It was a rainy Friday night and I couldn't get any PUV to Alabang. So decided to just get dinner inside SM Southmall while waiting for the rain to pass. Tokyo Tokyo is the first restaurant you'll see from the Alabang-Zapote Rd entrance of SM Southmall. Since I didn't want to walk farther, decided to just eat here instead.

They were running a one-day only Red Iced Tea Promo. You'll get a Sumo Red Iced Tea for only Php 25. Tried one of their Dotonburi - Chicken Oyakudon. Along with one serving of the sumo red iced tea.

Serving time was fast, not more than 5minutes. Didn't know what a chicken oyakudon was so didn't also know what to expect. But was a bit disappointed that there was uncooked egg white on top of the rice.

It's a rice topping, with breaded fried chicken, stir fried with egg at the last minute. I'm saying at the last minute because the uncooked egg white was probably because of that procedure. I'm not a fan of uncooked egg. I always like it well done.

Digging into the chicken though, I found that although it was still tender and juicy, there was something I didn't really like about its taste. Maybe it's the marinade or the batter. But whatever it is, it's enough for me to never order that dish again.

The red iced tea today seemed to have more grenadine than normal. Sumo serving was too much for one person so I highly suggest that you definitely get it for sharing. Such a sugar high.

Chicken Oyakudon Dotonburi ala carte Php 99

Was craving for Japanese food and decided to try Tokyo Tokyo's Seafood Ramen. It was a good quick fix. It has one shrimp tempura, two kami sticks, nori sheet, tofu cubes, scallions, half slice of egg, shredded cabbage and leeks. The broth is made from slow-cooked pork broth and quite creamy. The ground pork added made it more savory. I ordered the snack size (Php140) which was more than enough for me. Also ordered Cucumber Lemonade which is quite sweet for me.

For sulit and nakakabusog meals, Tokyo Tokyo's a good place to go. Why? For just 300 pesos you get to enjoy the sumo meal. You get to choose 2 meals with unlimited rice, and red iced tea. Choices are Beef Misono, Honey Chicken Teriyaki, Pork Tonkatsu, Prawn and Vegetable Tempura, and Chicken Karaage. 128513 Personally, I think the best combination would be Pork Tonkatsu and Beef Misono! Plus the side veggies (yasai itame?) are really good! 128521 The food here are on the salty side but how can you eat a lot of rice if the food are bland, right? 128514128517128541

Maki Donburi take out!

If you love Tokyo Tokyo's meals as it is when ordered at their resto, you would surely love their take out meals as well.

The Maki Donburi is well packaged - no leaks, utensils are complete and has the same generous rice and ulam serving as what they have at the store! I'd try this again anytime!

This is my first time to try a ramen aside from those easy to cook ones. 128516

I ordered spicy chicken ramen for merienda and I liked it. The broth was tasty and the chicken was indeed spicy. Something I didn't expect. The chicken somehow tasted like Bonchon's spicy chop minus the crispiness since it's soaked. I think this dish is really sulit.

It's been awhile since we last dined at Tokyo Tokyo. Meron pa pala dito sa Southmall.

I ordered sumo meal (beef misono and prawn and vegetable tempura) to be shared with my sister. My boy wanted cheeseburger. My husband ordered bento meal (prawn and vegetable tempura).

The tempura was ok. Nothing special but nothing to complain about either.
I didn't like their red iced tea. For me it tasted like medicine. I didn't like their california maki as well. It was too sticky and cold. I tried their mango kani salad and liked it.

I didn't know they got burgers if it weren't for my son. He almost halfed his burger. I tried it and didn't quite like it.

But overall, pwede na.
