Default coffee spot of Team Kaladkarin, when in Makati, as they're one of the few coffee places open until midnight.

For this visit I brought a cousin visiting from overseas as he wanted to try the calamansi pie. I guess the tartness of the pie varies during calamansi season (if there is one) as I has happy it wasn't overly sour this evening. Didn't like the carrot bucky we tried, it was dry and the carrot pieces were bigger that the usual versions, it felt like i was eating my veggies.

Happy to see they had beer, as Im not a coffee person.

Got a couple of Wild Flour pastries as we passed it on the way here. So here I was taking photos of my haul, which was a good 5 mins, then a few moments more smelling it, smiling at the bread. Right before I take a bite, like a comedy scene from a movie, the waiter approaches me to say "may corkage" to eat outside food. Wahaha. Fine. Reasonably funny.

I attended a food tasting event at Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters Salcedo Makati Branch for the launch of their Seasonal Menu.

4 different dishes were presented and paired with our favorite drink/s at Toby’s Estate. And we had the following:

9749️Seafood Chorizo Paella for Php485.00 - 1108811088110881108811088️ 5/5
“A delicious mix of shrimps, clams and chorizo with roaster peppers and aioli”

9749️Braised Beef Tacos for Php320.00 - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5
“Braised beef ricotta and sour cream topped with salsa roja”

9749️Cubano for Php430.00 - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5
“Carnitas and forest ham with Kosher dill pickle, Dijon mustard and cheese.”

9749️Berry Crunch Smoothie Bowl for Php260.00 - 1108811088110881108811088️ 5/5
“Mixed berries and tropical fruits with an extra crunch.”

All the dishes we’ve tried were really good especially the paella and smoothie. For sure I will be back again and order the Berry Crunch Smoothies Bowl, it’s lite and refreshing.

Aside from the seasonal menu, I got an Iced Long Black served with milk and syrup. It’s a good pairing with Cubano and/or Braised Beef Tacos.

In addition, I would like to commend the staff and crew for providing an excellent service during the launch. They were polite, courteous and alert. Keep it up!

Toby's Estate Coffee has just released their Seasonal Menu items which are available unitl June! Got to try them for lunch the other day:

Berry Crunch Smoothie Bowl
I imagine having this for breakfast, with some tea. (Toby's Goji Melon to be specific) Refreshing. Beat the summer heat in Metro Manila with this one!

Seafood Chorizo Paella
Although I wasn't able to eat as much because I'm allergic to shrimp, I got a tiny bit of the paella and the chorizo and it was heavenly!

Braisef Beef Tacos
My favorite! The beef was flavorful! Ugh. Although it's a little expensive at P320, I'll still be willing to pay for this one. 128588🏻

Cubano
I found it a little too big but it's okay, bigger is better, right? (Not always) Charot. I was only able to finish half. Better eat this one while it's still hot though, as the bread will not be crunchy anymore.

Overall, I liked the menu items especially the Tacos and the Smoothie bowl! 128522 Had these with their new Single Origin Espresso, the Costa Rica El Jaguar!

PS: I heard they have P99 Cold Brew next week on all branches!

Good Morning starts with Great Coffee 9749
My pre-breakfast coffee is Toby’s Estate’s Long Black (P130). I would like to compliment its perfect blend.. not too strong nor bland! I rarely appreciate an Americano that has this taste. I also had their Sausage Roll (P100) quite small but its okay, it has a differnt sausage thought.. but its okay for me.

It’s been awhile since I catched up with a dear friend and we finally had a chance to over coffee and desserts. She’s a fan of third wave coffee, a term used to coffee spots serving higher quality of coffee, artisanal in nature or serving beans from unusual sources locally and international. Toby’s Estate was one of the pioneers of this global trend. It is a franchise from Australia.

She got flat white using their newest blend which they call Salcedo, named after this pioneering branch. Its bean origins are from Brazil and Sumatra. It is a seemingly mellow version of their Wooolloomooloo blend. This one has a stronger sense of sweetness from like guava, chocolate, and hazelnut flavors.

I got my go to Mocha with bold chocolatey taste, served lukewarm for a heightened taste of sweetness.

My friend and I shared three plates of desserts and we ranked each one based on top preference differently. Toby’s Estate has ample sweet options and that’s another reason why you should come by and try. She prefers Pistachio Cheesecake (Php 250) while I go for their original Bucky’s (Php 80), a fudgy and moist brownie bar. We also got one of their best selling, Salted Caramel Cake (Php 250).

Here at Toby’s, sipping coffee or forking desserts gives you an elevated experience. It’s not your usual break stop, it is a destination, a place you can dubbed your second home.

I always hear a lot of positive feedbacks about Toby's estate. One day, my friend and I are looking for a big delicious breakfast before getting things done in the office. Hahaha. We decided to finally try Toby's estate since it's just a few minutes walk from our office. I was so fickle minded upon seeing their menu. Everything seems to be sooo yummy. Here's my detailed review of Toby's estate:

PLACE:

The place is really nice. It has a simple yet stylish interiors. Place was kinda packed during that time but not crowded maybe because place was really spacious. There's an enough space in between the tables.

