This was the 3rd time on this restaurant. First 2 times were excellent!

This time, group of 3 ordered beet root salad, uninspiring, chicken wings too sweet.

Halibut was deeply fried. Why woukd someone deep fry an expensive fish unless their hiding its freshness. And so was the salmon, it was obviously been in the freezer longer than its lifetime...

Sadly the chef must've moved on.

Picture this: A quiet, small, but spacious, country-esque eatery, with dark, heavy wood furnishings where tables were covered in white cloth, very well-lit during the day to compliment it's contrast. Appropriate, but faint music plays in the background while enjoying your afternoon with loved ones. This is what Uno Restaurant offers.

This was almost a perfect place until food and drinks were served. I had ordered their Lamb "Bucco", with Miso Mint Chimichurri (₱680), with a glass of their house red wine. This dish, too came with a side of roasted potatoes.

Before the main course was served, I was given a basket of hot artisan bread with butter. As soon as I took a bite into it, immediately I was enamored. It had a crispy outer crust, with a very soft, and flavorful inside. Having this delicious bread, I had a feeling that my dish that I had ordered was going to be delectable.

Shortly after finishing the bread, I was served with their house red wine...in a glass. It was odd that the wine was served in something one would drink water from. I asked the server if they would be so kind enough to transfer it to an appropriate glass, but unfortunately was told that they don't have wine glasses. I know this was a trivial request, but from my description of this particular venue, I was hoping the glassware paired with the atmosphere. I got over it quickly. 128522

Then my main dish arrived. I was very excited. I can hear the sizzling plate approaching me, and also smell the goodness of the lamb. Once placed in front of me, that's when I started to become disappointed. What I was expecting was a lamb shank cut that was taken from the upper thigh of the animal. As shown on the photo above, it seemed as if I were given kaldereta cuts; it was all downhill thence forth.

As soon as my knife was about to cut through the scarce meat it had, off-the-bat I was able to tell that the meat was going to be dry. I was right. Since I had already touched the food, I proceeded to eat. It was unfortunate I didn't enjoy this dish. In [my] opinion, it was very salty. There was salinity from the lamb, the red wine sauce, [and] the chimichurri. It was a little to much for me to take in. But as not to be rude, also, since there was not much meat, I finished what I had ordered.

Altogether, I wasn't happy. Though my experience from this dish wasn't as expected, I will still come again for another go-at-it. I'm very sure there are other dishes in their menu that will make me a believer of this place.

Happy Eating!!!

This is my aunt's favorite place to eat because she loves trying something new and everyday, they have a special chef's menu. but on days you can't choose from the menu of the day, they still have their regular menu.

Today, one of the specials is sold out and the other meals have seafood in it, so I decided to order from their regular menu. I loved their spearibs! Its super good to know that I liked something from their regular so when I'm not in the mood to try something new or i can't eat their specials because pf allergy probs, I know what to order!128077

I've never heard of this place until I read about it in an article the other day...One of the "hidden" gems in Morato area. Always on the lookout for some place new to explore, we gave it a try yesterday.

The place is simple, quiet, no frills...servers were quite friendly and helpful. When I asked them for the house specials, they said they had none in particular since they change their menu every three to four months. Not a bad idea 128161 Anyways, here's what we ordered:

- Complimentary fresh baked bread with butter 128076🏼

- Tofu, Bean thread, and celery leaf salad with Siracha Seasane Dressing @280 - it's something different and healthy, I liked the tasty dressing 128522 4/5

- Pork Pinchitos (BBQ Skewers) @230 - 7 small sticks, pretty tasty and tender but steep IMO 3/5

- Clams & Chorizo Cream Spaghetti @330 - loved the sauce, it was creamy and tasty w/o the Umay factor plus they were generous with the clams and chorizo 128076🏼 5/5

- Confit Pork Hocks w/ potatoes @390 - this one was just ok, nothing special, meat was a bit dry for my taste. 3/5

