UCC Clockwork is the third wave deal of UCC here in Manila. So they have a small store in Estancia and during the holidays, they were of course, packed. However, the staff was able to accommodate us outside because I know my friends and I all love to talk and laugh. They have a small function room which you can rent for like 2 hours minimum Php 2k expense. It might be a little difficult to get their attention if you're seated outside but it's okay if you have good company. You'll never be in a bad mood. Haha.

We ordered almost one of each kind from their menu and they also have cakes because after-meal go to places should have coffee and dessert all the time. 128524

When I walked inside, I saw that UCC also offers nitro coffee! It's "coffee served on tap" as they say. The foam is there to make your black coffee velvety and sweeter. They serve it in a wine glass and give out syrup on the side when you just can't take coffee as it is. The drink is not on the menu so you better walk in and check it out yourself.

They have a variety of good sandwiches (kind of pricey but it's really good) and they also have their wall of coffee accessories. The coffee bean selection is showcased and you can pick your beans as you want them. They have pre-packed beans as low as Php200 (UCC Special Blend) which is great to giveaway for your titos and titas. And as suggested, please grind your coffee beans for certified freshness.

PS - they also have sockets so you can charge your gadgets. 128513

We all wanted coffee after our lunch so we headed to UCC Clockwork. Nice industial interiors and cozier feels when you get inside.

I had Sea Salt Caramel Machiato (P170), standard size. Love the Christmas art on its foam. Not that sweet, just a hint of caramel and stronger coffee taste.

For dessert, I share the Green Tea Mousse Cheesecake (P245). I thought its pricey, but this one has the legit matcha taste and cheesecake beneath is surprisingly good.

Would definitely bw back here, to try their dishes🍽

It's my second time here this month and I finally tried the Irish coffee. Last time it wasn't available kasi. The coffee was served in a glass with the syrup on the side. With muscovado sugar (or some kind of brown sugar) on the rim, topped with whipped cream and mint leaves. The coffee was warm and the whiskey was really strong that it added to the bitterness of the coffee so putting the syrup was necessary for me. I realized that taking small sips tastes better since the flavor is too strong when taken in gulps. My friend and I split the mango crepe samurai but I could've easily finished it myself, because mango. The cream was too sweet for me. But since my coffee is bitter, it somehow neutralized the sweetness.

I would love to try other flavors of coffee coz they really have a lot. This place is definitely for coffee lovers.

We only had coffee and dessert here on a Sunday afternoon. Not a lot of people at the time so we got the best table, the only one with the couch. I ordered the Irish coffee coz I was intrigued and wanted to know how a coffee with whiskey tastes like. A few minutes after we ordered, the server came back and told me the Irish coffee was not available. I was so disappointed. Hence, the 3 stars only. He then suggested the Salted Caramel Macchiato (P120). They really have a lot of coffee in their menu I had a hard time choosing something I've never had before so agreed on the macchiato. I also ordered Smores cake (P250).

The coffee has that subtle salty sweet flavor. Both the caramel and salt were not too overpowering so I liked it. The smores cake was not as spectacular as it looks. I liked the marshmallow part but the chocolate cake inside is just ordinary. It would have been better if there was ganache or caramel filling or something. It was a big serving so I split it with my friend.

Their cakes and coffee were generally good but quite pricey. Their coffee was too strong for my liking but it wasn't so bad. If you are tired of staples like SB and CBTL you might want to try this place.

I was honestly drawn in, upon seeing their menu. They did have a lot of varieties and interesting stuff up their menu!

I am a die hard pasta lover so I went straight to this section! I didn't think twice-- I immediately wanted their Tomato Beef Lasagna! I also liked how the menu had so much pictures. Nearly everything looked delectible.

The server was pretty nice. She handed us the menus and temporarily sat us at the bar area. The table was not yet ready that was why she did that. Nice gesture though and we didn't have to wait long as well.

Aside from getting the lasagna. My friend also chose the coffee rubbed ribs and for dessert we had their crepe samurai.

I absolutely love their lasagna! I mean really it was one of the best I have ever had. I liked the spices that were used in this dish ! I love how generous the cream and cheese was in this dish! Only downside was the serving! It was sadly only good for one!

The ribs on the other hand was really huge. Woah! Probably for 4 people!?!? It came with a side of salad and fries. The flavors were honestly bold and really out there. Very smokey and flavorful. Perfect to pair with rice! I heard that this was relatively new to the menu as well. It was pretty pricey for 1200 pesos but ...definitely a winner.

Lastly, the crepe samurai. For me, this was nothing really special. The mangoes were not even sweet to begin with. It was just your regular mango crepe with cream on top. It also took long before it was served.

The wifi here wasn't that good I mean I didn't get why apps like safari or snapchat wouldn't work with it. Only FB and Instagram worked and why do we even have to log in with our social media accounts to use the wifi. I am not a big fan of those really... What if people don't want to share their private info?!

Nevertheless, I do see myself coming back for more of their food and also probably also try their drinks as well.

After attending a friend’s birthday event we felt that a much needed catch up thing is needed so we decided to go to UCC Clockwork in Capitol Commons.

UCC Clockwork gets playful with coffee with their Caffeine + Concoctions line. I tried Judy on The Rocks' (P150 hot, P170 iced), the best seller charcoal roasted coffee with “on the rock’s cream (similar to that of milk tea’s cream) with salted honey on the rim. 128536128077 This place aims to promote the highest form of culinary appreciation for coffee just like wine, tea and chocolate.

