I remembered coming here for a special project back in my college days. The historical building across the gated the compound was a sight to see. A thousand imaginations brought to my mind that time, as I saw how the place withstood the Philippine wars during the Spanish Era.

What's even more fascinating was the intrinsic design of the other historical buildings inside the university compound. 9786128249

Going around the small portion of the campus and getting to film it for my project was a taste of adventure in a modern era while retracing a piece of history. 128077🏻128077🏻

If there's one thing I live about my school, it's that they know how to welcome and send off their students. Particularly, the sending-off part.

One of my best memories in college was the Baccalaureate Mass; the writing on each other's uniforms with colored markers, the fireworks, the free treats, the batch music video--everything! It was a great way to close that chapter in our lives.

It wasn't all happy times, but hey, that's what college is about. Learning about yourself and how to cope with the mishaps of life.

Even for my fourth time visiting here I could say is, it's like in paradise studying if you're a student in this very prestigious school..ano pang hahanapin mo, everything is almost here, san ka makakitang school na halos kumpleto na ang establishment kulang nlng yta magtayo ng SM dito eh, actually posible nga sa lawak nito, yung paghahanap ko nga lang ng souvenir shop sa iilang building na nadahanan ko napagod ako ng husto.. khit yung simbahan nila bongga, tas may sarili pa silang museum ( I feel really bad kanina at di ako pinapasok .,kasi di ako estudyante) ... can anyone help me to get a pass inside the museum,.please... kaya hanggang labas lang ako.. isa pang masasabi ko ay, sobrang yaman ng UST, on my way sa entrance kung saan din ako dati dumadahan papasok laging may ginagawa even nung estudyante pa ko , hanggang ngayon di natatapos,.almost 5 years na rin yun hay.. hayyy USTe, ikaw na!!! if i will have a privelege to study here,.aba ako na ang pinaka masuwerteng tao sa mundo, yung taga ibang bansa nga na mayayaman dumadayo ng pilipinas para makapag aral dito...

PS: First time kong mainterview ng guard kanina at hingan ng I.D bago makapasok 128513128513128517., dati nakakapasok ako without that.. so ayan may record nko sa UST haha...

Arch of the Centuries, at the only Royal and Pontifical University in the Philippines, UST (my alma mater, proud Tomasino). Declared as a National Treasure by the National Museum in 2011.
The Arch contains Doric columns, but is Baroque in its details. The inscription on the arch says "Gateway to the history of the finest breed of Filipinos," a reference to the numerous alumni who have made an impact in Philippine history.
On the left pillar of the facade facing España Boulevard is commemorative plaque honoring national hero José Rizal, and on the right pillar is another plaque honoring President Manuel L. Quezon; both being UST alumni.
On the sides at the top of the Arch are panels depicting the life of Saint Thomas Aquinas, the patron saint of the university and of all Catholic educational institutions.

The Pope Jeep is on display at the Archi Buildiing until today. UST was one of the sites that Pope Francis visited.

I'm so happy I signed up to be a volunteer for the Pope's youth encounter in my university. We had a dry run 6:30 in the morning 2 days before, had to attend orientations and we had to follow certain guidelines that made some of us say "ano ba tong pinasok ko". Well for me it was all worth it.

We were told we (the UST volunteers) could only enter UST between 2-3 AM of Sunday and so by 1:30 AM, we were already walking the car-free streets of España. We ended up falling in line anyway for 3 more hours along Lacson so we finally got inside UST 5 AM. The lines and the gate area was B-A-N-A-N-A-S. There were volunteers protecting the opened part of the gate with their arms all intertwined while trying to push the general public crowd away from the gate.

I didn't know what was happening at the gates in España and Dapitan but I heard people (mostly the non-UST people) really didn't know that there were designated gates for the Thomasian community, UST alumni, youth delegates/participants and the general public so people would literally just stand at the end of any line they see. I couldn't blame them I mean I know not everyone has access to the Internet to see the guidelines posted there. The whole lining up process would've been WAY better and organized if UST put up signs in front of the gates.

We were assigned to be the human barricade at the back of the Main Building across the general public crowd where the Pope would pass in his Pope mobile. Luckily, we didn't have to do much "barricade-ing" 'cause our area was for the UST alumni if I'm not mistaken and there were only 2-3 rows of people behind our back and the row of PNP officers. We talked to some of them and they say that there were 1,500 officers in the UST area alone.

At around 9 AM we heard the crowd go wild and thought it was too early for it to be Pope Francis cause we were expecting him to be in UST at 9:45 - 10 AM. It was just his guards inspecting the route to be taken by the Pope mobile but of course that made the crowd excited na rin hehe. But a few minutes later, we saw the Pope enter the Arch of the Centuries in UST on the screen. I couldn't believe my eyes. And wow I guess Argentinian time is way better than Filipino time LOL. I don't know why I kept waving at him even though he was facing the opposite side when he passed by LOL! I guess seeing him in the flesh (and smiling) was already enough.

Unfortunately, it started raining and the sound system was blah in our area so we couldn't hear what was happening at the grandstand where the main event was being held. I ended up just reading the whole transcript of his impromptu speech and watched the videos online... Still cried like a baby. 128546

I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to see him. I'm not a very religious person but you don't even have to be one to realize how inspiring and beautiful his words and actions are. I love you, Pope Francis!

My bf and I went back to UST last night, for the first time together actually... It's our alma matter at different points in our life-- bf during college, mine during med school... It has changed so much since we were last in the campus grounds! We were reminiscing about our time here as we walked around...

It's a lovely place for photo ops, especially under the arch in front... Iconic and historical... Drop by to appreciate the oldest university in the country!128522

Finally I had the chance to visit my alma mater and to do what I normally do when I was still in college(eating128069).

I ate Cantonese Fried Sharks Fin with Mixed Sauce and Chili Sauce paired with Big Martha's Sun Tea 128525128557128523 - with a very beautiful preserved view 128149

I want to extend my stay more but I need to go to work(syempre, I bought Ilar's Mixilog to office)

Will definitely come back(the soonest) to reminisce all the College Foodtrip we did. And you should def come, too!!! 128513128077
