I wanted to try the katsudon this time, so ordered the rosu katsudon set (PhP395), because I wanted the fat, ha ha! It was good and tasty, and still in love with goma sauce in the cabbage. Service was a bit slow, but superb ambience. Oh, and first time I tried dessert, the only dessert they are serving by the way, the frozen green tea (PhP175). Green tea ice cream topped with soft meringue, and definitely melts in the mouth. But wait, there's more the graham crusted bottom is topped with yema, and was seriously good.

Japanese food would always be on top of my list and Tonkatsu by Terazawa did not meet some of my expectations when it comes to taste and quality.

The place is located in Greenbelt 2 with a yellow-lit ambiance. Decorated with different sake bottles and Japanese calligraphy all over the place. The place to me really feels small because it was also packed with a lot of customers. That is good for business I guess, but the general feel is a bit uneasy for me.

We ordered their Chicken Katsu set and Hire Katsu Curry Set. Both are served with miso soup, rice, a side dish of tsukemono (Japanese pickled cucumbers), shredded cabbage and spiced corn.

Taking off first with the miso soup, and would say not as expected. The miso soup is lacking a bit of salty flavor am looking for. The breading of the chicken katsu did not hold off, probably because the chicken looks "watery" to me. But I asked the asst. manager and she mentioned it was the "juice" of the chicken since they are using thigh. Point taken, but for me, it seems like that chicken was not properly thawed and they threw it for frying. The cabbage presentation was great, but the sesame seed sauce is not at par with other Katsu restaurants.

Looking at the Hire Katsu Curry is enticing. Presentation wise, noticed that the curry sauce is separated from the rice. You can also order one more serving of the sauce. The breading holds off, which is great, but not as tender compared to other Katsu restaurants. The sauce was okay, with a mild spicy taste.

Talking about customer service, the usual greeting is done, she mentioned the name of the manager-on-duty and how to provide feedback. I also noticed that the servers tend to forget what you asked them. I asked them to refill my warm water and another cup of rice twice. Though you can see them serving other customers while I wait, they still need to at least have a proper way to divide which part of the area they need to be there and prioritize for serving.

I would say that this restaurant has still a lot of potential to improve. I hope they try to improve how they prepare and cook these food because a lot of Katsu restaurants are doing great on what they offer.

I had to kill some time before going home so I ate alone here. I didn't want to have the usual katsu so I opted for a katsudon! 128514 In the end, I wasn't able to finish the whole bowl of rice... 128517

The katsu itself was so-so. But I love miso soup... So I had like 5-6 refills I think? 128517 What I like about their miso soup is that they have carrots and radish in it! 128077🏼 Not just the usual tofu and seaweed. I really liked it since it was different.

We decided to eat here because my girlfriend's colleague from Cebu wanted Japanese, and it should be a restaurant in Greenbelt. Good thing for me as it is my first time eating here.

The restaurant is like every other tonkatsu restaurant. All main orders are served with unlimited rice, miso, fruits, and cabbage.

What I usually order with places like this is the Chicken Katsu, but this time I opted for Hire. Hire is basically a tonkatsu with fatty parts. It's good but not “oh my god” good.

The place's ambiance wasn't good though. The place was of course japanese themed, but the t.v. was displaying a sports channel, and the music was playing pop music. Nothing matched. The service was good though considering there were only two persons attending every table inside.

We actually have this in Cebu, but oh well! My friend was craving for Japanese food and I wouldn't say no to that either. It's ok too because I haven't eaten in this restaurant yet anyway.

I ordered the Oyster, Prawn and Hire Katsu and it was steady. Meats were tender enough, but for the breading, Yabu still wins it for me. The prawn was plump and juicy and cooked just right. The oyster tasted fresh, but I thhought it was too small compared to other deep fried oysters I have had. The hire was good too, not to greasy and tender.

Their tonkatsu menu is pretty solid, I believe at par with all the other Katsu place I know in the metro. What caught my attention though was their Cheese Katsu. It's literally the well-known and loved katsu topped with cheese sauce. I wanted to try it so bad cause I just love cheese, but I wanted to thwir plain katsu set as well. My friend just told me to get sauce as an add-on, which I got for Php 80. The waiter actually told me not to order it because it was not that good, but I couldn't help up so I just went for it. The waiter was right. 128569

I couldn't really describe the cheese sauce. It fell short on the cheesy flavor I was looking for. It was also too thick to be called a sauce. Good thing I did not have this poured over my meat entree. 128576

We also shared their Soba Salad. It was good too, but not too awesome. Pricing is just about the dame with all the other katsu places in the metro. I'd still come back but not too soon. 128569

Dine here earlier and it was a disappointment. We literally choose here cause we want their matcha cake as dessert *ill come to that part later.

