This review has been 6 years in the making. My love for all things cheese (including pickup lines) has propelled me to drop by Vieux Chalet. 6 years ago, I was in Antipolo but we kept getting lost. But now, the wonders of Waze and a more reliable android phone has allowed me to traverse the long and winding road that led me to this haven. Seriously, it seems like we passed through 2 guardhouses before we reached this place. Be prepared though, the road is quite steep and it’s a bit difficult to park your car if you haven’t mastered inclined parallel parking.

I wasn’t able to secure a reservation but we were lucky enough that when we arrived at 11:30, only a small group of people (who are staying in, since Vieux also offers accomodations) are inside. We were seated by the window and you can see the awesome view with the cool breeze and greenery. Our waiter was awesome, he was very accommodating and the type of person you expect will thrive on his role, a natural “people” person. Rustic-chic and very homey, its easy to slide into cozy, laidback and philosophical, life conversations. We ordered the Lamb Shoulders and the homemade ravioli stuffed with homemade ricotta cheese. I loved the ravioli, it’s the best I’ve tried. The texture was good and the pasta was al dente. It took a while before we had our food, so that means more time to enjoy the ambiance.

Remember to bring cash, sometimes their card terminals do not work.

I think Vieux Chalet exemplifies the best type of restaurant- simple, good food that serves as a catalyst and backdrop for the best conversations.

Even if they've been in business for the past 32 years, Vieux Chalet Swiss Restaurant in Antipolo remains a little secret among foodies.

They don't have massive marketing campaigns. They're not on Instagram. They're quiet because they know real "gastronomers" follow their noses & appetite to this quaint home resto up in the hills.

Amongs the stars in the menu is their Farm Sandwich that boasts of mostly organic & homemade ingredients. Imagine a thick pack of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, ricotta cheese, caramelized onion & a sprinkle of chia seeds.

Antipolo is known for its suman & kasuy. If you want it glammed up, come here because theirs is a wicked medley of fried suman in butter served with carabao's milk ice cream topped with roasted kasuy on the side.

I've never tried dragon fruit shake before. And this one's adorable. The refreshing magic? It's the oatmeal & greek yogurt with a dash of chia seeds.

I must say that Vieux Chalet's place is unassumingly pretty too. If you wanna come, they'd appreciate a reservation. Check their website for details.

The boyfie and I loved this place and we both want to be back here if we will again visit Antipolo City. The food is very good, staff are friendly, interior is homey and the ambiance and view is superb.

It's just pricey so it could fall to the category of a fine dining and date-place, so expect that you'll shed out a bunch. If you are celebrating a special occasion with a special someone, I definitely recommend this place because it's gonna be worth it.

The location is also a bit far from the city center and could be better accessed by a private car, although we were able to reach it via tricycle which we asked to stay and wait for us since we are not sure if there are regular tricycles roaming the place.

Still good for a 30 year old resto. Haven't been here for a long time. Still a cozy, romantic place with definitely good food.

We wanted to avoid the graduation rush to the restaurants so we decided to go here. We had the porkchops which came with Rosti and grilled vegetables, vegetable
Pasta, shrimp
Ravioli, carbonara and 5 cheese pizza. Food was very good. It"s
Not cheap but servings are good and flavors refreshing... I will go back here.

Everything was perfect! The food, ambiance, view, and service. This place is ideal for romantic dinner dates.

I'd rate the two dishes Fettuccine Alfredo and Swiss Platter alone with 5-stars. Their mango smoothie is the best I've ever tasted. Don't forget to order their desserts as well! We ordered Swiss Chocolate Cake a la Mode and wasn't able to finish it 'coz we were too full. 128522

Would definitely come back if only it was near to where I live. The only problem for me was its location, we had a hard time looking for the place, and I can say it takes a bit of driving skill to get up to the location due to the steep roads.

Had a very long wait to be served food on a Sunday lunch - more than an hour! Very disappointing.

Trying to find this place was an adventure in itself! Good thing the view, service and food made up for the mis-"adventure". Hehe

This bed and breakfast Swiss establishment is tucked somewhere at the slopes of Antipolo. A bit tricky to find but I guess that's just us. Hehe

There's a regular flow of customers and it's good that we were able to reserve a table for us in advance.

The staff, particularly Rico, was very accommodating and personable - never shied away from speaking to foreigners ... in French! ;) not sure how much they understood each other though. Hehe

Another staff gave a small tour of the place and showed is their spa area, and the 3 quaint rooms they had. Barry even managed to make new friends!

Now, for the food: we ordered the Berner Platte - a feast of seared home made bacon slab, smoked pork chop, European sausage, home made sauerkraut, rosti, veggies and home made bread. Good for 4! My favorite from the pile? The bacon slab! And I love the fact that most of their food are home made and made from scratch!

Will definitely come back and try their stone grilled fares, which you have to order 3 days in advance. Interesting, right? Oh, and the Wine! Must have wine next time! ;)

Bakit ngayon lang namin nadiscover 'tong place na 'to?!

