Been meaning to visit this place ever since they opened but either my trip will be cancelled or they are fully booked. So for our trip, we booked as early as Feb since they accept at most 3 months ahead of time for the reservation.

The place is unique and conveniently located near Tagpuan and Mad Monkey’s. It gives you this eco friendly feeling. Though it does not have the beach view but rather sits at the residential area, the place is quiet. What I liked about it further is that outside they have this table and chair where you can stay while you wait for your check in and an outdoor common shower and restroom. There’s also a sink to freshen up after than long bus ride. These facilities outside alone is very convenient for the guests.

Reception opens at 7am and they’d be very much willing to accept your stuffs so that you can go on with your activities. Check in is at 2pm while check out is at 12nn. Upon check in they asked us to sign this sheet with guest details and guidelines. We’re quite surprised with the Php 500 per person securitu deposit for the keys and towels. Such was not indicated on the information provided upon booking. So I rushed through their website and it was included in the terms and condition. So, is it our fault? Or maybe just maybe next time include that as a special reminder on the booking detail confirmation.

Anyhow, our room is at the third floor. We’re a group of 6 so we’re a perfect fit to one of the rooms. Two restrooms and two bathroom for women and another separate set for men. Expect bunk beds but good ones. There are three sockets per bed with side lights. The bottom part of the bed has the pull out drawer for yor stuffs. Inside your capsule like bed is a shelf like for your other stuffs. There’s a designated area for your wet clothes. It took a while before they provided us with our towels due to the delay in the dry cleaning. Also, wifi services are available. They have four different routers to cover the entire place and it’s very efficient. Wifi passwords are available at the lobby.

The rooftop is your dining area with ref, oven toster, coffee maker and water refilling station. CLAY GO is observed. The place is nice!! You’d get a glimpse of the see and well see the industrialized side of San Juan. The open area is quite refreshing. Honestly speaking, I like the minimalist interiors and vintage touch from every bits. It feels like home with such comfort. Reception is out at 5pm so basically you’re at your own then.

Breakfast is served every 7:30am at the rooftop with simple options such as banana, pandesal, hard boiled egg and coffee. Sagada beans!! There’s also peanut butter, butter and orange marmalade for the spreads. It’s actually nice and simple. For the check out be sure to bring the keys and the towels with you to get your Php 500 back.

For my first ever hostel experience this is a good start. I like the orderliness of this place though the main receptionist can be quite mataray. But the owners are very hands on and kind. Another downside is the line at the bathroom since it’s common and share among others. But luckily there are limited rooms so the line won’t be too long.

Highly recommended place for stay in La Union. It has its perks and cons, but if you’re new to hostels, this is a good start! Hope every hostel can be as organize as this.

The location is great. A short walk to the restaurants, highway and beach. Wonderful service. Totally exceeded our expectations. We love the interiors and the shared spaces (very instagrammable) Even staff are accommodating and friendly. It is neat and comfortable. Their scented bathrooms are very cute and comfortable to change (feels like home). They have got WiFi in every floor. All rooms have air-conditioning and fans so you don't have to worry about feeling too much of the summer heat. Each bed also has its own locker and work table. Free breakfast to everyone pandesal, brewed coffee, hard-boiled eggs & bananas. Their roof deck gives guests a nice view of the ocean perfect for wave checks at dawn. P980 per person. Vessel Hostel is along the National Highway, Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union. If you're coming from the south, you can find it on the right side of the road, after Sebay Resort and before Kahuna Resort. It is also near ELYU Classic and Banditos (best burrito in town). So far this is the best option hostel around San Juan, La Union you better booked 2 weeks early because of their limited beds and in demand. #loolooDroneGiveaway

We came to San Juan, La Union last July 16-17 to take a shot at surfing, since we havent had a summer feel yet (we're dentists, so holidays and weekends are our workdays). My friend knew of this place through online so we decided to stay here.

Vessel Hostel is a compact, 4-level hostel made of stacked up repurposed shipping containers which opened I guess last April.

It has 2 6-bed dorm rooms, and 3 4-bed dorm rooms, all with A/C. They have a common room/kitchen at the roofdeck with small ref, a stove for cooking, kitchen utensils, and water dispenser. They also serve free complimentary breakfast from 7am-10am there as well. Vessel boasts of vintage feel and its small capacity makes you feel more at home with people and it's peaceful unlike the more popular Flotsam and Jetsam.

Their rate is P980/bed/night, and you have to email them for booking. They require 50% downpayment upon booking, and pay the rest upon check in. It's advisable to book probably 1 month prior, because beds become occupied real fast! They also require you to deposit P500 upon check in (for towel use and rent of room key) which is refundable upon check out.

We got the chance to meet the owners (surfer-architect couple) Buji and Nikki Libarnes, and they are very friendly and approachable! Apparently they live at the 1st floor of the hostel. They say that Buji is best friends with Jericho Rosales and that Echo is a frequent guest there (so you guys know haha)

AND!! To add to our short yet exciting trip to see the waves, we got to meet EBE DANCEL during our stay!! He was also checked in there, and he was right below our room (we were on the 3rd, sa 2nd siya)! We had a very nice conversation with him, and he told us that he sang at the wedding of the couple before and since then, they became really good friends. Ebe sees to it that he stays at Vessel whenever he goes up north. (Guys alam niyo na ha!) he was also the one who gave us recommendations on where to eat and have coffee. Basta ang bait niya, very humble also.

So if you're looking for some nice and quiet hostel to stay in LU, this better be it!
Should I come back? Def-freaking-finitely!
