If you guys have been around reading my blog for a while now you may have gathered that I am very much a fan of Va Bene Pasta Deli. It has been consistent every time I pay a visit, and that is real value to its customers both as a brand and as a business.

Chef Massimo, owner and head chef of Va Bene, invited food bloggers and myself to their branch ag Central Square Mall, BGC. Chef Massimo wanted us to witness the launch of the new Bruschetta line.

He mentioned that everybody knows that they specialize in pasta, yet he wants to expand our appreciation for Italian food by bringing in yet another specialty from the beloved cuisine. He might as well, since Va Bene has established itself well in the food scene here. Hence, the launching of five bruschetta varieties.

The bruschettas apparently come in two sizes, or rather lengths. These usually come in single serve, bite-sized portions to serve as appetizers yet Chef wanted to be unconventional on this one and decided to present it with novelty. Va Bene’s new bruschettas come in Normale (25cm/ Php 288) and Grande (60cm/ Php 488) comprised of 2 flavors and 3 flavors, respectively. Imagine the lengths they went to to make this launch happen. Pun intended.

We were comfortably seated in a fitting long table setting and had a glass of red in had, awaiting the arrival of the anticipated new offering.

Everyone’s eyes widened as the attentive waiters come rolling out several long planks of wood, which hold the bruschettas. These were Milanese, Piemontese, Piccante, Trentina, Puzzona. Let’s run them down one by one.

The Milanese is bread coated with olive oil, arugula, salami Milano, shaved parmesan, cheese mousse and balsamic reduction. It’s a complex and strong combination of flavors care of the bitter arugula, saltiness from the salami yet with an understated sweet finish care of the cheese mousse and balsamic reduction.

The Piemontese, I would say, would be the most familiar in terms of taste. It’s a friendly mix of mushrooms, mozzarella, parma ham and an interesting drizzle of tuna sauce. Absolutely lovely. That touch of tuna sauce adds a somewhat elevation of flavor to the rest of the ingredients, which are relatively all mild.

The Piccante packs a bite with its the polpette ragu (chunks of Italian meatballs). This also has garlic, cheese mousse, and a dash of chili oil that amusingly goes well with its chunky meat.

The Trentina gives a heftier and more substantial bite. It features beef tenderloin carpaccio on a bed of arugula, topped with shaved grana padano and truffle mayonnaise. Definitely an intricate profile, especially with the bitterness of leaves and the garlicky musk of truffle.

The Puzzona is a wild selection mainly because of the delightfully funky taste from the aged gorgonzola mediated by the mortadella, and brought to a high note with the sweet caramelized onions.

Having all these made me appreciate all the more the work Chef Massimo puts into his art. It is a stark showcase of skill through the combination of the different profiles that all stem from his passion for good Italian food.

Arguably an acquired taste, these bruschettas. But they are definitely a treat, being able to have a glimpse of how the Italians eat.

Out of the clamor or mysef and other foodies who have dined here before we also got a treat of two of their best selling pastas, Black Ink Taglionni and Spinach Ravioli. These were delightful plates which we induged in full gusto despite being full.

Many thanks to Chef for giving us such an enriching firsthand experience tasting this new line of dishes from Va Bene. It is, after all, a trusted and reputable Italian cuisine destination. Would I recommend these? Definitely. An undisputed place to get some authentic Italian cuisine.

VA BENE!! Finally back here after xx years!!!!!

So one very stressful Monday, my friend and I decided to have dinner here after work. We promised each other that we'll eat here when we "can't even anymore". Perfect since we really can't even anymore!! 128563128563

I was supposed to order my fave, Truffle Pasta, but I can't finish it on my own. 128552128546 My friend's already set to order her fave, the Arrabiatta pasta, so we just shared that pasta and then ordered salad and pizza.

