Nasi Goreng 195Php

This what I called, "Pinasosyal na Bagoong Rice with Chicken bits, Dilis and Sunny side up egg" 128514 A very Filipino type of breakfast! There's also shimp paste on the side and served with iced tea.

There's no description of the food. I should have asked because I am not going to order this if I knew it was dilis and bagoong rice. All my fault! I just asked for a spicy food and the guy at the cashier recommended this dish. Kaya always ask if in doubt.

Even if this not the kind of food I normally eat, I would say that this is good. Served quick. Presented well. But this is not something I would order again in a restaurant.

The servers were nice. Very accommodating.

The place is well-organized and clean.

Ive always loved Toast Box for their Kopi. Service today though was horrible! Kristel and this classless girl in black are so slow and unaware of it! If they're the girls manning the place when you visit, consider visiting another time.

Its been years since I've last had a meal at Toastbox. My co-workers and I ended up here since it was raining and our options were limited to the vicinity of our building. Funny how we explore BGC but neglect the very places right below our office haha.

Anyway, it felt good to refresh our tastebuds with some good old nasi goreng, chicken rice, and kaya toast. It wasn't one of the better tasting Singaporean restaurants i've been to but it did hit the spot, especially on a rainy day. The hainanese chicken was lean, mean, and had that ginger and sesame oil flavor. The nasi goreng was a bit salty for my taste, but thats how nasi goreng should be i guess.

And i couldn't eat in Toastbox and afford to miss their Kaya toast! Kaya toast is kaya toast... toasted bread with butter and kaya jam... quite hard to screw that up, but even harder to excel with. 128539 Singaporean kopi and the soft boiled eggs rounded out a satisfying and filling meal.

After having a full morning at work, my team's excited to have our first lunch together in BGC. We chose Toast Box cos it's my boss' favorite. Hehe. Our visit was already past the lunch hour and yet the cashier was so slow in taking and punching out orders. The place was also not packed during our visit but it was so hot.

I ordered their new Hainanese Chicken Chops - a fried version of their signature chicken dish. The chops took so long before it got served. Not sure if it's because there were three of us or the service is really slow. The chicken was okay; it tasted Hainanese in some bites and the breadings were not thick. You can still request for soup though you're not getting the Hainanese Chicken set, just ask the servers.

We go here at least once a month since this is just a 10-15 minutes walk from our apartment. We usually enjoy eating here because my housemates and I all love their Floss thick toast set. Yesterday we decided to eat here, it was a last minute decision so we forgot their 9pm closing time. We were there around 840pm. The guy at the cashier did take our orders so we still did not yet remember their closing time but when we got our food after 5 mins the toast was burnt and the server was obviously upset while serving us, and then after serving us they turn off the wifi and started cleaning the whole place, putting other chair on other tables while we are eating...that was so depressing! So we hurriedly eat our food. Seriously they should just told us that they can no longer serve us instead of serving us burnt toasts and closing the place while were still eating.

Earlier today, we had a nice stroll to Toast Box across Bonifacio Stopover along Rizal Drive cor. 31st St. I've had this fine Singaporean treat a few times in SG and also quite a number of times in their very first branch in PH in Greenbelt 5. Owing to my pending reviews, I decided to write this down while my memory was still fresh.

Instead of the usual Kaya Toast (which, if you're a first time Toast Box visitor, is a Must Have), I decided to have breakfast like some of our friends from China and Singapore--- soup and noodles. Turns out, they have Luncheon Meat Noodles. Quite straightforward. One piece of Luncheon meat, good amount of thin rice noodles, bits and even chunks of pork for that fine broth taste and texture with every bite, half piece of hard boiled egg, and sliced cabbage.

Verdict? For under P200, you have yourself a very solid breakfast (or rainy weather) meal! The broth has that right amount of saltiness and pork bits at that. Excellent flavor, not too garlicky. The noodles have that right amount of chewiness and just right level of cooking (not too hard, not too soft). Admittedly, I had low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The noodles were quite plenty. I was particularly pleased with the chunks and bits of pork that I added to every bite for that added flavor. If there would be a complaint, it's that the noodles stuck a bit to each other but it's still a pretty good and filling meal. The Luncheon meat is as you'd expect so no need to elaborate. Shades of FU by Wrong Ramen. Hehehe. 4.5/5

Added P50 to get a lemonade. Not bad, either. Kinda reminds me of a less sweet version by North Park. Now that version is pretty good. Must be the added lemon slices and syrup that did the trick.

