Been attracted to waffles lately and I think I found my ultimate favorite savory waffle to date! Presenting, Toby's Estate's Bacon, Pecan and Maple Waffle! Pegged at 195Php, the serving is not enough because it's super good!

Imagine - perfect waffle that's crispy outside, warm and soft inside, with crispy, salty and smoky bacon surprise inside some of the waffle squares, topped with lots of pecan chunks and drizzled amply with maple syrup. Boom! Perfect balance of salty and sweet! It's pretty good!

I also tried their Chocolate Chai - hot. Tried the iced version last time and it was good but the hot version was the best! It has a pretty latte art, that wowed even the lolo beside me LOL making him order one as well, dark chocolate flavor that was on the sweet, but not too much, side which went so well with the Chai. There was something soothing with the Chai aftertaste and I loved it!

Fell in love with Toby's Estate more! 128525

This branch of Toby's Estate is by far my favorite. The one in Makati is bigger and more spacious but there's something with the wall painting in this branch that appeals so much to me. Just by looking at the wall filled with painting of plants, flowers and birds gives me a certain peace and calmness. Maybe weird for you but it really has that kind of effect on me. I also love that this branch is well let with just plain white canvass for everything. The place in turn looks so well kept and neat.

Went here one afternoon, on a weekday and the place was not crowded. Great! I went for an iced drink since I haven't tried the iced version of their Mocha. Also got myself an order of their waffle. I have been wanting to try one for the longest time!

The Iced Mocha (170Php) was just okay. Tasted a little too watered down. There was still the strong coffee taste, the bitter chocolate but I think I prefer my Toby's Estate Mocha hot - thank you.

For the waffle, I got the Speculoos and Whipped Cream for 195php. The waffle was crunchy outside but soft and moist inside. I kind of tasted a hint of banana so I asked one of the server and he in turn asked their kitchen staff. They said that it was just the usual waffle ingredient - flour, eggs, etc., that they used with no banana at all. Hmmm... Anyhow, I loved their waffle. It included a good heaping of Speculoos on top.

I will definitely stick to the hot version of their Mocha next time but will try their Nutella and Banana Waffle.

Right after dinner at Fowlbread, Ony and I went here. I was excited to let him try Toby's Mocha and Calamansi Pie. 128154

I love Toby's Mocha!! It's one of the best. I love the balance of bitterness from the espresso and the sweetness of the chocolate. But I guess I was a little OA because although the Mocha was still good, there wasn't something extraordinary or special about the mocha during our visit. Not sure why!! 128557 Ony even joked that his mocha recipe is better than this one. Also the pie! 128529 Sadly, the Calamansi Pie wasn't as great, too. I remember loving it before but there's something off with the one we had. The consistency and taste was weird. Even the table beside us didn't finished their Calamansi Pie. 128546

I'm hoping and praying that this was just a weird bad day. I'll go back and try the Mocha and Calamansi Pie again next time because I still believe that they're the best!! 128529128546 And also, I must try the Pistachio Pie been hearing a lot of good reviews about that one! 128154

PS: 3 stars for now huhu 128546128529

This marks my second rendezvous with Toby this week.  I like this branch as it is very peaceful.  Majority of the patrons are yuppies glued to their laptop.  I haven't seen a representative of the hipster crowd.  This is the perfect place for some alone time for introverts.  Bibliophiles can relax while engrossed on their favorite book.

I picked Mocha on this visit.  The coffee is fantastic as always.  Trust me when i say that this is the best Mocha ever. I've tried the other coffee joints,  there are a couple that stood out but none of them comes close to Toby's.

Talk coffee to me,  baby.... Uhmmm Toby's Estate... Okay that was lame...we're still cool,  yeah?

When it comes to coffee,  no one comes close to the Toby's.  They make the meanest cup of joe!  I fell in love with Toby after my first sip of their mocha.  I fell hard and fast.

I got giddy when i found out that they're opening a branch at Shang.  I don't have to speed walk to Aura to get my Mocha.   I'm digging this branch as it is spacious compared to the ones I frequent and yes it is prettier than the rest. Easy on the eyes and very conducive to relaxing.  The color palate resembles a bed & breakfast i see in movies.  And oh,  they play good music - a lil Florence and Amy is always good.

| Chai Latte (Php 140)

I know what you're thinking...the opening statement doesn't relate my drink of choice.  I wanted to get Flat White but i needed to get some zzzz's hence i picked Chai.  And besides,  Toby can do no wrong,  i firmly believe that they can make a mean chai latte.

I was right!  The chai latte is dynamite.  Aromatic,  hmmmm...me likey cinnamon.  Perfect proportions of chai and milk.  I liked it so much,  i finished my drink in two big gulps,  i kid you not!

