Sip your way back to the 90s with an awesome feel of Versus Barcade in Uptown Mall, BGC. This new concept bar offers not just the usual bar but a lot of choices to enjoy arcade games! This is the second stop of our Looloo rendezvoos!
The interiors of the place is modern and you immediately wanted to try on those classic arcade games such as Pac-Man, Simpsons and Ghostbuster Pinball! But aside from these games, Versus Barcade offers alcoholic drinks and something to eat.
Though not a fan of drinking a lot of alcohol, I tried some of the mocktail and cocktails they offered. I love their Mr. Pacman and Mrs. Pacman. It is a mix of different alcohol which was perfectly selected to match. But to be honest, I enjoyed more eating those “pulutan!” 🏻
For the bar chows, we had a selection of Chicharon Bulaklak, Chicken Skin, a platter of nachos and quail eggs (Kwek-kwek). I really love the quail eggs together with the sauce they made. It was a combination of sweet and spicy but not the usual one we taste.
If you also wanted to rent that place, they mentioned that there’s a VIP area upstairs wherein your can reserved.
Overall, it was a fun night. Definitely a place where you can EAT, DRINK and PLAY! Thank you Looloo and Megaworld for the invite!

Concept restaurants and bars has captured sophisticated customers this 2018. And I believe we will see more food establishments getting creative in the goal of luring you and I to their doors.
Imagine a Bar with an Arcade. It’s confusing at the start but it worked out eventually for me. Initially I was like, are they inviting kids to drink?
This concept thrives to two markets actually. The one who goes to the bar to drink his favorite mix, and the companion who just happens to be dragged along. I am always the latter, and now I have something to do- play arcade for free.
I used to drink alcohol, never really liked it. But I frequent bars becuase some of my friends loved the night life. Here in Barcade, I can do more than pretend to enjoy, I can now gladly burn hours having their own bar chow curations and sip glasses of mocktail while I jump from one machine to another.
No tokens needed to play the classic games I grew up in. They have Pacman, Street Fighter, Battle City, Go Kart Mario, Basketball, Pinball, just to name a few.
On this invite we had a few starters, including Kwek Kwek with a nice sweet and spicy dip, and some crunch from Chicken Skin, cheesy Nachos and Chicharon Bulaklak. For drinks, I had a customized sweet chocolatey malt drink without alcohol. The others had a mix of sorts like Mr. and Mrs. Pacman.
Go ahead and challenge and chat with their Baristas. They are up for a concoction that you will hopefully love and get addicted to. The price points are high, but it’s well worth the experience.
Thank you Looloo for the opportunity to be a kid again. I was indeed fortunate to be one of the few to try this new joint before everyone else. Finally, a bar that’s calling my name.

Versus Barcade opened the second week of January 2018 and it’s safe to say they have made every adults’ dream come true. A place where you can play games and have drinks with your friends. Although their drinks are somewhat pricey, its fairly acceptable cause you can customize your drinks to your preference and are made by the top bartenders in Metro Manila. It might get a bit pricey but the quality of their cocktails are superb.

If your childhood memories include Arcade addiction of such classics as Pac-Man, Super Mario, Mario Kart, Pinball, etc etc...then this bar in Uptown Parade is for you - Versus Barcade!
Dedicating an entire room of arcade machines for it's customers, you can play here as long as you want - given you'll order from their menu, of course. The bar space is huge, with a mezzanine area to boot! High ceiling and a grand bar area, it's a shy away from the usual cramped bars that can easily get crowded.
Versus Barcade has an extensive list of alcoholic drinks and bar chows but you can always approach their bartenders to customize a drink for you. Just like what Pat D. and I did, we went to the bar area and described what we wanted to drink that night.
Pat went for a mocktail - sweet and chocolatey. I went for a more daring cocktail. Gin as the base with tropical notes, sweet and smokey! I got this pale yellow drink that obviously had pineapple in it. It was indeed sweet and the rolled bark that it was garnished with gave it that smokey profile. Though it was too strong for my liking, I would say that the bartender knew his stuff!
Mixing and matching liquor, soda, juices and even herbs - they came up with several cocktails as requested by other |ooloo reviewers. Something light and bubbly with a hint of basil, fruity and sweet with some guava juice - I must say that the bartenders know how to make their cocktails fun!
Then there was this literally dirty glass of what I thought would be a chocolate lover's dream cocktail because the glass was covered in cocoa powder! A mix of Johnny Walker and chocolate syrup, there was too much alcohol for my liking.
Onto the bar-chows, their platter of nachos could have been knock out if they added a bit more saltiness in it. It was loaded but then again a bit more cheese won't hurt. We also tried their Kwek-Kwek. Though there was nothing special, I would say that I liked the sauce - little sweet and somewhat spicy.
The Chicharon Bulaklak and Chicken Skin were fried to crispy perfection, oily as expected. Nothing extra ordinary.
Though we didn't get to try their actual rice bowls and mains, I would say that it was still a fun experience. Their staff were friendly and accommodating and because of the concept of unli Arcade Games, I can definitely say that I will be back with the hubby and even the kids!

