Had dinner with comare from Ozamis, enjoyed the French bistro ambiance, good Chinese food, friendly staff.

PAN FRIED WHITE TURNIP CAKE IN XO SAUCE php 248
Cubes of deep fried shredded radish, garnished with chopped spring onion, sauted white onion, kinchay and XO sauce. Love this dish, always ordered this dish.

SWEET AND SOUR BALSAMIC SPARERIBS php 328
A twist from the usual vinegar and orangy red sauce, the aroma from the balsamic vinegar stimulate your senses. Just the right amount of balsamic vinegar, not overwhelming.
very good.

Simply the best in town. No other pork bun beat this one

Hooray for Sunday rest days! 128158 Josh and I have been together for 2 1/2 years now, and what better way to celebrate this than to add a restaurant to our list of #NewRestaurantsFor2017! 127881 (Lol, we're actually just coming up with reasons so we can eat out HEHEHE) We initially wanted to try out a French restaurant in Shangri-la Plaza, but later on decided to just eat at Megamall instead.

I've always been curious of Tuan Tuan Chinese Brasserie, with its pretty interiors and intriguing fusion cuisine of Chinese and French. So, here we are. Since I've read that they offer noodle soup dishes, I deemed it to be perfect for my sick self (I'm currently having a bad cold). 127836

It was surprisingly quite easy to get seats, given that it's a Sunday lunch time. I guess many people are still intimidated by its extravagant and chic interiors, thinking that the menu items might be too expensive for their budgets. Upon browsing through the menu though, I found out that most of the items are generally reasonably priced. 128077 Here's what we got:

✔ CRISPY BARBECUED PORK SNOW BUNS (Php 148 - 3 pcs) - 1108811088110881108811088
A visit to Tuan Tuan wouldn't be complete without this signature appetizer. I bet most of us have already tasted the pork buns from a well known Michelin starred franchise restaurant. In comparison, I would have to say that I like Tuan Tuan's buns more. While the filling is noticeably less than their competitor, the flavor was definitely there. Also, the amount of filling was just right so that you won't get that umay feeling from too much filling. 128584 The buns themselves taste less sweet, and the crisp exterior of the bun plus the soft interior was so on point! I appreciate that you can have it as an appetizer, but is also quite filling if you'll enjoy it as a standalone snack item. I'd have to give my point to Tuan Tuan for this. 128076128513

✔ FOR ME: ELIXIR HERBAL SOUP SET (Php 528) - 11088110881108811088
I was actually choosing between this and the watercress soup, but a quick question to our server (I asked her what's the best soup for someone with a bad cold) led me to order this instead. Each soup set consisted of the noodle soup, two toppings, one side dish, and one beverage of your choice. The elixir herbal soup is a thin soup with ginseng root, goji berries, and Chinese red dates. One sip and I'm transported back home! I felt like I'm eating a noddle soup cooked by my mom or grandmother. The soup is light yet flavorful, and definitely screams with authenticity. Of course, I enjoyed eating the goji berries, my favorite Chinese soup topping since childhood! 128525 The beef tendon and sliced pork made the dish even more enjoyable, as each piece was juicy. These two included toppings also matched the taste profile of the soup really well. I have doubts with the noodles though. I'm not sure if the hofun is the best suited noodle for this type of soup. 128532 This set also comes with a side dish -- the Pan Fried Boneless Chicken with Teriyaki Sauce. It came in a relatively big serving. My first bite was quite enjoyable, but I later on had an umay feeling with it, probably because the teriyaki sauce was too sweet for my liking. 128546 For my drink, I chose the Hot Nai Cha. I LOOOVED THEIR NAI CHA! I appreciate how they make it with a greater percentage of tea than milk, so it had that subtle bitterness of the tea at first sip, but will eventually be cut through with the creaminess and sweetness of the milk. A must-try when in Tuan Tuan! 128525