SALMONE SALAD. Fresh mixed greens with orange slices, tomatoes, and salmon. Light and refreshing salad! Loved the generous amount of salmon! 128155

PIZZA. Can't remember the exact name anymore but there's pesto and truffle oil. This was surprisingly good!! I remember not liking the pizza before but this was different, the bread was thick but still soft and the toppings were pretty generous. The whole bread/crust was covered with prosciutto and bleu cheese. And the truffle, you can really smell and taste it! Ang sarap! 128525

ARRABIATTA. My friend's favorite here. It was good but I'm just really not a fan of "legit Italian Red Sauce Pastas". Good but too sour for me. 128517

SERVICE was good. Though a bit slow and some servers were kind of lost and clueless with the menu, they were still nice and helpful. We both enjoyed the food and the experience! 128149

This was the perfect Anniversary date place for a steady couple like me and Mr. Steady. Good food, straightforward menu with no frills.

We had the Polipo (P450) - perfect combination of sliced octopus,
Tomatoes, olives, arugula and lemon dressing -- and the Organic Eggs Tagliatelle (P440) which had super tasty noodles and the creamiest sauce.

We also ordered a glass of wine each-- a Primitivo and Pinot Grigio. Very generous servings at only P250 a glass.

We will definitely be back :-)

I came in late and was really hungry by the time lunchtime came around. Suddenly I had craving for pasta, so I dragged my teammates to the best pasta place in our neighborhood.

We ordered 128020 Braised Chicken Pansotti and 128025 Black Ink Tagliatelle (again!). The marinara for the tagliatellle seemed a bit soupy, but still great. Nothing to complain about, really. And because the place wasn't full, service was relatively fast.

I was glad we went to Va Bene for a number of reasons: 1) the place was not packed and had enough seats to accommodate us, 2) we were able to choose the spot we want to be seated, 3) good service from all the staffs and 4) GOOD FOOD.

It's not as expensive as any other Italian restaurants but the quality is just the same. The pasta dishes were served al dente just the way we liked it!!!

I liked the Braised Chicken Pansotti (P390) mainly because of the al dente pasta. The Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce was a bit too strong for me but I still enjoyed the dish. I love cheese so it wouldn't matter if the taste is too strong or not.

The Pappardelle (P460) is so damn goood!! Twelve hours braised lamb shanks, Italian sausage, semi-dried tomatoes and black olives... This is what this Pappardelle is made of!!! It's really so good, the al dente pasta with the super soft shanks just hits the spot everytime!!! It could've been a better dish if it was a little more spicy but you can always add chili flakes to add that extra kick! ;)

This square pizza is something I would order again. The bread was super soft and loaded with flavours. There's really nothing much going on, it was just Taleggio Cheese, ricotta, mushrooms, truffle pesto and parma ham. Simple as it may sound, everything combined just created the perfect flavor for this pizza.

While waiting for my order at Chihuahua. I went to Va Bene Pasta Deli, just in front of Chihuahua Express to avail their Street Food offering (available from 3PM to 6PM only).

Upon entering the server greeted me and told me that if I can seat near in the entrance door 'coz they're having a problem with their aircon by that time.

The place is not that big but it can accommodate at least 50 pax. I noticed the warm colors of the place and the crafty lighting too.

For Php180.00 I got 4 pieces Crispy Cheese Ravioli with Tomato Sauce.

They served complimentary toasted bread while waiting.

I have dined here a few times since it first opened, mostly with my colleagues. Last night we were a big group of 6, celebrating our friend who just left us for greener pastures 128542

We shared these orders:

127813 Complimentary melba toast with chopped tomato and basil in olive oil (naks kumpleto!) - our group was makapal enough to request for several orders. Hahahaha. And in fairness, we heard nary a grumble. Ended up leaving a fairly generous tip.

128055 Polpette - the meatballs taste great, and the tomato-polenta-ricotta sauce is slurp worthy 128523

127812 Organic Eggs Tagliatelle - one of the best sellers lives up to the hype! The sauce is oh so creamy, the truffle flavor not overpowering.

128025 Black Ink Tagliolini - another of my favorites, the marinara is on point. My friend prefers this over Wildflour's, which was oil-based.

128020 Braised Chicken Pansotti - some of my colleagues prefer this, even with the gorgonzola sauce, the salty dumpling pasta makes it less cloying than the tagliatelle.

Came here on a Wednesday evening, and there were only a few tables occupied. Yay!

Shoutout to the crew for great service!
