Vigan Empanadahan

Visiting Vigan, Ilocos Sur, wont be complete without having their famous local food. Vigan Empanada (Heaven!). They have numerous stalls of Empanada. You can either take it away or have it eaten with friends while you buy Okoy (One of the yummiest i have tasted!).


Visitando Vigan, Ilocos Sur, no estará completo sin tener su famosa comida local. Vigan empanada (¡ cielo!). Tienen muchos puestos de empanada. Se puede quitar o comerlo con amigos mientras compra Okoy (¡ uno de los yummiest que he probado!).

I don't know why but bad batch yata ang nakainan namin. Hindi siya masarap. We should have tried the empanada place along Crisologo. I've read that it taste good daw. We ordered from ELP and took it home. Maitim na mantika nila ah. Marami yung umuorder sa katabi niyang stall. Parang gusto ko dun um-order pero sabi sa Byahe ni Drew ok daw sa ELP. Hay! So much to try again in our next trip here.

Love the native delicacies Vigan has to offer. Ilocos empanada and Okoy. Too oily though. Only 35each. Must try when you're in Vigan.

You don't go to Vigan and just pass by the "empanadahan." What I love most about this empanada is the thin and crispy dough. Then there's that longganisa, then the egg, and the vegetables. Don't forget to pour the native vinegar. Perfect! It's something everyone would love.128076

Aside from Irene's Empanadahan at Calle Crisologo, there's Empanadahan place with probably 6-8 stalls, with chairs and table around the area.

Tricycle driver pointed Evelyn's Plaza Empanada. You get to see how they prepared the empanada. Probably the thing I dont want to see was how they knead the dough with bare hands. Will probably not look next time. hahaha! #ArteMuch

It was served hot from the pan, light colored and crunchy dough, just enough fillings of longganisa and papaya, 1 whole egg. The sawsawan was kinda maasim. I dunno much but it was just OK for me. Even tried the takeout (from ref, then reheat, taste was still the same.) But for my lola who's a cook and very particular on foods she did like this!!

I already contacted a friend to buy me Batac Empanada to compare. hahaha!

Medyo dissapointed ako for not reading blogs ahead of time during our trip in Ilocos.
