it's a win for wise musical goers like me? 128527128527128527 The view from that side is really good, in my opinion... Not too near that you can see the actors' facial expressions but you can see the whole set, top view. You may bring with you binoculars to watch them more closely.. You may also bring cardigans because their air conditioning works too well. A bit chilly at times haha! 10052️🌬

And the musical. I just have to say that it was sooooo good!!! Very talented actors, having one of our own singers, Rachel Ann Go, as Fantine (not the shampoo!) and I heard the young Cosette in one of the newer shows is also a locally grown talent. 128077🏻128077🏻 up until now, I am still in a Les Mis hangover. On My Own, I Dreamed a Dream, Do you hear the people sing, One Day More, are my favorite songs!!! I literally felt goosebumps. And the set was superb!!! Really had a lot of changes and variations that I did not expect!!! 128079🏻128079🏻128079🏻 some say the musical was underwhelming, Valjean was not as good, and etc. to me it was okay since it's my first time to watch the musical. I've only watched the movie (with Anne Hathaway and etc). Also, if you're the comparing type of person, the movie was more dramatic than the musical, like Anne Hathaway's portrayal of Fantine.

If you're a Les Mis or musical fan, you should not dare miss this! They're here until May 1. 128527128527

Gwen I I think there are two The Theatre entries here in | looloo. The other one has the name "The Theatre at Solaire". 128517128517128517

Last night was a big day for me and my officemates as we'll all be watching, for the first time in our lives, Broadway's longest running musical, as recorded in history - Les Miserables at The Theater at Solaire!

As my boss was an ultimate fan of theater plays, broadway and Cameron Macintosh himself, he decided to treat us all with orchestra seats at this highly renowned production. Can this get any more exciting!?

We left Mandaluyong at around 5PM and got to Solaire, after dinner, at around 7:30PM. Solaire is one of those prime malls wherein you can really feel extra class and sophistication with how it looks, from the inside and the outside.

The door greeters and staff were dressed really well, neat looking and extra polite in accommodating all our concerns. Upon entering from the main entrance, the casino shall be the first sight that you'll see. You'll definitely get tempted so yes, try your luck then.

We walked going to The Theater from the main entrance and it was a bit far. We passed through posh and classy restaurants, art exhibits and mix and match of high end stores. When we got at to our destination, we were assisted by staff who'll direct you to your door assignments.

The way leading to The Theater is like a way leading to an airplane. As we were assigned at door 3, we went down via an escalator and finally reached the entrance to the theater.

The Theater looked really brand new, polished and filled with character. Its simple interiors were given justice by its cleanliness and neatness. The lighting and ventilation were good too, not too dark or bright, hot or cold. I just hoped that their chairs had boosters, as what my boss said, for small people, like me. We were seated at the orchestra section which was already near towards the stage. Sad thing was that the person in front of me was tall so I found it hard to watch the production in a nice perspective.

The technicals of the theater were really good! Yes, it was a certainty that the production team enhanced these but still, everything went so well altogether. From the videos, to the lights, the sounds and the sets, everything was so perfect! Every bit of the production was worth watching for!

The 2 hours and 45 minutes greatness of Les Miserables' history was perfectly staged at The Theater at Solaire - perfect combination in every angle!

Watched Les Miserable here last Saturday and I was really impressed with the place... The lobby was really nice and spacious, A/C was cool, ushers very helpful... The place just exuded Class!

Upon entering, I liked that it wasn't really a huge theatre, we were able to see the stage from all sides However, when we were shown to our seats, I was soooooo disappointed with the small seats and the even smaller leg room 128561 it was cramped even for someone my size, my nephew who's 6'2 was seated behind me and kept bumping my seat 128529128534 It was also crazy hard to let people pass to get to their seats! Huge flaw for an otherwise beautiful theatre... Except for the seats and leg room, I loved everything else...

It's a beautiful theatre, and comfortable seats. Little leg room, but one wouldn't mind it what with the impeccably awesome sound system. Saw the first show of Les Miserables here for their Manila installment and it was just amazing! 128571

I love watching theater shows since when I was in highschool. I always look for new theater shows & I really make schedules for them. I watched several theater shows at the Theatre at Solaire. This place is great. The last time I watched here, I am beside Mrs. Gretchen Baretto. She is so pretty! Hahaha. Staffs are good, they will help you as long as they can but they do not allow you to take pictures inside the Theatre. The place has a low temperature, be sure to wear the appropriate dress.

Aside from being a huge foodie, I’m also into theater plays and musicals! But for the longest time, I’ve only been to CCP where I watched The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Beauty and the Beast, etc. So being here in Solaire is a whole new experience for me.

A few months ago, I was very fortunate to be given premium tickets (by our client, Visa) to see Singing in the Rain here in Manila. The show was FANTASTIC and being in Solaire really added to the whole magic of it. The Theatre at Solaire is such a great place to hold this kind of engagement. Everything was really new and clean compared to CCP. Only edge of CCP is its historical and cultural ambience that somehow adds grandness and appeal to the shows it houses. The seats here were comfortable, the ushers were very nice and strict (which I like), and the sounds and lights were really top notch. It felt like I was watching a show in Vegas!

Only downside of The Theatre is accessibility. Not only that Solaire feels like it’s in the corner of the world, even The Theatre feels like it. We had to go through several flights of escalators and walk long hallways just to get to the show. For me, it’s not so ‘old-people’ friendly given the amount of walking and flights of stairs to be conquered. But overall, the whole place is really great.

The Theatre at Solaire did not disappoint and lived up to its promise of being a world-class entertainment facility.