✔ FOR JOSH: CREATE YOUR OWN NOODLES - MALAY LAKSA (Php 398) - 1108811088110881108811088
Josh initially wanted the Szechuan soup base, but it was unavailable. Since he wanted something spicy, this was his next best bet. I told him this is one of their bestselling noodle soup broths, so he agreed to get this. It was only later on that I found out he was not a big fan of Laksa... Or at least, not until today. He took one sip of the soup, and his face lit up! I was so relieved that he loved it. 128076 He told me that the richness of the broth, coupled with its creaminess, spiciness, and sourness, packed a real punch and made him fall head over heels for this spicy coconut curry soup. 128513 He was also glad that he got the thick rice noodles (hofun), because the soup coated each noodle strand and made each slurp even more enjoyable. Please note though that it will be better if you get the seafoods for your toppings, as he did not enjoy having the Char Siu topping in his Laksa broth... He felt that it was out of place. 128517 You may choose your beverage inclusion as well for just + Php 20! Josh got the Cold Nai Cha.

As I've mentioned, ambiance was really nice. It's perfect for both dates or intimate gatherings, as well as family eat outs. It is generally well lit, clean, and the decorations were not too overwhelming. They have this wall with frames hung up which is really instagrammable (I failed to take a close up photo though, as there were people seated beside it during our visit). 128584

The service in this restaurant was just okay. There were around 5-6 servers at the time, but servers seem rattled even if therr weren't that many customers during our visit. The reception area wasn't constantly manned, too. I hope they can assign a receptionist that will be stationary in that area, so incoming guests wouldn't have to find their own seats. After all, this isn't a budget fastfood place. 9786

After the meal, I realized that what we ordered weren't really much of a fusion of East and West. I'm willing to come back to try their other food items, though. Probably I'll get to try something that will represent both countries in one dish. 128521

Love the interior of this restaurant. Looked fancy and the price is fancy too. Haven't had a chance to check this out when I was in HK.

My boyfriend wanted dim sum but apparently they don't have those which is weird for a Chinese resto. These are the dishes we ordered:
Deep fried baby squid (Php288) not too oily which was a plus. Right amount of seasoning.
Honey garlic spareribs (Php328) the dish was difficult to eat because it was too sticky. I wanted to brush my teeth after. Plus the serving size was small for the price.

Food is good but service is terrible. Don't ever try to order crispy duck buns. It's always 45 minutes to make them. But even the crispy pork buns take 25 minutes to make!!! Caramba!! And these are their signature dishes!!! Too bad. As I said, good food, terrible service!!!

The interiors are of French design and the place gives a fine dining feel. They have good lighting which is a plus factor for me. We were lucky that we dined here on a weekday because Tuan Tuan is usually full whenever I would pass by this restaurant on weekends.

For a place that looks very classy, I'm surprised that their menu is not as expensive as I have expected. I still find it fair and justifiable for the price.

Here are the things that we had:

Crispy Barbecued Pork Snow Buns with complimentary Hong Kong Style Coffee. I'm a fan of pork buns and I've tried ones from other chinese restaurants (aside from their main competitor) but I've been curious about it since people have been comparing the two of them and the favors are different. I would say that their buns are also good, I love that it's soft in the right amount, as well as the filling which tastes good. As for comparing it with its number one competitor, I find this more delicate and sweet in the right amount because the other one's buns are much sweeter. Thus, I prefer Tuan Tuan's.

The complimentary Hong Kong style coffee that is served with the snow buns are refillable. The strength of the coffee is just right, though the added sweetener and milk was a bit too much that it felt concentrated.

Pork and Century Egg Congee. Served with fried crullers. The amount of serving for this one can be for sharing. Tastes just right, not salty nor bland, not too creamy as well. Though, it was a bit surprising because a congee is basically a rice porridge. This one was more of a chinese cream soup with chicken eggs. I opted to order this one because I simply love century eggs; hope that they would serve more of that in the ingredients. The pork is of the right tenderness. The crullers were oily; I think that a random soft bread would actually be a better complement to the congee.

Pork Meatball and Liver Congee. Served with fried crullers. Same as the other congee that we ordered, just had pork meatball and liver this time.

Warm Banana Bread Pudding with Kahlua Creme Anglaise. The banana bread pudding was baked well and the creme complements it well. The creme was addicting for me. As for the banana bread pudding, my sister loves it very much.

This radish cake dish is yummy! 128523128077🏻 Tuan Tuan is a bit pricy with few items on the menu but food here has been consistently good. The interiors though are a bit too shiny for my liking.