Let's try this one more time....  Talk coffee to me,  baby....Toby's Estate (this I say in my bedroom voice)

Peace Out!

It's been quite a while since I met up with Jayson J on the first day they opened. At the time the interiors were a little too stark for my taste, but the whitish walls did make the small space seem bigger. The big shelf was a nice focal point, and there were a few interesting knick knacks on display. I wonder if the Toby coffee table book is still there? That should be a good (albeit pricey) acquisition for book enthusiasts.

We all know how their coffee is; suffice to say, the quality is the same. I should stop getting their dark chocolate cookie though, it's too sweet even for a sweet tooth like me. My jaw feels like locking up just thinking about it 128518

They have their own washroom at the rear of the store, which everyone should appreciate.

Toby's Estate Coffee probably has the best Mocha I've had so far. Its chocolateyness was just right. It was served warm at a temperature where flavors can easily be noticed as it's not too hot.

As my caffeine tolerance is pretty low and I had the drink late in the afternoon, I was surprised that it didn't really keep me up the way I expected. I was up 'till about 2am but that's it. No palpitations.

The place is not as huge as the one in Salcedo but I actually like this more. Kinda cozy. 9786

I just liked it because their coffee is just warm, it would have been better if they're hot. I love coffee that allows a conversation in between sips.

I almost forgot how good Toby's Estate's coffee was as I haven't had the opportunity to visit their Salcedo branch in quite a while. I'm glad then that a nearer, more accessible branch opened near the office, recently.

I've been in their Shangri-la at the Fort branch multiple times and had the chance to order their Cafe Mocha, Cafe Latte and Original Bucky (on different instances 128522). There really is something about Toby's Estate's coffee flavors that's unique from what I'm used to ordering in other coffeeshops. The latte art was a fine finish--made me want to take my drink home, intact, and put it in a shelf for safekeeping 128513 I'm not an expert on third wave coffee, but this wave is definitely doing an amazing job in revolutionizing the coffee experience 128077🏼

It was my first time to try the Original Bucky as well. Complemented the drinks, but can be a tad too sweet at some point. Can do away with this next time.

Customer service was good in general, though they have staff members/cashier who were slightly aloof. Not a big deal though as the coffee, ambiance and overall experience offset this detail.

Looking forward to my next visit 128522

We availed a room only package in Shangri-La Fort, so I came back to Toby's Estate for breakfast. 128571

The barista recommended their Bacon, Pecan and Maple Belgian Waffle (Php 195) and I enjoyed it with a cup of their awesome Flat White (Php 150). It was the a great indulgent meal, indeed! The waffle was crispy and nicely cooked, and there was a generous helping of the bacon pieces and pecans and the maple syrup. The serving size was just enough as well. 128568

Again, I'm no coffee drinker but I loved their Flat White so much! It didn't need a lot of additional sugar, it was well balanced in terms of the cream to coffee proportion. I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I think the quality of their beans is exemplary! And I'm particularly in awe of how beautiful their latte art is! 128571

Apparently, they have a sister cafe here in Cebu with their coffee being served. I will definitely visit soon, and I can't wait to come back for another cup of coffee or Chai Chocolate here when I come back to Manila! 128571

My sister was so happy to know that there's a newly opened branch of Toby's Estate in Shangri-La at the Fort! This is my sister's favorite cafe. I can honestly say it's mine as well, and I'm no coffee drinker. 128568

My sister had her staple Iced Mocha and an order of their Bucky's and Cream. They're both so delicious! Mom had the hot chocolate and dad had the capuccino, both great as well. 128568

I ordered their Chai Chocolate and I absolutely loved it! It's an acquired taste for some, but for me the combination of the Chai Tea Latte and their awesome hot chocolate was excellent! I enjoy both drinks separately, but drinking it together was amazing! It was a nice pair to TE's sweets, too! 128571

Went here twice during our overnight stay in Shangri-La at the Fort. I'll write about it separately because it was a totally different experience! I hope they expand in Cebu and soon! 128571

Toby's latest branch is in my hood! Located in BGC at Shangri-la at the Fort's rear/walkway path, near Pink's and Brotzeit, I tried it around the tail end of its 1st week or 2nd week last July.

Alas, I think I tried it too soon.