Shared a hot Horlicks with my wife. The cashier dude told us (when we asked the rational of having two malt drinks) the difference between this and Milo is that the Horlicks is more vanilla (the Milo, chocolate, of course). This was a very light, pleasant drink. Good pick me upper alternative to coffee. 4/5

Service, very good. This is counter order for the unfamiliar. 5/5

Resto ambiance and upkeep... The aircon was poorly maintained. The resto wasn't cold all around like in Greenbelt, I had to stay cold under their aircon which had scotch tape and was dripping water on me. Too bad. Though their interiors were consistent with the Toast Box look. Bright, combination cottage type chairs and tables and some cushions. Average 3/5

If you're going to try this place at any time in the near future, it's a better breakfast and brunch place for me, but I've had my share of lunches here. They have Hainanese chicken that's pretty good. And they have this new breaded version that looks intriguing. Also, their Kaya Toast set is a nice breakfast or meryenda type thing to take. Kaya is a sweet spread derivative of coconut or something like that, a popular sweet spread in Singapore and Malaysia. Think their version of peanut butter. Mix that with a thick slab of butter inside a toasted sandwich, voila! You also get two partially boiled eggs to have an excellent dip for the toast. Usually with coffee that contains condensed milk. But you have different options here for the coffee.

Enjoy!

Whenever we have trainings at BOTT, we would usually eat lunch anywhere within the area. Since this is just at the ground floor of the building, my officemates and I ate here.

We ordered: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Curry Chicken and the Nonya Laksa soup.

The hainanese chicken was okay. Hmmm, just okay.

The chicken curry was too thick and rich. I'm not a fan of curry so I didn't enjoyed this as much as I want to. My "curry fan" friend didn't liked this, as well. Sakto lang. And it doesn't tastes good when it's not warm anymore. So eat it as fast as you can! 128541

The soup, like the chicken, was just okay.

The food were all okay. Nothing really special. It's not super bad naman but just not goooood. 128517

I've eaten here thrice already and I can't remember enjoying any of my order. The closest I've enjoyed would be the wholesome tuna sandwich. But it's just your usual tuna sandwich, so k! 128518

I also got to try their cream cheese kaya toast? It was okay. It comes with two eggs (usually soft boiled but you can ask them if you want hard boiled eggs) and coffee or tea. Their coffee's good and very matapang! I usually ask them to add less condensed milk. 128513128077🏼

They have peanut butter kaya toast, in my 3 visits, I would normally think of ordering this but would be end up not ordering because it's too simple and I can easily make this at home. 128533 Should have just ordered this haha!! Oh well. Thinking of trying the floss, as well.

Service is kinda slow. You have to wait talaga before they serve you with your orders. Atleast you know you're food is freshly made. 128540 And also, sometimes, you don't get the kind of egg you want. I once asked for hard boiled eggs but they served me with soft boiled eggs. And there was a time when my friend was super excited to show me how to properly eat the soft boiled eggs and when he cracked the egg, it was hard boiled! 128517128518

It was my second time to eat in Toast Box. Instead of having their special Nasi Goreng, I tried something new and went for their Mee Siam which actually looked like a Pansit Palabok. But it tasted different, the palabok is somehow salty but Mee Siam has a distinct taste. I can taste tamarind as the base sauce. Mee Siam also contained tofu, beansprouts and egg. Overall, It was good but I still prefer palabok.

Walked in at 9:45 pm. No more laksa noodles. I was craving for it.

Settled for hainanese chicken. So-so. It was okay, but not great.

Despite the scorching heat earlier my laksa cravings had to be catered to. 128514 So yeah, this is their Nonya Laksa + I also ordered iced barley.

I loved the food and the place itself, but the staff seemed confused and had some mistakes with our orders so.. 128566
