Had their tapadera (like roast beef), mashed potatoes, and french beans during our noche buena. Pick-up was convenient and everything was packed nicely. The roast beef was tasty but a little dry when we got to it. The mashed potatoes and beans were gooood!

Vargas Kitchen's Butter Cake is perhaps one of the best, if not THE best Butter Cake in town.

A retro-pastry in all its simplicity. Even if they have somewhat remained under the foodie radar for some time, became quite a popular made-to-order pastry for home indulgence or to be given as gifts. Once only available by pickup at the owner's exclusive Makati village home is now readily available to the public thru any of its 3 branches (this one, I got from their branch at Rustan's Grocery @ Shangrila Plaza).

Simple as this pastry may seem, biting into this heavenly sweet is pure bliss. The Buttercake is so moist, and "buttery". A light sponge with a mild chew which pleasantly melts in your mouth. The pastry has a very thin buttery custard-like crust that must have formed while baking. A far cry from mamon, taisan, or those other commercially available buttercakes.

Vargas Kitchen's Butter Cake comes highly recommended to sweet tooth foodies.