FOOD:

Dutch Eggs: I like the rustic presentation of this dish. It has two sunny side up eggs (baked not fried ✔️), Canadian bacon, hollandaise, and a thick slice of toasted bread (not sure if it's ciabatta but it looks like it). Eggs were cooked perfectly. Whites are cooked to perfection, no burnt edges (well it's baked), and no slimy undercooked egg whites. Yolk is golden and runny. You'll love how the yolk explodes upon slicing the egg. 🤤 There's an enough serving of Canadian bacon that gives you something to chew on on this dish. Bacon is not too salty nor too sweet. It has the right balance between saltiness and sweetness. I super love the eggs and the bacon! However, I was quite disappointed with the hollandaise and the bread. Hollandaise is quite runny for me. I want my hollandaise a bit thick. Their hollandaise seems to be a bit oily (maybe because of too much liquid butter?). Nevertheless, hollandaise still tastes good. Its taste really does complements the whole dish. Bread is a bit tough and bland for me.

Grilled Four Cheese with Chips: This is like a plate of chips then someone just hid his sandwich on it. Hahaha. Let's talk about the chips first, it was just okay. Chips were not that crispy but texture was still fine. The Grilled Four Cheese taste good but it doesn't seemed like it's grilled. Cheese is tasty and gooey which is great but the bread is quite disappointing. It seems like an ordinary bread (texture is quite monay-ish. Hahaha). It doesn't seemed like it's grilled nor toasted. I think it would be better and dish would be more appetizing if the bread was buttery and/ or if you can see a slight grill marks or toast on it.

PRICE:

Everything in the menu is quite pricey.

SERVICE:

Friendly and accommodating staff.

VERDICT:

Did I enjoy it? - Yes
Will I recommend it? - Yes
WillI come back? - Maybe

Great that they're open until MN on weekdays, not sure on the weekends.

Calamansi Pie is a hit & miss. Sometimes it's too sour, sometimes it's just right.

Pistachio Cheesecake has a lot of nuts, which I like.

Bagels are cheap, cream cheese is only 30 pesos. We like the chives the best. I also like the jalapeño & cheddar.

Thanks for the bagel and cream cheese treat Jayson J! Welcome back Russel F!

Still waiting for our turn, we decided to stay here first before we fill our tummies with ramen. 127836 #ImpromptuFoodCrawl

WHEAT BAGEL (35php) with JALAPEÑO CREAM CHEESE (55php). Not sure if they toast the bagel but I requested and our server said "ah, sige po!". Anyway, if ever they don't, make sure to ask them to toast the bagel. It's so much better that way, imo. It'll make the cream cheese kind of melt making it easier to spread. And also, if you like spicy, the Jalapeño + Cheddar cream cheese, though not super super spicy, is yummy. Sarap especially when you get to have the parts with Jalapeño bits! 🤗

And oh, the Original Bucky's was good. Was not at all impressed the last time I had this but surprisingly, it's better now. It's moist, not dry and the best part.. not too sweet. I remember not liking this because too sad but the simplicity made it so good this time. Masarap naman pala!!! 128517

And lastly, one of the best tasting milkshake can be found here. The wooloomooloo milkshake. They have 2 flavors available - Artic Wooly (coffee) or the Artic Mocha (w chocolate). Sarap sarap! 🤤128521

Great service from their staff. Unfortunately, the biscuit that comes with their fried chicken and biscuit meal was served raw ( see gooooeey messy pic attached) the server was attentive enough and I explained that its raw, it should be crumbly without the raw flour taste. He then brought it back to the kitchen not far away from our table. Me and my wife heard it straight from the kitchen staff in a somewhat sarcastic tone ("its made out of flour so it will taste flour") me and wife was like "oh okay". Looks like its just an isolated case, no big deal, we just let it pass.

10/10 for the server, pistachio cake and their Coffee (Salcedo Blend - must try128076🏼)

1/10 for the raw biscuit and the kitchen staff ☹️

Ps. I msg their IG account to let them know. They responded promptly and informed me that they will send the feedback to their kitchen staff. Great customer service!

I will defintely try Toby's again 🙂

Mixed bag. The French onion soup and long black coffee were great but the chorizo pasta left much to be desired. Plenty of it to be sure but, taste-wise, I think Figaro's is better. They also did not have ice cream despite having it on their menu. Too close to call so I will just go back and try other stuff and see how it goes from there...

After our satisfying and fulfilling meal at Mendokoro Ramenba we decided to have dessert at this pleasant coffee shop. The place was bright and spacious, and it has a relaxing ambience.

Carmen's Best Ice Cream 127846 Salted Caramel
128205Nice caramel color with hint of saltiness that balanced the sweetness of the ice cream. Super like!

Bucky's Original
128205This was served warm. Moist and it has a bitter-sweet chocolatey taste. Perfect!

The biggest branch with the most friendly and kindest staff. I really think this is the most relaxing place in L.P Leviste.

You wouldn't go wrong with an order of Traviata and Flat White. I also recommend their Smoked Salmon Bagel. Calamansi pie is already available during breakfast. A single breakfast meal here can get you through the day without being hungry.

Had a bit of nightcap here before it closed... Actually, a nightcap and more hehehe128522128522128522

It was the end of the day ....but I had something like I was just starting it...100841008410084

First, I craved for eggs, so I got the Traviata Skillet, eggs delight with my favorite cheery tomatoes and arugula with basil
oil...enjoyed it even more heartily with their rustic garlic bread 100841008410084️ yumyumyum 128525128525128525

Then I was also in the mood for cheese..... so I also tried their Grilled Four Cheese Ciabatta, also a winner for me ....especially with the spicy compote & potato chips 12852210084128077🏻

Got me their coffee to try out and chug down the foodies as well.... and of course saved some space enough to enjoy a cute cup of Carmen's Best Salted Caramel Ice Cream 12852210084128077🏻127881 super yum127775127775127775127775127775
