I ate Nasi Goreng for lunch with teammates once here. Taste was almost the same as how they served it on an Air Asia flight, only that it's a rice mix, big serving, and a little salty for me. (I've got a bland palate from eating too much bland Korean food, though it's good for my health. 128517)
The Blueberry Cream Cheese Sandwich was really good!!! 128523 I ordered it to-go and ate it for mirienda. Next time I go to the grocery, I'm definitely buying a can of blueberry and cream cheese. Because Toastbox's is expensive. 128517128517128517

I have a lot of time to kill before ze 7pm soiree,  i decided to hang at Toastbox.  I believe this is my third visit.  Believe itnor not,  this is the first time i am scrutinising their interior.  Toastbox strictly adheres to the bed and breakfast-ish theme. White interiors make the joint look spacious.  Wood is predominant,  from the tables down to the chairs.  I'm digging the vintage phone on the wall, Alex would be proud.

Grub x Drink

¶ Blueberry with cream cheese combo with ice milk tea on the side.  The service was relatively fast,  didn't wait that long for the food to be served.   The milk tea os good,  not too sweet and has the perfect balance of milk x tea.   The toast is good too,   the combination of blueberry preserves and cream cheese is delicious.  Cream cheese tones down the sweetness of the jam.  The soft boiled eggs is dynamite!  Biased opinion as I love soft boiled eggs.  I get a sudden rush of obscene nostalgia everytime i eat soft boiled eggs.  It brings me back to my childhood days when Grams makes merienda.

I have yet to try their savory dishes.  I always get the same thing whenever i pay them a visit.  Maybe it's high time to veer away from the norm.  The laksa sounds promising.

I've only tried Toast Box twice before this visit. On my previous visits, I didn't have a photo!! (sayang reviews!)

I ordered their Laksa Noodle Soup just because I was craving for Laksa. Their soup was quite good. The noodles were okay too, but I did not like the bean sprouts! They weren't cooked but that's fine usually since they can be eaten raw, but I didn't like the taste of raw bean sprouts so I had a hard time picking them out. 128533

Also, service was quite bad on this day... We asked 3-4 times for our table to be cleaned up, but they only cleaned up the table when our food was ready to be served. 128528

After an afternoon of being tea-loving friends, we decided to stop by Toast Box, a cute little restaurant that I thought only serves toasts. Hey, the name was deceiving.

Hello, Toast Box.

N was drawn to this restaurant while we were trying to burn some calories (and J mesmerized by LEGO). I was pretty surprised that the restaurant has a lot of dishes to offer. They serve Nonya Laksa (PHP225), Hokkien Prawn Mee (PHP220), Chicken Sausage Noodles (PHP149), and a lot more aside from toasts. N, J and I ordered the three I just mentioned. We all added PHP30 to get a glass of Iced Barley.

The place was really packed when we entered but were lucky to spot an empty table right away. Despite the crowd, service was pretty quick. We were still digesting our brunch when our bowls arrived.

I wasn’t really able to taste the bowls of N and J as the itsy bitsy taste of their soup made me drink a third of my drink. It was SPICY! I have mentioned in my previous blogs that my tolerance for spicy food is pretty much non-existent. I try but there are just some I really could not eat as I’ll just cough throughout the whole meal.

Luckily, mine wasn’t spicy at all. It actually tasted a bit like La Paz Bachoy in some way. The broth’s taste was pretty light. The serving of the noodles was very generous. I wasn’t able to finish it as it seemed like there’s no end! The sausage was pretty okay. It wasn’t the ultra savory type which I think goes well with the noodles. For a price of PHP149, this is a great deal!

The iced barley was very refreshing too. It was a bit bland at first but if you stir your drink well, it’ll get a sweeter. I enjoyed munching on the barley. 128525

I’ll definitely be back for the toasts and coffee next time.

I love Toast Box because of their very neat setup - all white, white chairs, white tables, white walls.

I remember not liking their Kaya Toast, idk why. But I do love their "Asian Delights".

Specifically their Nonya Laksa (P235). I love that this dish is spicy and unique on its own. I love the texture of the noodles combined with the other ingredients (tofu, prawn, etc). Note that this is a messy thing to eat. I suggest you protect yourself by using their tissue as your bib 128523 looks weird but at least you look decent after 128521

Always liked the vibe of this place- all white and warm lighting. Not such a big fan of their super soft boiled eggs that come with their toast sets. I also find their french toast too buttery. I swear when I took a bite of the center part, the butter oozed out of my mouth uncontrollably. It was dripping down my chin and until now I still feel the umay. 128514 But other than that I really like their Milo Toast, Horlicks Dinosaur (iced vanilla malt) and Hot Choco! Do not miss the hot chocolate if you're up for a hot drink.

Ordered their Nasi Goreng (P195) and Cold Yuan Yang (P110) for brunch!

The Nasi Goreng was too good and too heavy for me!! I really had a hard time finishing the whole plate to myself!