Yup! That's what I said after eating their meal. Ang sarap! We ordered pizza, pasta and soup. It was all good!!! Every foodie should try this place. People here are very friendly! And it's over looking! Try their Lemon Grass Coolers. Super refreshing!

We will definitely go back here! Sama ko naman family ko kapag umuwi sister ko from Hongkong. 128076128076128076

Epic brunch with awesome friends after our Christmas party/sleepover in our house. Been wanting to try this place out but was lazy to try it by myself. Luckily everyone wanted to try it so we travelled all the way to Antipolo with 3 hours sleep each.

It's funny because half of the time we were questioning if we were going the right way and I read from another review that "when it seems you're getting lost, you're probably on the right track" and Lo and behold, we found the place with the help of trusty Google maps despite feeling lost most of the time. Haha 128517 the place really is that far and that hidden. But it's definitely a must visit IMO. 128077

It's surprising that the place has been up for ages but been hearing it for a couple of years only - the Hissig's (hope I got the family's name correctly) were both Swiss and they went to the PH and lived in that house since the early 80's and started the Resto. It's now being continued by the Hissig children and you can see all the family photos and some European fixtures. Place is simple, laid back, comfy, rustic with vintage accents, and has an awesome view of Antipolo and the buildings of Manila.

As for the food, we tried a couple of their classic best sellers:
✔️ Rosketa cheese
- they weren't kidding when they said it was good for 1. It was soooo small but the cheese and the paired veggies (baby pickle, baby corn, potatoes, black olives) were good. It's so bitin and expensive Lang 128546
✔️ pizza Napoli
- crunchy thin crust with a generous serving of mushroom, cheese, greens, onions, and tomatoes. If you're feeling healthy, this is definitely a good dish for you 128077
✔️ pizza de la casa
- same crunchy thin crust and yummy mushroom and cheese, but it has some ham and some sausages so it's a perfect mix of meat and healthy ingredients. I preferred the Napoli though over this
✔️ pasta ala Padilla
- red sauce flat pasta with lots of cheese and mushroom and some meat. I liked it but wanted some more savory ingredients added to it. Felt there was something missing
✔️ shrimp and spinach ravioli with truffle oil 128076
- now this is a winner dish. It's quite bitin but each ravioli packs a punch. Love the flavors and the mouthfeel from each bite. The white sauce with truffle oil was amazing 128525128523

Overall I found their food to be really good and the service was superb. The servers are always attentive and they know their dishes and what to recommend. Warning though that the dishes are a bit pricey - pasta ranging from 300-400, pizza ranging from 530-900, entrees around 700 plus, fondue at 1500 plus. But the experience, the view, and the good dishes make the visit worth it.

Good date place or simply a good escape from the bustling city. 128077

Ps: they have a spa service as well

I forgot to take pictures!:( Anyway, my parents used to go on a dinner date in Vieux Chalet before they got married. After 26 years, I'm now the one who went there for a dinner date.128541

M and I had the liver pate and cheese platter for our appetizer. Spinach Ravioli and the five cheese pizza, then the swiss chocolate cake with their homemade ice cream for dessert.

We also ordered the lemongrass drink (must try) and their Italian coffee(another must try) It was sooooo goood. It was even better than the cups of coffee I've tried in my recent euro trip.

By the way, their very own hot sauce is the bomb! They call it "Dimunyu". Try it and make sure to have a before and after picture! Hehe

We will definitely go back!

All the goodness, they already said it all.

One thing that I did not like was the price I paid. But then again, it was worth it.

After hitting Pinto Museum (finally! And I'll make a review about my experience once I'm done editing the photos - I only took photos there using my dSLR, see), I opted to eat here instead of Pinto Cafe because the latter was already crowded.

This place is not the kind that you'll discover accidentally (or if you do, you're probably really lucky). In my case, I consulted Looloo first, the night before, it's not that far from Pinto so it became my back up plan.

The place has a 'home' vibe. Even the staff made me feel home. They're very friendly and accommodating, plus the music they were playing was relaxing (I'm guessing that's a Swiss music, it must be). The view too was amazing, but I think it's better at night.

I had Fettuccine Alfredo and Mango Shake. I wanted to have something that is not pasta but most are for 3-4 persons and I didn't want to have something to go. Lazy. Haha!

Most of the ingredients they use are homemade, the ham and ricotta cheese in the pasta made it dainty, I loved it! I wish there's more sauce, though, and less oil! The Mango Shake was fresh, it was so refreshing, ah!

I'll probably go here again and bring my friends!

This place has the best and most refreshing drink ever - lemongrass cooler! I swear it's one of a kind and heavenly, you'll ask for more! I'll go all the way to Antipolo just to get another sip of this lemongrass cooler 128557

Hearty breakfast for 2 10084

This 1000+ breakfast platter was the prettiest and heaviest I've ever had. A whole platter includes ham, sausages, bacon, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, tropical jam, butter, toasts, fresh fruits and shake or coffee.

I loved that everything were cooked perfectly and weren't too oily but 1000+ was just too much :)) Nevertheless, I enjoyed the food and our overall stay here!
