These are volcanic rocks when Mt. Iraya erupted back in 400 AD. You might wonder why these rocks are smooth. Well, the waves from the Pacific Ocean eventually smoothened the rocks. Valugan which translates to “east” in Ivatan, is a nice spot for sunrise watching.

The weather was scorching hot but it did not stop me to go to the stones and sit down 128517 I think I burnt my butt there LOL! It's amazing how this beach became stoney!

And our first stop of our North Batan tour was this: Valugan Boulder Beach. The second I saw this, my smile instantly went way WAY up! 128513 It's amazing to see this majestic beach with all the layered rocks. I had to carefully step from one rock to another to get closer to the beach. The sound of the waves was just soothing. Everytime the waves crashed to those rocks, I got giddy and that "kilig" factor. It was just amazing. 127796127940🏻9925

There is no white sand here but it is a great place to commune with nature. Just sit on the boulders and enjoy the sound of the waves and view.

All beaches in the country are unique. The Valugan Boulder Beach in Batanes may not have the white fine sand that your feet will love but definitely it is the beach that your camera lens will love. You can enjoy rock balancing activities too!

Also known as simply Boulder Beach. Because it's a beach. Made of boulders. 128539

While not necessarily the most scenic spot in Batanes, it is somehow just so peaceful here. The ocean crashing against the rocks just soothes my soul.

You're welcome to climb out to the water if you dare. Just be careful. Many boulders are loose or slippery. And if you happen to leave your bag someplace and walk elsewhere, it may take you a while to find it again. 128517 True story. Better to just carry it all with you or leave it along the road. Don't worry, no one will steal it. Batanes has a 0 crime rate, remember? 128077
