If you're a huge fan of Japanese cuisine, this is the place for you! Tsumura's food is very authentic and fresh. Eating here just reminded me of Tokyo! Try the chirashidon if you enjoy sashimi!

Isn’t it funny how life finds ways to make you realize who your real friends truly are? I have experience having people come in and out of my life. And for xx years, I have let go of so many hands and bid farewell too many times for me to remember. But the most painful goodbye is always with the last piece of salmon sashimi. (Thought it’ll be an emotional review?)

Sushi Tsumura has been one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Manila. It serves great sashimi and to die for salmon aburi. (I get frustrated when I visit Japanese restaurants who decline my request for aburi.)

A few months ago, I had lunch with R and his dad. Since I wanted to give a good impression, I tried my best to be pretty that day. I applied some eye make up, a bit of blushed on and lip stain. As soon as I got in R’s car, he was… horrified! He said I didn’t look nice at all and that I look better not wearing make up. He even told me to never do it again! *cries*

Anyway, after removing about 70% of my failed make up with tissue, we finally arrived.

R quickly ordered 20 pieces of Salmon Aburi (PHP80 per piece), Tuna Teriyaki (PHP550), Tempura and Grilled Mackerel (sorry, forgot to take note of the price).

We quickly ate the salmon aburi as soon as it was served. Served warm, it was love at first, second, third and so on bites. Soft and melts in your mouth salmon on top of high grade Japanese rice, it was just perfect.

The tempura was pretty good too. Prawns used were fresh and the batter was pleasantly crunchy. However, it was just your usual good tempura which you could get elsewhere (ahem, Asakusa).

The Tuna Teriyaki, as always, was great too! The nice slab of toro wonderfully glazed with sweet teriyaki sauce was so mouthwatering that I finished my bowl of rice and even had some of R’s. (So much for giving a nice impression.)

R’s dad’s grilled mackerel looked good too but I was too shy to ask for a bite.

Overall, it was a great lunch. Oishi!

Free food is great. FREE and DELICIOUS food is AWESOME.

I got treated to lunch by my teammates last week here at Tsumura. It's a super blessing because the food here isn't "tsu-mura", it's "tsu-mahal" 128517

I'm a scallops fan so when I saw the photo of the teppanyaki lunch set with tons of scallops, I went for it! 128584128055 As for the main protein, you get to choose between chicken or beef, of course, I went for the beef!

Best. Choice. Ever.

I loved the scallops, the beef, the fish, the squid and also, the giant scallop on top. 10084️ I was so full! I mean, look at that set! A bowl of chahan, a potato salad, miso soup and some pickles. I even asked for some curry sauce from my friend to add to my rice. Hihi128586

They also have this huge sashimi platter... Around P2,000? Better share with a big group if you want to try it! 128077🏼

A cup of sake beneath the cherry trees and an order of agedashi tofu and gohan to satisfy cravings.

I'm used to a lighter sauce for the tofu but i liked that the thicker sauce works with white rice. The tofu was silky, hot and tasty. These were two pieces only for P180 but it had some kani and mushroom in it. Heaven! 9786

It's been awhile since we've eaten here but i noticed the service is much better during lunch hour than dinner. I missed this place!

LOOOOOOOOVED the Japanese-style steak!!! So soft, perfect sear on the steak, the sauce was perfect! Was pleasantly surprised it came with a Japanese potato salad (yummy!) plus a fruit plate after. Complete meal only for php540! Had traditional Japanese tea to complement my feast. :)

Do you see how large the slices of salmon were???? Dang...! Super milky smooth, yummy salmon. Beautiful and extremely satisfying to the palette.

Now THIS was an awesome dinner for a pretty long and intense day yesterday.

Service was friendly and prompt like my last (first) visit...This is my second visit but I didn't take pictures of what we ate here last time (silver sashimi fish was amazing! And the uni and squid sashimi was divine -- must try, you guys!!!!)...

I was delighted to try new dishes last Friday. My date never fails to treat my taste buds. He's been telling me about Tsumura, a japanese resto at 2nd floor of Corporate Plaza in Makati.

Last Friday, the place has few diners, mostly were Japanese. I have a hint that this place serves great Jap dishes. Since i am accompanied by someone who's been in the place for many times, i just sit down and relax.