- Hainan Chicken Risotto @350 - not such a fan, kinda bland so the sauce was a lifesaver 128514 3/5

- Cheesecake & Creme Brûlée - 3/5

Pretty Slow service though considering we were the only diners there 128514

Thanks to LooLoo we were able to locate an open restaurant to have a late dinner. Got the Bacalao (P490), Duck Confit (P450), Chicken Wings (P270), Cheesecake (P70.00), iced tea (P65.00) and calamansi juice (P60.00). The complimentary bread and butter was definitely a nice touch for hungry eaters. Had to follow-up refills for water though.

Prices for the main course was a but exorbitant. No music can be heard and service was not that impressive. One had to ask if the iced tea was refillable and the drinks were served for quite some time. Duck tasted average and wings still a but spicy (despite our request that its for our 3year old). The little one had difficulty adjusting to its spiciness. The picture may not look appetizing but it was the best order we had. Cheesecake didn't have the usual aftertaste and was really delightful. Will definitely comeback to try the other dishes.

Can't believe I'm only trying this place out now! With their super yummy homemade & complimentary breads, Uno is already a winner in my books! I normally don't order pork chops in restaurants for the fear it might be too tough but Uno's Grilled Pork Chop Rib hits the spot! Very tender and tasty.

They serve FREE rice. Winner for rice-lovers!! (Unfortunately not me!) Not an iced tea lover but their iced tea is really good because it's brewed and not too sweet. Definitely going back to try their other dishes and desserts (which are pretty cheap!).

**Oh and celebrity sighting: saw KC Concepcion!!

This place has been around for so long now, but I was only able to visit recently. My favorite thing about Uno would be their ambience. It's quiet and perfect for dates. They have a short menu, but food is good and not too highly priced. I just had a slice of carrot cake and I enjoyed it a lot. Also loved the complimentary bread they served. I wasn't able to try what my family ordered but I'll definitely be back next time 128522

Went to this restaurant for my parents' anniversary and I was sooo disappointed..

First of all, it took them a long time to cook our orders. Second, food wasn't great! And to think that they did not have much choices.

The only thing that redeemed this restaurant that night was their dessert. We got their Fallen Chocolate Cake and it was quite good. Nothing unique but still good.

Admittedly not a good photo but a really good piece of meat. The special of the day was Tanigue with Lemongrass and Hungarian Pork Rib Stew. I obviously had the pork. It was tender and juicy. Taste-wise, it's ok. It's not the best I had from Uno but still pretty good.

I had the chance to taste the Tanigue and it was better than what I ordered. It was not nakakakumay and the meat was just right, not hard nor undercooked.

Our meal came with chicken curry soup. It was good, it had a hint of curry and it was creamy, perfect to feed my daughter.

Uno definitely has one of the best cheesecakes I've ever tasted.128588
It may look dry and some crumbs even fall off when you slice it. But it was moist on the inside. Thinking about it, it's somehow similar to japanese cheesecakes. It was light, and creamy.
The fallen chocolate cake was good but nothing special.
I liked the coconut cream pie better. It had just the right amount of sweetness that's not "nakaka-umay" 128077

Food:
1. Shrimp Parmesan Spaghetti: It was good but I think I'd love it if they used fettucini or linguine instead of spaghetti.
2. Fallen Chocolate Cake: This one's popular so I tried it since I already tasted their cheesecake. It was good. Brownie like feeling. Plus points since it's flourless. Simple but yummy. 128522
3. Chicken Wings: Nothing special. Plus it was undercooked so no need to elaborate. Haha!

Place:
Peaceful and simple. It's an old place already but not that obvious. Haha!

Service:
Friendly and accommodating. They excluded the chicken wings in our bill since they saw it was really undercooked that's why I'm still giving them 4 stars. 128077

I have an entry for this restaurant every month! Hehe. Yesterday's special was this pork chop steak cooked in worcestershire sauce and something else. I had a salad with it and it costs only P380. Not bad, not bad at all.