The Yuan Yang was also good!!! 128513 I would've tried the hot version but it was too hot that day and the aircon seems to be not working so I decided to try the cold one 9786

Twice this week?! I must really like this place. Uh, well, Julie J. and I ate here for an NB. Too bad Carla M. wasn't able to come with us.

Yes, Nasi Goreng that day - egg+fried rice that contained chili, cabbage, shredded chicken and magic +sambal and dried dilis. If you think about it, it's like a chao fan with egg on top. Simple and tasty. That made a good lunch. I was looking for something sweet after but Julie ordered coffee to go and we know that Toast Box has good, sweet and strong coffee!

I ended up walking around the mall before heading back to work.

Hurray for Nasi Lemak! Originally it was a Nasi Goreng until I asked what part of chicken they'd serve. The cashier stared back at me and my colleague clarified that Nasi Lemak was the one with the fried chicken. So Nasi Lemak it was. This order takes a while to serve so whip out a book or your smartphone to keep you preoccupied.

When it arrived, I asked for extra sambal.! Finally! I can eat something spicy without the incessant coughing. Yay, yay! Mixed the sambal, cucumbers into my rice and cut up the fried egg - the result was yummy! P245. Not bad, but I know there's some place better. :)

One sunday afternoon, before going to the movie, i finally decided to try the toastbox coffee (all the whole while i always try their milk tea and i really heard that their coffee is best)

With my favorite toast, which was extra toasted this time and extra condensy (condensed milk 128539) was all too good. The soft boiled egg was a bit overcooked (yolk was sticking on the shell already)

Finally.. Sipping my first plain black coffee... Mm.. They got it really dark. Seems to have some taste of bitter chocolate but then it doesnt turn out to be chocolate... Just coffee in the end (duh)
Compared to mcdonalds or any other good coffee, this one has a deeper dig of bitterness kick. Liked it too.. Maybe next time i woud like to get a coffee high, i'll order this up again... And maybe next time condensy.128521

Tried their famous creamcheese kaya toast set for P155. Did not become a fan of it since it's comparable with kopiroti's kaya toast set.

The coffee is as good as kopiroti's. The kaya toast was just ok. I liked kopiroti's version better. For me, kopiroti won the battle on kaya toast!

Im very particular with my coffee, and I'd always go straight black. Flavored latte no matter how "sikat" just tastes like 3-in-1 for me :(

My friends have been telling me to try this, cause it's close tp what they had in Vietnam. So I did try their Iced Kopi oncw upon a mid afternoon cause I was feeling a bit adventurous --- lo, and behold!!! IT'S NOW MY ONE AND ONLY FAVORIIIITE :')

Perhaps it's REALLY GOOD COFFEE that blends well with condensed milk and the sweetness is just right.. On my 2nd try, I asked them to lessen the condense by 1/2 and ohhhhhh my..... it's my default coffee na when I dont feel like going black!! For Php 105? Honestly better than your SB latte

And oh oh- their Hainanese Chicken Sandwich was delectable treat! I'm a meh-I-can-make-this-at-home type of woman hence not enticed by toasts, but when hunger strikes past breakfast, I MUST eat. And I had this!!! p169 + 15 for ICED kopi. #eatSmart

Tasty chunks of chicken with tomato and cucumber. It's the chicken it's the chicken! :') oh and it's very filling too! If you want it spicy, just ask. Their chili sauce is also bomb-astic!

Noteables :
> outlets available of you have to charge / work
> VERY courteous staff

CANT GET OVER ICED KOPI. #addicted for 3 weeks and counting.......

Looloove,
B

One of my fave quick snacks!!! Kaya Cream Cheese Toast Set best partnered with Teh or Milo Dino!! 128525

First that I've had one of their sets was really weird for me coz I don't know what to do with the egg hahahaha!! I was told by my friend that you'll dip it with your toast it was somehow eewie for me since the egg was not cooked properly I mean it's just a soft boiled egg but then I eventually get used to it and it was good!! 10084128069

Place was full even on a Thursday night. Tried the Hokkien Prawn Mee which is this sweet and spicy Singaporean prawn soup with fat noodles, prawns, hb egg and lots of cabbage. The soup in itself is pretty good, thick and flavorful. What I didn't like about the dish is that the noodles were so thick and there were more cabbages than noodles.

They have a pay as you order scheme so they'll only serve the food and you'll have to get your water yourself. When we asked the server where the water was, she replied, "nandoon" in a bitchy tone and waved off handedly. Definitely not coming back.

i can say for this review:
their staff here were and are really courteous.
i had horlicks dinosaur for my drinks... i just had dinner outside.

if you are allergic to malt or galactose intolerant, don't order horlicks.. cause it's a combination of malted barley, wheat flour and whole milk...

i like it cause of its wheaty, vanilla taste... why call it dinosaur? usually they leave some of your order's powder form on top for your consumption... roar!