I can't hardly remember the names of the food serve. For the appetizer.. (My apologies I forgot the name, but not the taste), we had a calamari. This one is not the usual it has cheese at the middle. It melts in your mouth kinda food 128523

Main dishes we had are just so perfect. Beef Usuyaki, its mushroom stuffed beef strips, with sauted garlic and spinach. Perfect for rice 128521 and lastly, Kaki Teppan. 6 pcs of baked oysters. Need i say more? Its oysters!

Place serves authentic japanese dishes, price is worth the taste. 128077🏻

I'm absolute sucker for japanese food. From rolled, grilled, fried and raw when it came from the land of the rising sun, I'm crazy for it!10084128525127832127842127843127836127847
First, this place can use a little twerk on interior upgrade. So does their menu. It's kind of blast from the past type of menu. A porfolio of common bond paper printed illustrated menu. It's really overwhelming actually. They almost have everything known dish of Japan. I can't say if its a good thing since I'm a bit confuse which to order. Not to mention its a bit pricey but you'll certainly do it again and again if you're looking for the almost, 99.9% authentic japanese food this is your place. I would know, I lived and breathe Japan for more or less two years.9996🏼128540
Anyway, the food's great. service was adorable. They were all friendly and accomodating. We were two at the table and our bill was P2,080. Shocking right?128561 We had about three orders. I hardly remember because this is a late review. Here's the deal, craving for the real thing? It better align with your payday..128526128517128514

This hidden gem secretly smack dab in the middle of the bustling Makati business district is Platform 9 3/4! You wouldn't know it's there unless you were looking for it.

Apparently, it's a mecca for foreigners looking for real, authentic Japanese food and don't want to venture into little Tokyo. The ambiance offers that Japanese tranquility. The decor is vintage Jap circa a lil post WWII. I like how they're all evenly spaced to allow for private conversations and there are group hubs located on the sides.

They have an extensive menu. Page upon page of Japanese food items that'll make you grow dizzy. Personally, I hate big menus with each page boasting a new specialty. It's so difficult to choose. So we ended up randomly picking a set of sushi, rolls and I had the sukiyaki rice set.

Their rolls are so-so. They're small and unimaginative to my Omakase loving mind. The sushi set, on the other hand, revived the whole meal. Variety is the word of the day. Fresh variety. I loved each and every single sushi I tried. Then there's the sukiyaki rice. I've always loved the texture of having noodles and rice mixed together ala Mongolian style. It was really yummy though something I wouldn't necessarily come back for.

It's a great place for client meetings but not necessarily when you're on a Friday night date. Price is a little on the high side with a meal for two almost costing 2K for three dishes.

Mr. Tsumura has a huge fan. This fan can’t stop raving about Tsumura Sushi Bar that after antigravity yoga, he invited me to have late lunch there. (And a couple of months later, we went again, this time with his dad.)

Hello, [Mr.] Tsumura!

The place wasn’t packed when we went. I guess there are more people during dinner. R knew which ones to order and chose Aburi Sake (PHP80/piece) and Toro Teriyaki (PHP550). Since it was pretty warm that day, I opted to get Cha Soba (PHP330).

The aburi salmon was uhhh-mazing. R told me to eat it right away since aburi salmon is best eaten warm and he’s absolutely right. I was surprised though with the generous serving of wasabi between the salmon and rice. A few tears were dropped as my drink was not yet there when I devoured my share.

R was also hungry that time so he wasn’t so open to sharing his toro teriyaki. But I still managed to get a bite and it was pretty good too! It was fresh and cooked well as the tuna was soft and juicy. The teriyaki sauce was also delightful, adding sweet flavor to the dish.

My cold soba was also a treat on a hot afternoon. The noodles were firm and had a nice bite to it. The dipping sauce was slightly sweet and with a bit of ginger and wasabi, it created a lovely taste that complements the rather bland cold soba. And just like other soba, it was a bit challenging to get every single noodle as it was slippery.

As mentioned earlier in this post, I went to this restaurant twice. But I’d like to delay posting the other dishes I enjoyed since I’m already salivating just remembering the ones I had in my first visit! Till next time!