Today I had the wrasse fillet and guacamole salad. It was good but the broiled beef menu of the day, which was what my parents had was better.
I took a photo of my wrasse fillet but the flourless chocolate cake that I had looks more photogenic so that's the photo I added. 128521

My family and I super love this restaurant. They have 2 menu of the day and you get to pick your choice of salad or soup. But you could always request for a combo of their two specials of the day. And you could ask for half portions of their salads or soup so you could try everything.

It's better to come here during lunch hours when they still have all the items on their specials. I tried dining here one time during dinner and they ran out of the other special.

I can't reccommend a particular entree because it's different everyday. But what's consistent are their rolls, which is given for free and you could request for more if you want more. They bake their rolls fresh and they serve it hot. Straight from the pugon. Other well-known restos in the area order their rolls from uno.

I also like their iced tea, it's brewed and not the commercial kind. Their pastries are good too. I love the fallen--the flourless chocolate cake.

They are closed every Sunday. Boo128557 and they only accept cash payments. But no worries, it's not expensive here. Around P500 per head. Very sulit for the quality of food they serve here.

If I were to stick to one mantra as a foodie, it is "There's always room for dessert." And my stomach shouts PLENTY OF ROOM!

So, along with my fiancé, whom I successfully converted to a dessert lover, I headed to Uno tonight.

FOOD (Dessert):
We intentionally visited Uno for these. We got:
1. Cheesecake
2. Fallen Chocolate Cake
3. Creme Brulee
4. Coconut Cream Pie

Cheesecake
It's true how others who wrote a review said that it's fluffy with the right amount of cream and sweetness. I'm not really a fan of "fluffy" desserts but thank God for Uno which has succesfully made me one! I definitely wanted to order another slice; that's how good it is: it leaves you CRAVING FOR MORE!

Fallen Chocolate Cake
I love their fallen chocolate cake. Bitter sweet, a little chewy, addicting. Enough said. If there is something you should not miss, it's this one.

Creme Brulee
Because I went totally excited after the first two desserts (thanks to the significant amount of sugar in them haha!), I expected a lot from this one. It's not bad, don't get me wrong. Its shell was crisp and I like that. I just think it tasted too "eggy." Nonetheless, I worry not because knowing Uno, they will improve this one.

Coconut Cream Pie
Baked well. The crust was not too "overpowering" in texture. It held the filling very well and it made a perfect balance on the sweetness.

After four desserts, we got our bill of P231! Wow! That was a steal! 1280779786️ I can say that the dessert here is worth every penny (or even more). Additionally, it's free of service charge! How about that. 128521

I have yet to try their main dishes. Over all, the food experience is a TOTAL DELIGHT. 128079

SERVICE:
Hands down. The server was very sensitive of our need to have our glasses refilled as soon as we've emptied them - something I really really look for. 128077

AMBIENCE:
It was very quiet, intimate, and relaxing. This is a place where people don't pretend.

This isn't a good photo, but I swear, Uno's Fallen Chocolate Cake was absolutely divine 128525 It wasn't too sweet, which I loved. And it was fluffy and crunchy all at the same time. Their cheesecake was really good too!

If their desserts taste this good, I have a feeling their mains will too! *fingers crossed* Something to look forward to next time!

Why not 5 stars? Because they don't accept credit cards.

Good move for the owner. It means they only cater to people who really brings enough moolah to pay for their food. Targeted. And Im not one of them, unless I came prepared. Haha!

But anyway, their food is good naman and during my visit I ordered one of the specials for the day. Its steamed wrasse with marinara sauce. What a catch. Its really good, tastes almost like a cream dory. Its served with chicken macaroni soup (sopas in short) for 420pesos.

I also ordered their houseblend iced tea, which was also nice to clean the palate.
