My favorite bar. They're one of the few bars that have Frangelico. Haha!

Food is awesome here too.

I don’t know if it’s just me and my lola vibes, but night outs are so tiring to go to. I have like zero motivation to head out, except for when it’s someone’s birthday. 128117

I mean I would rather spend my money elsewhere, although I like getting dressed. Hehe 128120

It doesn’t really help when it’s hot in the club or bar, like in TUNNL. Their aircon was busted, I think. And even if I was already in sleeveless, I was still sweating. Huhu it’s not fun. Also, the bar was undermanned. There were only around 3 people at the most to serve all the people in the place, and they were so not efficient. I waited for almost 20 minutes for my change. 128553 I wanted to go back to my group already, but I had to wait. I was halfway down with my drink, when it finally came, and my boyfriend had to help me out to follow it up a second time.

My drink, Amaretto Sour, was good naman. It tasted like juice and the alcohol was just at a moderate level. The drink was pre-mixed though, I just saw the bartender pour it out of a juice bottle. Dazz it. 128581 I’m not sure if that’s a good thing, but it removes the whole expression of art that comes in bartending. Huhu no show.

The music was good. It was mostly late 90s-early 00s hip-hop and R&B, when we were still there. We left really “early”, at 12:30ish, and my friends said the music got even better after.

I think the vibe of the place is nice, but I just couldn’t feel it. Maybe if it was less crowded. Parking is also limited. We ended up parking in the street across the building and it was a no parking zone.

I don’t know if I want to be back soon, but hopefully when that happens they have better air-conditioning. Zzzz

Tunnl is presently gaining popularity among friends as the new hip bar in the block, with good drinks and good music. However, you MUST TRY THE FOOD! The menu is short but everything Ive tasted so far Ive loved! I personally recommend the following:

For your main: Have their Steak (their Angus Ribeye is cooked to perfection and there are a variety of rubs for their steaks that you can choose from. I like the Brazilian and the Columbian rubs). Must try also are their Soft Tacos (the Steak tacos are the best). You can also order their Sausage Platter (3 types of sausages, comes with a bed of creamy mashed potato and caramelized onions. Good for sharing!) or order a bowl of their Chili (Tunnl is now home to my favorite Chili).

For bar chow (aka pulutan): Try their Nachos or the Cheesy jalapeno croquettes.

YUM! Will definitely be back for the food, for the drinks, and for the music! 128077128077128077

A friend of mine has been talking about how much she loves TUNNL for a while. I don't know why, but I assumed it was like any other bar off the blue line and didn't give it much thought. The other night we were having a house party and she suggested we go and I just went along with it.

When you walk in, you're shrouded in smoke and mystique. When you scan the bar, you see another era. It really felt like a 90s speakeasy and not in a cheap touristy way. My only gripe was the poor air-conditioning! Not sure if their air-conditioning units were faulty but it was really hot and stuffy inside the whole night.

My friend and I tried a couple cocktails. I honestly can't remember their names but mine was JD Coke and Jim Beam Honey with Sprite. They weren't overdone monstrosities masquerading as vintage drinks. They really looked simple and classic. Just the cocktails in the glasses.

What made me love this place was the fact that I expected a certain vibe and they gave me true speakeasy feel. Plus, they were playing old 90s and some electronic music for the duration of our stay. Kinda cool, I must say. The service was impeccable. The drinks were phenomenal and affordable. Will I be back? Hell yeah!