Detractor over here! Originally rated this place 2 stars because of my frustration over the ridiculous spicy salmon sashimi that was 550 bucks for a hand full of mayo smothered salmon. At one point i really doubted if it really was salmon because i couldn't taste the buttery flavor you get from raw salmon. With all the rave reviews here in looloo - specifically for their sushi - i couldn't help but feel disappointed. It was remarkably overpriced and I would've walked out of the place if I wasn't starving. The torikatsu teisyoku set for 530 saved the day. It came with rice, shredded lettuce, veggies, 5 sides: pickled pickles, tamago, miso soup, egg pudding and sunomonu (vinegared dish) and two small slices of fruit at the end. The egg pudding was interesting.. Think salty lecheflan with crab sticks and meat in it. Service was alright, the only neg is that the server recommended the salmon. Ugh! Overall it's a Yes 128077🏼-to the torikatsu set, hell-to-the-no to the pricey-spicy salmon.

Dinner w our japanese friends and wanted some sushi + whisky= Tsumura it is!

We call this place TsuMahal as the prices are on the high side yet food quality and service justify it all.

Fresh seafood flown from Japan everyday and prepared by a Japanese sushi chef, what more can you ask for?

Though am really not a fan of raw food ,need to order some cold soba, tempura ,Salmon teppan and US beef teppan ...all for me hehehe

Japs had a great time and reminiscing good old glory days of their womanizing, claiming they are all Takuza now....i dont believe them haha

Recommendation: Mixed Sushi ( Toro and Hamachi were divine)

PS: need to be here early for lunch as place gets crowded w executives w a japanese appetite.

The best salmon sashimi in town. IMHO. 128522. If you decide to order the mixed sashimi, order the "special". It's a world of difference from the "regular". Go for the lunch sets if you're hungry. Ala carte menu might be too costly for some 128522128077🏽128077🏽.

Meatless Fridays are not supposed to be indulgent. And they're usually not but see, my friend was having a terrible day and needed something good. The restaurant was her choice.

This Cha soba certainly was filling! Last time I had it, I felt that something was lacking and i remember what it is now! I failed to mix the raw quail egg in the dipping sauce to which I did this time. It gave the sauce more body.

Chirashi being passed up feels like a sin that we ordered one to share. As always, the fish is fresh and the miso soup tasty.

My co-worker ordered Gyoza, uni sashimi and something else - it made her night better. Good food does wonders for your soul!

Not again?! YES, A-gain!!! I've been recommending the restaurant to a number of friends and all they want to do is try it - with me!!! I am not one to say no. But after two consecutive orders of chirashi in the past days, this doll is going for the next best thing, cha soba.

While some people appreciate this cold buckwheat noodle as much as i do, i cannot say the same for my family. It's just not their TOM order. Sadly, i cannot rave about it the same way i did with hirashi. How much quality can you get out of soba? The noodles were fresh, the dipping sauce and condiments were presented in such a way that you'd be enticed to make the effort to dip it and just not dump it onto the soba. Pretty impressive, but why wasn't i? Ahhh, yes it was because of the service. It must have been the last shift but the servers weren't paying much attention to us, they looked tired and were a bit unpleasant. That was kind of disappointing to my guest.

Oh well, i will still come back to try their FRIDE RICE and this just because upon leaving, their japanese chef smiled so bright and gave such a warm ARIGATO! Ahww, he looked so happy we ate im his resto!

You'll know if it was a GOOD first time if you'd like to repeat the experience. I got to influence two other friends who have been |ooloo reviewers to get to enjoy the sushi goodness with me. It's timely since Kunie G, Ginny B and I haven't seen each other in a while and we're all working around the area. My co-workers also wanted to eat here so I separated from them when the ladies arrived. Wow! Two sets of friends in one resto, cool! It could have been my birthday already!

I couldn't get enough of the Chirashi goodness that i ordered it again and so did Kunie. Ginny went a different way and ordered some salmon and tuna sushi. You can ask her to review it, hey Ginny B where's your review, huh? We were almost done with our meal when I got a call from Kirby G, he said he'd follow with Chichi T! Woohoo! Thank goodness for #teamclingy to hook up with old-time |ooloo reviewers they haven't met.

Service wasn't as sharp as the first time i was here, maybe we sat in a corner but the table composed of three Japanese businessmen also had a hard time catching the attention of the servers. Wasn't too bummed about it.

After the meal it was a toss up between dessert or drinks. The latter won and we headed to Terry's. I had such a splendid time that my co-workers told me that I looked like I did have a fun time they didn't even want to say goodbye.

Ladies, it was fun dining with you, let's hang out more! I miss you already!
