Coming from Camiguin and arriving a bit late for lunch, Ellaine and I just tried to look around for a place to eat, we were looking for La Tegola but end up here at the Old Vienna Kaffehause. And the lights just went out(like just now), anyway. I ordered the Pesto Pasta with Chicken and an Avocado shake. I liked the pasta, it could use a bit more "kick" I guess, the taste is there but its a bit mild for me. But it did not disappoint at all. The avocado shake was superb, at 65pesos! Really worth it. We had calamares fritos for starters and it was okay, better than what Ive tried at other restos..It was Spaghetti Al Olio for Ellaine and she liked the generous amount of shrimps that came with the serving. She wished for more garlic to taste though. But still, not a total downer. The strawberry shake also passed her criteria, she likes them strawberries.( true story) . All in all, the experience was great. The ambiance was really quiet, a bit too dark maybe? Id still recommend it for a night out in the city with hungry tummies in tow.

First ate here in 2009, and was finally able to go back. So happy to find the quality of the food still as good, the service still as friendly and well-informed.

Too bad I missed breakfast, because they have SUPERB omelettes, and great bread and pastries as well as coffee.

Had the potato salad - which, though it wasn't authentic Viennese (vinegar-based & not mayonnaise), was nevertheless excellent - with the Hungarian sausage which was a good-sized portion and just the right kind of spicy. The noodles that came with it were perfectly al dente and buttery.

They also have an interesting array of regional products like Cagayan de Oro strawberry jam and Bukidnon 100% Arabica coffee.

Gave it four stars because I think it's about time they updated the interiors and made the restaurant brighter and airier. Feels more like a heurigen (wine tavern) because it's dark even at noon.

Otherwise, I highly recommend visiting this place. Till the next time!
