If you're looking for cheap YET authentic Japanese food, Tok-yu is the place for you. I would have given them 5 stars, but their staff are just lounging around and not even paying attention to customers.

This afternoon, Oliver and I passed by Tok-yu, a hole in the wall Jap restaurant along Panay Ave. Been here twice already and it's always good to be back to satisfy my cheap japanese craving. 128076🏼 less than 500 pesos for both mixed plate!!

Bonus: there was uni (a lot) on their mixed sashimi plate 128523128523128523

Super love Jap food! And this place near work definitely serves satisfyingly good Jap cuisine!

Service is fast, food is delicious, price is very reasonable. Not really liking the interior of the place but what the heck, I'm really after some Japanese quick fix.

Surprised with the enormous serving of their uni. That unique superb taste of uni that makes your blood pressure rise up is always a joy to eat. Their beef misono is very delicious too. As you can see in the picture, serving was really generous. You can share it with your eating buddy. Other than its cafeteria feel, I can say I love everything about Tokyu. Sushi and sashimi cravings satisfied!

If you're ok with a "just-kept" surrounding, then I guess you'll be ok with Tok-Yu. The place is like a small Japanese carinderia that's air-conditioned with SLIGHTLY welcoming waitresses who'd just assume what your exact order is than ask you your preference. The saving grace for this resto is their food. You'd get a fairly-priced and sized 6-pc ebi tempura for PhP180.00. Other good options are their mixed seafood misono that comes with sauteed beansprouts and rice for PhP170.00 and their Super Mix with Salmon sushi platter for PhP190.00. This is my most fair rating for a resto. Other than their food, don't expect too much. This is my shortest review, EVER!

Reasonably priced jap dishes. I like their take on their beef teppanyaki and tempura. I also enjoy their maki since it's relatively cheap compared to other Jap places.

Another hole in the wall resto tucked in one of the side streets of QC.

This is one go-to place whenever we crave japanese food and we can let go of spicy tuna sashimin tartare (cos they don't serve this :p)

I love how tok-yu is cheaper from other japanese restos yet you still get the same quantity and quality you get from 'fancier' jap restos. I even think that you get bigger servings! Haha

If you're a japanese food lover, i suggest you try tok-yu! The place is really simple and small, most of their customers order for take home. nothing fancy but the food is superb!

Super solve and mura pa!

The first time I ate food from this place, wasn't even in the restaurant itself. My dad and brother just took home some of their mixed sashimi and my mind went blank. Their sashimi was surprisingly satisfying and I enjoyed their sea urchin sashimi more than the last Japanese place I went to. The fish was fresh and super tasty. Hit me in the right spot. I knew I had to come back for more.

So I did. My brother and I went back there yesterday and I was surprised that it wasn't as I expected a Japanese sushi bar would be. The place was quiet, not a lot of people were dining, but it didn't stop me from ordering their Beef Ramen, Mixed Sashimi, and Ebi Tempura.
I went to heaven. Lol, kidding aside, it was really tasty. I loved that their Beef Ramen had Shitake mushrooms and it had an awesome aroma. The sashimi, were freshly made (as we saw the fresh tuna was brought into the kitchen). And lastly, the prawns for the tempura were huge! I was totally surprised and filled up. Because we were totally satisfied, we let them keep the change. For Japanese food this cheap, yet totally satisfying, I gotta say: THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. :)

Sorry there's no pic. I got too excited to eat and just gobbled everything before I could take a picture. :))

I really wanted to try this place. Ended up so disappointed 128547 And I really have to agree with ppl who reviewed this place, you really get what you pay for. Went here last night. Don't expect much from the place, it's small & looks like a canteen. Here are what we ordered: Gyudon and Tendon Donburis, Seafood Ramen, Mix Special Set. Their donburis are too sweet especially the Tendon. My rice was flooded with sauce which I didn't like. Prawns are tiny. Didn't like the vegetable too. Also it had like a piece of fish and crab meat but nothing special with the taste. Gyudon includes an egg, mixed veggies, and small pieces of beef mixed with scrambled egg i think. Tastes ordinary. Seafood ramen was pretty bland. Mix special set: Was just ok. Not impressed with the presentation. The sushis are tiny. Tuna sashimi didn't seem fresh. We didn't ate much of the ramen / sushi set, so we ended up taking it home. Not coming back sorry 128528

Second review but I'll try to make this one short since my first was long enough. Haha

It's always satisfying to dine here since the place is very intimate and peaceful. If you want to satisfy your basic Japanese cravings but don't want to spend much, this is the place to be. Cheap but legit! 128077127843127844127857

And can I just share that I used to not reveal publicly where this place is whenever someone asks me. I just don't want it to get or crowded or famous since it's the only resto where I'm most comfy to eat alone. Lol But I guess it's time to share. 128522

Long long overdue review.

I've been eating here ever since God knows when. Lol but seriously, this small but terribly good Japanese resto has been part of my life from childhood to present. From their original location before Crossings was built to the current, I am a fan. I eat here with family, friends, cousins and even when alone. Actually it's my favorite place to pig out alone. 128522

I just really love how they manage to offer VERY affordable but really good and satisfying basic Japanese food. My favorites here are mix sushi special, mix sashimi w salmon (salmon and uni are the highlights of this mix), Ebi tempura, sukiyaki and beef misono. They also have super sulit don buri! Actually everything's sulit even the red iced tea. Haha 128077

Tok-yu is a hole in the wall restaurant that serves an array of Japanese food. Well if you're looking for an authentic Japanese flair, this is not the place for you. Cheapest sushi, clean restaurant and a Red Iced Tea that melts my heart everytime, is what draws me to this place. :) But the ramen is weirdly sweet. Haha.
