Usagi Cafe is one of those small shops along the side of Abel Nosce in BFRV in Las Piñas that have been popping up recently. This cafe has been in construction and prep for a while now; I've been eyeing it whenever I pass it on my bike route.

The atmosphere and ambience is very cozy and Filipino-like. The decor is tasteful and features Japanese stuff but the people absolutely aren't and it's always the staff that give a place its most distinct flavor. The family vibe is very endearing and suited to its small footprint.

We ordered the Usagi Sandwich, Meat Pasta, Strawberry Frappe, Sungayaki Rice, Usagi Blend hot coffee, Mango Crepe, and Coffee Jelly.

Right off, I have to comment on the hot coffee. I like drinking my coffee black, but only if it's of a particular brew and blend. Usagi's coffee is siphon brewed, and the flavor and blend is very soothing. The Usagi Blend coffee we got had a a crisply sour but clean entry, but it had a surprisingly creamy finish. I've never had coffee before that was that creamy even when it was black. It was well brewed as well, being very smooth with no bitter notes my jaded tongue could taste. This sort of coffee is very much to my liking, and marks out Usagi as one of the few cafés I intend to frequent just for the coffee, joining only a select few branches of UCC and Craft Coffee in QC.

The Usagi Sandwich, Meat pasta, and Sungayaki Rice were friendly and familiar without being outstanding. They get points for presentation, but the taste and texture profiles are merely reassuring rather than revolutionary.

Disappointingly, the desert menu consists mainly of the crepes and the coffee jelly, both of which are over-sweet on their own, as is typical of coffeehouse deserts. They're really meant to be consumed with the coffee, which both complement quite nicely.

I came here out of curiosity, but I'm definitely coming back for the coffee.

Has the authentic Japanese food, tea & coffee items. I was just a little disappointed in that the coffee was not strong enough for my taste (as compared to UCC & Diamond Hotel coffee).

Been here for the nth time already and every visit is the same: feel-good-chill vibe. Anyways, my friend was craving for a frappe last night and since it's her first time in the village, I tried not to bring her to Starbucks. There are a lot of Cafe's in BF and it took me 20mins to decide which. We both ordered Caramel Frappe, our other friends took Mocha Strawberry Frappe, Cappuccino Chip Frappe and Strawberry Smoothie. I have tried their White Mocha Frappe, Black Forest, Usagi Coffee (iced) and all their fruit blended drinks. I must say that without their popularity, Starbucks is no match to Usagi's. Caramel frappe tastes better than its Starbucks' counterpart; Cappuccino Chip tastes like Starbucks' Java Chip (still tasting better) and the other coffee-based drinks that I previously mentioned all taste better than the latter. Why do I prefer Usagi's than Starbucks. Starbucks' blend is light (light with referral to how easily you can taste the coffee content). Usagi's on the other hand, is a bit heavy. I'm a coffee lover so the stronger the coffee the better. At the end of the day, my friends loved their stay at Usagi and they said that they'll definitely come back soon.

(Starbucks' is still my first love.)

Tried their Napolitan Pasta, Spiced Tuna Pasta, Fries, Cola Float, Crepe, Ice Coffee ( Japanese Blend), and Nutty Banana Frappe. All are must tries except the fries 'cause its the usual. Their condiments are legit japanese products or at least in Japanese characters (and almost all their ingredients too). I think they make their own whipped creme and ice creme because it taste different and really good. Their house water isn't the typical water because it is with real lemon (and other ingredients, not sure with this though). The place is very comfortable and the interior design is fab, with japanese touch (japanese paintings, cherry blossoms, etc).

PS don't ask for sushi, ramen, etc. because they don't serve those. Their menu is within sandwiches, pastas, drinks, desserts, and rice meals only. I was also deceived by their "Japanese" concept.
