The first of the long weekends have dawned upon us so we decided to go up Tagaytay for a quick cool down before the work week ensues.

As expected the flock of folks staying in the area has swollen up so most of the known establishments are full. We chanced upon Tootsie's in the past but never really got around to trying them out. And since they have a few tables open we decided that it was finally time to.

We wanted something different from the usual Bulalo fare that Tagaytay is known for. So we ordered the Crispy Beef Ribs for a change, some Tagaytay Veggies, Garlic rice, and Spinach Chips and Cheese Dip.

Our order took longer than usual to prepare despite its simplicity so it was a bit of a downer.

The Chips came first. I was honestly expecting something that looks like Crispy Kangkong but apparently what we ordered was Nachos with Spinach and Cheese Dip. A bit disappointed but was too hungry to complain. The dip is good although you can tell they just nuked it warm as the globs of cheese formed at the top and it didn't have the same consistency as the base. It was good but something that I wouldn't necessarily order if I knew what it was. I was perplexed why it took them 15 minutes to whip up a 3-5 minute dish.

The rest of the orders came about 10-15 minutes after.

The Beef ribs, I was told, was good for 3 people. What we got was, at best, good for 2. The Beef is cooked well and wasn't tough. The gravy sauce though should just be deleted altogether since it tastes bad and just makes the dish worse. A soy based sauce with calamansi and chili would have been better.

The Tagaytay veggie dish was simply a joke. I was expecting better vegetables since we are in Tagaytay. What we got was carrots, sayote, and string beans. With pork pieces. For the price of vegetables locally, and given their proximity to the market, they could have done way better.

We probably didn't order the right dishes as the feedback I've gotten from friends who have tried this place was more positive. But given the competitive food scene here in Tagaytay they should really step up and do way better. Will I go back? Depends. But I likely will not given the wide spectrum of better choices around.

Worth travelling all the way to Tagaytay just for the sinigang. This is an excellent resto!

Wow! The food in this place is so good. So comforting. Just like how my grandma used to make 'em. The sinigang na baboy was done perfectly and so is the embutido, the roast chicken, the lumpiang hubad and the fried tawilis. All the dishes we ordered were excellent.

I was really anticipating this visit to Tootsie's since it was featured on a morning show. Upon serving the dishes, I was disappointed because I expected more. These were the usual Filipino dishes, but nothing so special. The names and descriptions on the menu were catchy, though, but didn't live up to my expectations. Ambiance was okay, but no "wow" feeling. Service was also a little bit slow.

Our Tootsie's dining experience was.... Ok. I was expecting more. I ordered Mommy Inday's B&B (baby back ribs and beans). I was kinda disappointed when they served it. I was expecting ribs on a plate and small bowl of beans on the side, something IG-worthy! Lol! But what I got was a bowl of beans with 2 small pieces of meat that I could barely see. It tastes good though. (Or gutom nalang talaga ako nun?) haha! I also got the Turon Halo-Halo. It was okay, Kanin Club's turon halo halo is still ze best!! The ube palitaw was really good! Fish and chips, inihaw na liempo and Micko's Chicken Wings were okay. Nothing really special.
Ambiance - 3/5
Food - 3/5
Value for Money - 2/5

Disappointed. Rip off! 128553
The maliputo is 199 per gram? If you drive a little bit far there's lot of restaurant who serve maliputo as well for 150 per gram! Everything here is expensive with no quality. Sorry for being such a bad lady. But really sometimes the truth hurts! 128563

Food is excellent - very homey and not commercialized. We ordered crispy pata, bangus, bulalo, saging puso and ensaladang mango. I will definitely go back. :)

Try their Kare Kare! Delicious...no umay factor unlike others I have tasted. I was able to eat the left over the next day, still yummy to me. If you're looking for something different try the buko pansit, which has a tinge of sweetness to it. Peeking at other foods from the neighboring table everything looks good to eat. Price range per order is approximately P200 to P300.

Last Sunday, we went all the way to Tagaytay to celebrate my sister's birthday at Tootsie's along Tagaytay Rd.

They serve home-cooked Filipino meals. We ordered Bulalo, Kare-Kare, Tawilis, Lechon Kawali, Ensaladang Mangga, Tadjang Inihaw, Inihaw na Bangus and Leg of Lamb.

What I like about Tootsie's was the homey ambience and the great service. The food was okay but they serve small servings lang. Must try is the Leg of Lamb, Laing and Sago't Gulaman 128077

Skip the usual Leslie's and go straight to Tootsie's for a different Tagaytay dining experience. :)

After my travel from calatagan... Tagaytay!! As i've said to refrain na from starbucks, i still failed kasi knna i did it again.

The food was okay. I mean it was great. It was just in my opinion nothing extra ordinary... Except for the fish from taal that they sell 190 per 100kg... Well, i ddnt ordered the dish cause the smallest was over 500kg.
That's the second reason why i'm giving the place a four star... It mostly serves for sharing.

But. I ordered lechon kawali, oh my gulay (mixed veggies), Allen's salad, hot chocolate.

The gulay.. I sensed too much MSG was used.
LECHON Was perfect. Tender jiucy.
The salad: balsamic, grapes, pili nuts, olives, cheese.... Perfect din

The hot chocolate.. Too sweet. Gumuguhit. But plus for their pinipig.

Like as concha's good for reunions... Cguro pag mga 40 yrs old n kayo.

Btw, they do have some flies 'hanging around'
The staff were accommodating too
CR: one for ladies, one for ladies and gentlemen... Haha.. Mas marami atang babae pumupunta d2... Really nice CR got powder and alcohol pa... But mirror not maintained

Everytime we pass by Tootsie's, I always end up leering at the place. A lot of cars parked outside means that food and service is good. Probably?

Sa wakas na try din..

I tried the Roast Chicken Kawi for P305 which I liked. It was okay but there's something missing. I don't know if it needed more seasoning..

Service was bad. Waited 40 minutes for the food and I had to follow up twice. I also asked for the bill twice.

I mentioned to eiLeeN T I'm giving 4 stars pero 3 lang pala hehe.

Tootsie's offers international cuisine but we decided to go local with sinigang na hipon, fried tawilis and enseladang ginadgad na mangga. Excellent choices, did not disappoint. The sinigang broth is extra sour which has the makings of a deliberate signature taste to it. Fairly priced for dinner for four in my opinion, so yes, I would highly recommend it to everyone! 128522

Unfortunately, there is no photo because we were all hungry.

For a group of 8, we ordered crispy pata, lechon kawali, sinigang na bangus, sinigang na hipon, binagoongang baboy, oh my gulay, pakbet and kinilaw na puso ng saging. That sounded like a lot but it wasn't.

The vegetable dishes will only serve two people max. Oh my gulay turned into my gulay with the lack of, guess what? Gulay! The kilawin was good but again a small bowl was only served. Pakbet was also OK.

We ordered pork dishes but the binagoongan was not to my liking. Crispy pata is my favorite, it was quite big enough for the group to share. The lechon kawali tasted good but it's only enough for two people to share, how depressing.

I have to say that both sinigangs were good! The broth if the sinigang na hipon was very tasty. I like the distinct taste of calamansi. My only beef with it was that the shrimp wasn't fresh. The sinigang na bagus was also good, it would have been better if it was bangus belly! Yeaum!

We were all full after, it didn't seem to feast-y as I had imagined it to be. Plus, i felt it was expensive for the small servings - the veggies most especially!!! Might not go back there though. Surprisingly, it has a lot of customers ah! The place filled up after we got there. They also have a tent outside that can accommodate more people. Interesting to see it full.
