Tori Ichi Yakitori & Bar is located at the lower level of the expansion wing of Festival Mall. The prices are relatively expensive for the amount and quality of food you are getting. I would suggest that you order their Yakitoris instead of the ramen and rice bowls, which was a letdown. I ordered the Chicken Yakitori Bowl for 200 plus pesos and the amount of food was dismal. The chicken was not enough for one person, it was not enough for the rice. The California Maki we ordered was not firm and broke down easily when picked up with a pair of chopsticks. The ramen was just alright but prices are already comparable to the best in the market, yet the quality is nothing close. The noodles are not as plentiful, soup was thin and watery and the meat was not soft to the bite. We paid a little over 1,800pesos and yet we were still left feeling unsatisfied. If not for the accomodating and kind service, our visit could have yielded a lower rating.

It has been sometime since I last visited Festival Mall. Yeah, I’m sort of a crowd avoider if there’s such a thing as that. But I was able to visit it a couple of times late last year, especially the new wing which I really liked. It looks so clean and new. Haha. Along that visit, my friend and I got hungry. And we stumbled upon this new yakitori joint that filled our tummies good. 🙂

Being that it’s a yakitori place, it’s just right that we order yakitori of course. At that time, they had this deal where you can get 10 pieces of yakitori for only P550. I’d say that’s a pretty sweet deal! They call it the Tomodachi Set. The only downside is that you can’t choose the yakitori type. I wasn’t able to ask what were served to us but they were all grilled well. Some had this rubbery texture (probably the innards) but I liked how simple each stick was.

Let's rewind a little, we were served with some complimentary anchovies. It had a slight burnt taste but was masked too by its sweet and spicy flavor.

We saw this at a table before entering the resto. From afar, it looked like a takoyaki. And it attracted us to dine here. Haha. Sadly, it’s not a takoyaki. But the taste of their Tonpei Yaki (P 155) was pretty good. It tends to be a little salty as reviewed by my friend.

We decided to pair our dishes with their Egg Rice (P 90) which had some sauce and tempura flakes on it. It was topped with a poached egg. Overall taste was good and simple.

It’s nice to have this down south. They have a couple of branches all over Metro Manila. So if you happen to crave for some good yakitori, you might just stumble upon this one. 128521

Pretty decent yakitori "atbp" place. Best to come in a group and share a big set so you get to try the different sticks.

Strangely what stood out for me were 2 non-yakitori dishes. The grilled squid and the matcha ice cream! Bawal ata sabihin who the supplier is so the waiter did give us a clue: local and found in supermarkets. Let the hunt begin! Hahaha

First time here and probably not going to have an encore. Food was nice but it's not "sulit" for its price. Find the service, taste, and the ambiance to be needing improvement. I'm so "tori", "ichi" na ko babalik.

One of the best 1500 we've spent on Jap food 🤗.

We enjoyed everything we had even for the grilled salmon head that was served with the gills still intact!128565. It was pretty disgusting and we called their attention about it & they apologized properly. None the less, it was a good fish head.

All the yakitori were good, quite tiny though. Love the tuna roll & I liked that They were Generous on the enoki and that they had good asparagus too. The rice bf had was amazingly good. First time to try the asuhos sushi and it's meaty but might be a bit freezer burned, not really sure. The roe was a bit old too.

Great service most of all.