Get the Laksa set. 128077🏼

My work friends have been raving about the laksa from Tuantuan so I've been meaning to give it a shot and it did not disappoint! 128513 I enjoyed the noodles, the soup and also the toppings! It had some tofu skin which I really love! 10084

Their Laksa set comes with a side of fried fish fillet and a drink. Get the iced milk tea! It's the closest thing you can get to an authentic Hong Kong style milk tea! The flavor from the tea is pretty strong and distinct and it's not too sweet. We couldn't get enough of it!!

We decided to order some of their buns - pork and duck. The buns are pretty much like THW's pork buns too, but I didn't quite like that it wasn't very crisp. Their duck buns tasted way better than their pork buns too.

We also had their honey spareribs... But it disappointed me a lot because it was waaaaaay too sweet!!! 128534

Dined here for the first time. Since I was early I got to enjoy the nice ambience of the place. Just felt a bit weird for a resto that serves Chinese food to be playing French music in the background. It must be the brasserie thing.

I liked the food. I paricularly enjoyed the hearty taste of the halibut soup which came with pork balls and shimeji mushrooms. A little soy sauce and chili sauce made it taste better. The fish fillet was quite ordinary though. Tastes like any other.

I finished my meal with a cup of HK coffee. It had a nice caffeine kick that would last me for the rest of the day.

Pork buns were definitely a winner! Duck version was also tasty. U.S. Angus curry is also pretty good but must be paired with rice. Honey garlic spareribs was ordinary though...hubby still prefers the steamed version from Le Ching.

People who loves to eat are always the best people - Julia Child127860

Fri-Yay lunch date with hubby yesterday at SM Megamall and we end up at Tuan Tuan Chinese Brasserie. I've been really wanting to try this before and finally it happened yesterday. The place looks fancy and fabulous! They really have great interiors, from their doors, to menu book, to wall decors , restroom was so nice too.

Tuan Tuan Chinese Brasserie is serves Hongkong comfort food. They offered hear laksa noodle soup but u regret that we wasn't able to order it. Here are the food that we ordered.

🔸Snow Pork Buns - (3pcs) if you loved pork buns you'll love it here too, soft and the filling was flavorful up to the last bite.

🔸Nai Cha (hot) - Friday afternoon delight is a cup of this hot, rich and creamy Horlicks. Perfect way to end this work week and to welcome in the weekend! This preferred evaporated full cream milk used by the BEST Hongkong tea masters is right here in Tuantuan! Perfect cup to end my week , so creamy and delicious1280779749️ For only 90 pesos

🔸Angus steak black pepper sauce and mushroom on rice - ( 388 pesos) one of chefs recommendation. The steak is tender and it has corn as side dish

🔸 Fish fillet with pumpkin and crabstick in creamy sauce on rice . (288 pesos) This was hubby's dish and it's extraordinary, haven't seen anyone and tasted like this, so good128076 you must try this one.

🔸Thai milktea

Verdict: the place was lovely , the food was extra ordinary and service was good , nice place for a date just like ours10084127860

This is the 3rd day in a row I'm eating at a chinese restaurant 128514 The Crispy BBQ Pork Snow Buns is always the saving grace whenever I dine at Tuan Tuan. The Honey Garlic Wings and Cantonese Seafood Pan Fried Noodles we had were meh. Wish I just ordered our usuals - prawn curry, laksa noodle soup and deep fried baby squid with aioli sauce. Oh well at least I know what not to order the next time I'm here. Still the best pork snow buns for me! 128076🏼128076🏼128076🏼

Enjoyed their crispy molten custard snow buns, a change from the usual bbq pork filling. The pan fried white turnip cake ( raddish cake) in XO sauce, unlike the other fried raddish cake, this one melts in your mouth, with just the right saltiness, each piece is packed with flavor, add the XO sauce, which is dried shredded scallops, sauteed in oil and some chili. Wash these down with the authentic NAI CHA, a cantonese milk tea, a cold drink made up with tea and Dutch produced BLACK & WHITE evaporated full cream milk, similar to the way they do it in Hong Kong. At the same time enjoy the French ambiance of the resto. Indeed this is also known as CHINESE BRASSERIE.
