Back logging 128513

It was past dinner time so my parents were in a bit of hurry in search for a place to eat. While driving around Batasan Hills we noticed Verena's Cafe luckily we were all craving for Filipino Cuisine so we did then stopped by at the place and then dined..

Ambiance - ambiance was great since the place has the modern twist to the interiors it has a large framed quotations about food and stuffs it also has a garden area where you can also dine as well..

Food - we tried their best sellers for the pizza we have selected the Longganisa Pizza with Salted Egg which was great they did a different twist with their pizza. We also ordered their Laing which I liked since it was a bit spicy then their Sinigang na Panga ng Tuna, Mackerel Kinilaw, Binagoongan and Rellenong Bangus..

Price - the prices of the food were affordable the bill reached around 2k for 7 people which I find not bad.. Since it was really worth it.. Trust me!!

Crew - were great and attentive

If you are in search for a modern twist for Filipino Cuisine I suggest you drop by and try Verena's Cafe around Batasan Hills, Quezon City...

Super forgettable and overpriced food 128566

We ordered the calderetang kambing and sinigang na hipon. The caldereta was good, but it was mostly bones & the serving was really tiny. The sinigang na hipon had the tiniest shrimps EVER and it was mostly soup & vegetables. Huhuhu. To think it was P500++. Could've gotten something way better and more filling at another restaurant. Service was really slow as well. It took about 45 mins for our food to arrive. They were on soft opening pa when we visited so let's hope that improves! The al fresco area is nice and perfect for dates, though. 128522

we've decided to give this a try when we saw the "pugon pizza" as one of their specialties, plus it's near our place.

we ordered the "kano" pizza, their supposed version of an italian pizza. we also ordered the spaghetti with sardines, which the waitress said is good for sharing.

then the food arrived...and what a major disappointment! the pizza is...so-so. i couldn't even taste that "pugon-baked" taste. and i expected the ingredients to be fresh considering that it's P410.00 for its very small size. tinipid sa ingredients and we really didn't find it delicious. and then the pasta, yes of course you can "share" it but you'll definitely still feel hungry afterwards (yes, it's just for 1 person!). and the pasta is priced at P320! for a dry and bland pasta, that's expensive.

i wouldn't mind paying for such price, but at least give us some quality, more delicious, (not even more serving) food.

they're just a week old so i hope they will do a lot of tweaking in their recipes. i believe that people get curious to try something for the first time, but it's the dining experience that they always come back for (and it's not only about the ambiance).

definitely not coming back here.

The Holy Spirit Drive in Don Antonio Heights is fast becoming another food lovers strip. To date, this is the latest addition -- a restaurant converted from a residence.

Family decided to try it out, since it is very near our place. Our family of seven ordered the following:

1. Pinakbet Pizza -- pugon-baked 12" pizza with pinakbet topping. Interesting taste, without the bagoong base. Howevver, would have been great if it was piping hot

2. Callos
3. Caldereta Kambing -- this is one dish that I always try out whenever I see it on the menu. This one was bland. The cheese cube twist did not blend well.
4. Laing -- looks unappetizing and not only that, there were pieces of bones mixed with vegetable
5. Lumpia Shanghai -- soggy rolls

They claimed that each serving is good for two - this is true. However, the way they presenting each needs improvement. As an example, the callos was overflowing from the small plate.

One major gripe is that they waited for all dishes to finished cooking - so when they served the dishes, some were cold. :(

Overall -- a bit pricey and needs a lot of menu tweaks. So not looking forward to their steaks.