Ordered their hire pork katsu and i didnt like it at all. Among all places that specializes in katsu ie yabu, saboten, kimukatsu, this one could be far behind. The meat was kinda brownish and small in volume. Didnt taste anything premium at all. Miso soup taste different, with carrots n stuff it was kinda localized. Rice wasnt at par in terms of standard. Sauce of cabbage was not good at all, cant describe it.

Floors were sticky and temperature were warm especially at the far end corner. Now onto their matcha cake, it was the reason of my previous high ratings but tonight was a disappointment, we ordered 2 cakes but only 1 was served so we ordered another more. The one served was really small, seriously it was really small and the braso de mercedes at top was flat as half an inch, i show the saved matcha pic to the server of my previous visit but was told na ganun talaga. Oh well, its a good thing i waited for the other cake to be served that the new one was way too small as compare to the 1st one. We just cancel it and proceed with the billing. 128544

Well, this place seems odd for dessert while i promise to be back for their katsu, i cant seem to get enough of their frozen green tea at 175. They seems to have few servers at 10pm but nonetheless the service was good.

I ordered for 1 green tea frozen, my friend took a small bite and that was enough to order another one. Top layer is a brazo de mercedes like while middle portion was a heap of fine matcha ice cream, at the bottom is a sweet graham like base layer. 1 order aint enough.

Tonkatsu by Terrazawa is a part of the Bistro Group and offers great tonkatsu. They usually have promos every Wednesday wherein their specific tonkatsu is half off. For Bistro Group card members, you can avail 20 or 25% off on Mondays. So yeah, why not give it a try. 128521 I tried their Rosu Tonkatsu and it was okay. It's nicely fried and goes well with their sauce. The usual with tonkatsu places is their unlimited serving of cabbage and rice. Unfortunately, their fruits are not refillable so yeah, I was pretty disappointed with that. The service tend to be slow too. But overall it was a good one. Will I go back? Maybe. Their menus tells me that they have quite something to offer. The interiors is very Japanese-y too, so why not! 128522

It was a but late one Monday night so there few restos open after 9pm. We were walking along the Greenbelt strip until we came across this place. To be honest, I do not know this place exists (sorry!). We checked their menu out and decided to give it a try. Just like any common katsu place, the choices are more or less the same together with unlimited cabbage, rice and soup. The only difference is the sesame seeds has its own container that pre-grounds and you just pour it in your sauce.

By far, the worst katsu place I've eaten in. The miso soup tasted more like sinigang than miso. The cabbage seemed old already. The sides weren't great but maybe it's only because I hate corn. The katsu. Oh the katsu. It was too small. The breading was not crunchy at all and keeps falling off (see picture). The meat was not tender and definitely had no flavor. I got the Wafu Rosu Katsu which was 50 pesos more expensive than the regular Rosu Katsu and the only difference was that I got a soy sauce. 50 pesos for soy sauce?? Are you kidding me? The only thing that went right in my meal was the gohan and the hot tea. I wish I had eaten at Maisen instead. 128532

I wondered why I choose this, I should've ordered a Curry dish so I can compare it with Yabu's but I opted for something different. The boss of all Katsu's, Rosu. I like it with tonkatsu sauce, it's a bit tasteless without it. I also liked how the presentation of the whole set was made. It was more appetizing than the way Yabu presented it. However, I had a slight problem with the rice. The smell of the rice overpowered my appetite which didn't happen at Yabu. I still ate two bowls though. The cabbage was also refreshing and removes that umay taste.

Always my problem, the rice 128532

Availed the 50% off Katsuholic Wednesday.

We were there at 11:30 for us to seat comfortably and be able to go back at work by 1. So yes we got a couch table. We advance ordered 4 sets but they thought our 2 other officemates won't go so they served 2 sets only. Hassle. 128552

Anyway..
Miso 5/5
Rice generous serving of rice you won't ask for a refill. 128514
We got Rose Katsu BTW, I have an after taste for the fat but still good for me.

Could have given this review a 5 star. But I believe that dining is an experience that goes beyond the sense of taste. Our first time here was not so pleasurable. We're availing the 50% off promo and the staff were not accommodating especially the head staff Aubrey Claire Gaerlan. She's giving the vibes that we're not welcome but we're here for the food right? *Whuuusaaa*

This is the juiciest tonkatsu I ever had. Yabu's nice but I find their breading oily and their meat dry. Ginza Bairin's a lost cost now. Saboten's a lil shy in giving meat. Tonkatsu by Terazawa sits in the middle of the pack with the right balance of things. Too bad they have the worst cabbage amongst the group.

Frozen Green Tea is to die for! I can have this, Frozen Brazo by Mochi Cafe and Conti's Mango Brazo as my top desserts in town.

The first time we dined in here is not memorable. Staff are unfriendly maybe because that is Tonkatsu Wednesday, 50% off of their Hire Tonkatsu. It makes me feel like I don't want to come back in this resto. But got to admit that their Tonkatsu is better than other tonkatsu in the city.

Green tea brazo is also an amazing piece of dessert. A slice is actually good for 3 or 4 cause it's super sweeeeet.