UCC Clockwork is more than just a third wave coffee shop. Coffee choices are broad in whatever preparation you desire (yes, they have different methods of preparing coffee: Pour Over, Cold Brew or Espresso beans locked in Nitrogen filled containers to prolong the freshness). Plus they also have flavored beers and cocktails and they have a great selection of food that suits solo and group diners. Plus the homey ambiance of the place gives a relaxing feel that is perfect for catching up with friends, for studying or for a much needed alone time.

I had lunch with my boss and a friend today. We ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. I really liked the food. The grilled cheese was great and I loved the tomato soup.

The only thing that I really didn't like was the service. The servers were clumped together in one area and weren't really attentive to the customers. It took quite a while to get their attention. I also ordered an iced tea which they forgot. We decided to order dessert and waited another 20 minutes.

I'm really hoping that the staff can just put a little extra effort with the customers. I enjoyed the food and will likely be back.

Tried their Japanese Butter Maple Pancake (Php 190) and it was VERY buttery! They serve it to you in a skillet with a slice of butter underneath the pancake.

If you compare this one to a regular pancake, this one's lighter and fluffier and of course, a lot more buttery. Don't think this one's small - it can quickly fill you up!

This is a good branch if you just want to hang out and chitchat. Em D and I turned this place into our mini board game cafe haha.

Also tried their Kori Kohi. It may taste strong and a little bitter but just add more milk to balance it out. It wasn't all that strong though since I didn't find myself wide awake until 5 in the morning.

Innovation is one way to describe UCC's bold move to enter into the "craft coffee" scenery. More than just the Blue Mountain they are famous for, this coffee shop offers a kaleidoscope of unique blends of coffee, with special reference to their Bulletproof Blend, which is surprisingly good (despite the odd mixture of butter in it). Want happy hour? This place also has it.

On those days when traffic is just so bad - we spend the time in the car deciding where to have dinner since we can't cook anymore. (H-angry so if we still cook at home there will be war and if we cook it will be really late into the night already.)

Estancia ends up a common area of choice, (along with any of the Kapitolyo restaurants) and for tonight we decided on going to UCC Clockwork. It's the new UCC restaurant after the usual Japanese dining theme. UCC coffee is still available of course but the entire menu has been re-imagined, or in my opinion, they decided to put the dishes here that they removed before from the original UCC japanese themed restaurant.

One of which is my favorite "Fisherman's Fried Rice" as UCC calls it but it's simply Anchovy Fried Rice. (Sounds more fancy than Tuyo sa Sinangag) so it comes with cherry tomatoes, your choice of egg and leaves of lettuce together with a generous serving of rice with the anchovies in between.

Anchovies have been a favorite of mine since it always reminds me of Sunday breakfast meals at home with family growing up. It's so hard for me to score anchovies now since you can't really cook them in your condo and buying the bottled versions in supermarkets is oftentimes too much for your own good, they end up spoiled after staying in the ref for too long.

The fried rice doesn't end up salty, the cherry tomatoes served are in ample supply and the veggies give it a semblance of a healthy dish. So good for me that you really end up finishing the entire serving of rice despite it being night time and you aren't supposed to eat so much carbs anymore.

Hits home every time! Stars for the taste, the preparation and the food quality.

Was unable to take photos due to a certain drained battery 128531 Lol

Bulletproof coffee = 8/10
This nifty find was pretty stellar. Bulletproof coffee seldom appears on menus anywhere in this country (its ingredients are particularly difficult to secure), so finding it here was a pleasant surprise. The taste of coffee wasn't as strong as I had wished though.

Sangria = 7
A little too watery for my liking. I prefer my sangria with potent alcohol levels, the pungent taste of strong, robust wine, and fruity undertones. UCC's version seemed to consist of 50% wine, 50% (diluted) fruit juice. However the blend of flavors were on point, so I'll give it an 7. Just maybe don't skimp next time.
**BONUS: Unlimited sangrias go for only P350

Liqueur selection = 9
They served both Disaronno AND Malibu—my two absolute favorite liqueurs! I suppose the charm of this place is its hipster appeal unveiled by its penchant for extremely obscure menu items. Anyhow, had a glass of each (on the rocks, please), and highly recommend you do the same at least once in your life.

Matcha mousse & cheesecake = 4
I mean I get that matcha was fashioned for those with palates that gravitate toward bitter food, but this was just ridiculously bitter, to the point of inedibility. And nearly nothing is inedible to me. Even the cheesecake on the bottom couldn't offer any sweetness to balance out the matcha mousse. Gracious, even the chocolate truffle garnish was bitter.

Old-fashioned chocolate cake = 6
The servers were at fault for failing to heat the cake to room temperature. Nevertheless, if one goes down, the entire team goes down with them. And what's disappointing is that this cake had potential. They managed to get the taste right on it—bittersweet chocolate ganache on the outside, a sweet, creamy filling in between, and (wait, what?) tough what-should-be-sponge cake holding everything together. Sayang. Half of the problem could have been avoided had they heated the cake, had it been easy to slice instead of rock hard, had the elements of the cake melted into each other to produce a warm, chocolatey medley, subsequently causing me to forget about the actual cake's mediocrity...
Lesson: Waiters, heat the damn chocolate cake. Make me blind to the pastry chef's downfalls.

All-over experience was okay. The ambience and interiors were both perfect, and they played old-school R&B the whole night. However items were slightly overpriced for a coffee shop. I paid P1,500 for 6 small orders. I'll give it a 6/10.