They still had the wall decor covered so I didn't fancy the branch's incomplete look. It was certainly more compact than their branch in Salcedo Village and Ortigas Center. Though at least this had outside tables for the smokers, which was convenient (if the heat isn't a factor (then again, smokers will smoke under whatever if they "need" to, right? #speakingfrompastexperience) - - for smokers. 🙂

However due to the full house inside, and lack of a worthy view (plus I was also drained 128551 from the heat outside while exploring the Gourmand Market), I could only take this crappie selfie with the menu board and counter in the background. #MinsanLang

I decided to try their Iced Tea, Lemonada for the refreshing kick. It was actually quite good. A solid 4/5 though pricey at P140. Service was quick and friendly, so kudos for that. My wife's preferred Iced Tea, Passion Green, wasn't available, so she ordered an Iced Americano instead.

Anyway, there's a huge amount of coffee places in BGC so this is a more modest attempt by Toby's to establish itself in the Burgos Circle to 5th Ave area of BGC. Third wave coffee, this is not, but it's a solid choice in the area for those who love their fabulous brew/long black. I know I do. Sadly, no wifi unlike CBTL but not unlike most other coffee shops in country.

P.S. I do like the fact that they sell wine127863, RTD alco 🍾 (RTD = ready to drink, or what we locally call alcopop) so it's a more chill version of drinking place. Can't imagine myself drinking booze here, though. CAN YOU? Hahaha. 128540

(Sorry, a re-submission as I mistakenly reviewed Toby's Estate inside Edsa Shang but meant to be for BGC Toby's Estate. UPDATE: Last night, I saw their wall decorations are now visible, so I'm updating this review to 4 stars.)

Chai latte after movie

128204 sausage roll
This is way better than Starbucks. No air, no air. And the "sausage" was like embotido.

Chai latte is good as usual.
Minus one star because service kinda sucked.
The power outlets were malfunctioning on the other side. But the server told me the outlet near the door works.. And it did-- too bad not all are functional.

I just noticed the water refills here is not carried out. They do not care if your glass has ran out of water-- lemme compare this to their leviste branch which was Superb.

I went to the newly opened Toby's estate store in Shangri-la BGC. Luckily, there was a promo buy one take one on their coffee. Very very lucky! 128523

The servers were very accommodating and trying to find us seats since the restaurant was full. The restaurant was well lit with nicely decorated interior.

I ordered calamansi pie (P199) which I would say that it gave me disappointment at first because it was short and super thin but the taste did NOT disappoint. It in a form of a gelatin cream like consistency with graham and whipped cream on top and a little slice of calamansi. The taste was sour, it seemed like they placed generous amounts of calamansi. This dish is really worth it and a MUST order!

Next, I ordered cafe latte (P140). I could really taste the bitterness in there coffee. It doesn't seem to be diluted with water and the caffeine really kicks in after a few sips. Haha. 128516

Yes! It's finally open. There were several times already that we've been passing through this--way before brotzeit opened. They say it's all about the permits that's why the store opened up a little late (i understand y'all businesses who's having a hard time getting permits--like intend delay our documents!)

Enough of that, bahala na si duterte jan but i am enjoying my order tonight!
128204128525 chocolate chai
So you see their normal chai latte is quite milky, this one. This is chocolatey!! As in you need to stir this after appreciating the beautiful latte art! If you're the type of person who does not like chai (ahem Christina R) try this cause it initially will taste chocolate and then a little "kawayan" afterwards, just light. Starbucks has the worst/strongest tasting chai IMO. Barista agie made that beautiful latteart.

128204dark chewy
Kristin A and i ordered this good dark cookie. Dark but sweet. I can feel the sugar granules and butter taste. A comfort food.

The staff were warm and friendly. There's this staff who really talked with me while i was alone. I forgot her name. She was petite. Shes attentive refilling your water. There's not much customers. The place is a little bigger than its Lagaspi branch and can accommodate up to 50 pax. Can still accommodate smokers outside. Hey Marco L and Patrick V (forgot to reco!!) try this one when you're around.

Dont be fooled. There's a CR on the left corner near the counter. Explore and you'll find the unisex CR. Wash area right outside it.

Design is basic. Not yet done pa actually. There are bond papers sa wall pa. No plants or decors on the table too.

Security is perfect. Ang daming umaaligid na guard. It's because there's shangrila hotel.

I got really excited when I first heard that Toby's Estate will open at Shangri-La Fort. So when I knew that they just opened 4pm today, I went right away!

Of course, I ordered my favorite Flat White (150php). It's really delicious for me! I also had their Dark Chocolate Chewy cookie, and it has become my new favorite (aside from their original bucky's). 128584

Compared to their branches at Ecotower and SM Aura, this branch is relatively bigger and can accommodate more diners. They actually serve sandwiches here. Salads, pasta dishes, waffles, and snacks such as nachos and chicken wings are also on the menu.

P.S. What I really like is that they also serve bucky's ala mode here. Yeeeeess, another tambayan after dinner for me! Their operating hours is 7am-10pm.