Tired of the normal night out with friends where all you do is drink, chat and maybe dance (when someone gets overboard in alcohol)? What if I tell you that there's a new bar in town that could make your mundane night a little bit funner? Hint: Barcade.
Hello, Versus Barcade.
Tucked inside the quiet side of Uptown Parade lies this spacious bar that mixes drinks with a different kind of fun. Stepping inside is like travelling through time as the place is a marriage between modern and the 70s or 80s with its nostalgic arcade games.
We were too excited to even bother look at the drinks list and went straight to the game room which has enough games to entertain a group of about 20. There were two pinball machines, Street Fighter themed machine, and even Mario Kart.
There's also this air hockey-like game where the goal of the players is to keep their pucks in the 1, 2 or 3 pointer grids to earn points. I tried it several times and after what seemed forever, I managed to score 1 point.
The best part here is that you can play all these fun games for free during its soft opening. Versus Barcade is still working on the best way to manage its game room but I'm sure that if ever they do charge per play, it will be worth it!
After trying some of the games, we headed back to the main dining area and tried some of the drinks and bar chows.
We had Mr. Pacman (PHP1,250) and Mrs. Pacman (PHP1,200) for sharing and we each ordered other drinks to try. I went with Bedtime Stories (PHP380) simply because I saw the word "cacao".
For bar chows, we tried Kwek-Kwek, Chibul (Chicharon Bulaklak) and Chikin (Chicken Skin). I didn't see the individual prices of these dishes but it is available as part of a set of 2 appetizers/bar chows and one main dish for PHP600. I don't think it's priced badly as you'd definitely get your money's worth if you pair your quick bites with the likes of Gambas or Beef Salpicao.
All of the bar chows were very straightforward and prepared without any frills. But one thing I liked about all three was that each one was done right.
Chibul and Chikin were crispy and enjoyable to eat. I had to stop myself from grabbing another serving of both to give others a chance to try it too. But seriously, I can't wait to get my hands on more!
Kwek-Kwek was paired with this brownish sauce which I first thought was for squid balls. Though good, I still prefer it with vinegar.
We also had a hefty serving of nachos.
Mr. Pacman is a mixture of Casadores Reposado tequila, Orgeat Syrup, Vanilla Syrup, Fresh Orange Juice, Lemon Juice and Chocolate Bitters. Though unpopular with our group because of its slight bitter taste, it was light enough to be enjoyed even by those with low alcohol tolerance.
Mrs. Pacman, on the other hand, reminded me of punch. The Beefeater London Dry Gin, Spicy Mango Syrup, Aperol, Lime Juice and Orleans Bitters mix works better for me as I had three glasses of this drink! It was a bit sweeter than Mr. Pacman and tasted lighter too in terms of alcohol.
My Bedtime Stories was one of the last drinks served and it was a lot darker than I imagined. The drink was bitter because of Johnnie Walker Gold but it was complemented by Frangelico, milk, gingerbread syrup egg yolk (as emulsifier) and cocoa powder to garnish. Sadly, even with cocoa, it was something I wouldn't order again. Maybe I'll just go with a non-alcoholic version of it which Pat D had.
And speaking of non-alcoholic, you can request for mocktails at Versus Barcade too! You could either choose the ingredients yourself or have them surprise you with their concoction. Price starts at PHP300 and could go as high as PHP800 depending on the ingredients. Peanut D liked her “The Peanut” drink.
Versus Barcade also has a second floor perfect for those who want a bit of privacy. There is one arcade game there for entertainment too!
And if you happen to be a smoker, this place also has its own smoking area which is located at the back of the game room, near Mario Karts.
We went on a Monday and the place was pretty much ours till around 9 p.m. We were told that the crowd could get crazy on weekends where this barcade would be like a standing room event place. So for titos and titas of Manila, I highly suggest that you go on a week night and try to come early. They close at 2 a.m. on weekdays and 5 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Overall, it was a fun visit and I will surely be back to play all the other games.
Thanks |ooloo and Megaworld for the invite!

“OLD SKUL PARE!”
That’s how I will describe our 2nd stop for Looloo Rendezvoos X Megaworld Uptown Bonifacio Crawl last Monday night
Versus Barcade is one of the newest place in Uptown Parade, Uptown Bonifacio. It’s a fusion of Bar and Arcade Gaming place. Literally, it’s a barcade. Haha!
This place makes me remember my childhood. Playing my favorite family computer and other arcade games. I got excited when I saw my favorite game few years ago (mga 2 years lang, charot! Just kidding! Haha ), Super Mario and Street Fighter, inside the bar. Ang cool sobra ng place! And I was surprised that all the machine was shipped from abroad. Amazing concept, indeed!
We were seated at the dining area where we had our cocktails and some of their bar chow.

Overall, I had an amazing night with Versus Barcade. The servers were polite and courteous. The management accommodated and gave us good service.
Btw, good news for smokers, they have smoking area inside. And another good news for those who wants to try the bar, you can play with your favorite classic arcade games for free on its soft opening.

Barcade night with looloo. My very first rendezvoos 🏻🏻♂️ Thank you Megaworld for organizing this event and it was nice to meet and eat with your team (Den and Ninz)
The food, the games, the place and the service were excellent. I like the concept of this place- you play your classic arcade games while you wait for your order. There’s mario, pacman, simpsons, pinball and my favorite is their curling table.
For the food- we tried their kwek kwek, nachos and chicken skin. It was good and the price was just right. Price ranges from 200-250.
Its not in their menu but you can order mocktails. The bartender was very friendly and created a chocolatey drink for me.
Overall, i really love this place. I’ll definitely bring my friends here. Highly recommended!
