Vikings has changed the game on eating all you can, bringing hotel like food experience at a lower price to Filipinos. They currently have 7 spots in Metro Manila and each branch caters at least 300 people. They have sushi and sashimi, fresh salad station, shabu shabu, grilling, pizza and pasta, seafood and desserts which include waffles, ice cream, pastries, cakes and make your own crepe. It star, the carvings include turkey, lamb, rib eye and lechon belly.

One thing that separates Vikings is their drinks. They threw this in as well for Php 995 with tax on our dinner weekend. They have multiple types of dispensed coffee, juices, milk tea, soda and even fruit shakes on the spot.

I also got to request Japanese items which their team did for me without hesitation. I asked for Spicy Tuna, Chicken Teppanyaki, and Japanese Fried Rice. They were not in the buffet and I waited paitently for it to be served to our table straight.

Customer service here as well is at par, each staff ready to attend to your needs. If it’s your birthday, they even give you a discount, free dessert, a signboard with your name on it and lots of joyful singing.

Vikings at SM Jazz Mall. This luxurious buffet restaurant has great interior - beautiful chandeliers, marble tables, and elegant dining chairs. European vibe with classy ambience.

Unlike its counterparts, this restaurant is not crowded which makes your dining experience more pleasurable.

Expect a wide array of food and beverages. Sides, main courses, desserts, and drinks.

Here are my top 3 personal favorites:

128205Roast beef. Cooked medium well. The meat is well-seasoned, tender, and juicy. Incredibly delicious with the peppercorn sauce.

128205Shrimp/Prawn tempura. A Japanese dish you should not miss. It has a light and crispy batter. Perfectly cooked. The tensuyu or tempura sauce brought it to a higher level. I loved it!

128205Chicken siomai. This dainty dumpling in general is a staple snack. Partnered with chili garlic with soy sauce and calamansi is just so good.

I loved most of the food but admittedly, I was not able to try everything and there were couple of dishes that's off. These were the stromboli which was tough and hard to bite on, and the bolognese pasta which was dry and under flavored.

Overall experience is great. Recommended!

We chose Vikings Jazz because we wanted a less crowded place compared to the other branches. We were fortunate to get a reservation via Zomato for 6 people for a Sunday lunch.

A posh European vibe greeted us as we entered the place. We were accompanied to our table, which was situated next to the sashimi station (yay! More sashimi for me! ). Compared to the Megamall branch, the choices of food here were less, but it was less crowded.

Drinks
One of the things I appreciate in Vikings is their variety of drinks available from juices to beer to coffee.
The iced tea tastes like it was brewed or made fresh from tea leaves. It tasted similar to the Wendy's iced tea I love.

The milk tea was also good.

I tried the tamarind juice, it was too sour. It tasted like the sampalok candy turned into a drink.

Vikings Jazz has 2 coffee machines, which I totally appreciated 'cause there were more choices available ( 3 in1, brewed, espresso, Americano, latte). I just wished there was tea available like the other branches.

Japanese
Salmon sashimi always runs out. The moment the chef puts it into the serving dish, it disappears in less than 30 seconds. It was a good thing that the chef kept on replenishing the salmon sashimi to satisfy salmon lovers like me. The quality of the salmon sashimi is just at par with other buffets. I didn't bother trying out their sushis since sushis in buffets are usually dry. Spicy tuna salad is not as good as I expected it to be.

Bread
There were tiny bread that looked really interesting. There was a croquette, cheese inside a rolled strip of cucumber, a soft tart with cream cheese topping, and a triangular dumpling. I don't know what these were called but they were generally good. We liked the soft tart with cheese topping the most.

Hotpot
You can ask for a hotpot to be placed on your table from the Chinese section. My dad got the laksa flavored soup. It was too spicy, the kind that feels sharp in the throat. The soup wasn't flavorful.

Grilled Items
I got the salmon. It was okay, a little fishy. It had a lot of bones so I had a hard time eating it. It was served with vinegar, which made the fish taste less fishy.

Yakitori Station
I wasn't able to try this but I saw pork belly, beef and chicken available.

Seafood
Mussels, crabs, and shrimps were part of the buffet selection. The shrimps were cooked in tausi sauce. The crabs were cooked in a yellow sauce. The mussels were baked with cheese and butter. There were no baked oysters. I think they substituted the oysters with the mussels.

Kids station
I wasn't able to try any of the food here but these are the food I saw: penne in a white sauce, french fries, pizza, toasted slices of baguette with toppings, and smores.
I saw bolognese and taco rice but I wasn't able to try them. My sister liked the taco rice.

Cheese
There were three kinds of cheese available, but there were no labels. My sisters and I liked the white colored cheese which looked and tasted like cream cheese and had a number of things mixed in it like some herbs and drued fruits. My sister also liked the tapenade served with crackers.

Other dishes I saw but wasn't able to try: chawan mushi, yangchow rice, miso soup, lamb kaldereta, etc.

Carving Station
There was roast turkey, binusog na lechon, Roast Lamb, U.S. prime rib, and Summer Roast (beef). The binusog na lechon was really good. The rice was flavorful with spices and the richness of the lechon. The lechon was also tender. I asked what the difference between the prime rib and summer roast was but I don't remember what exactly the waiter said. I think the differences were the time of cooking or the spices used, not sure. Lol. Anyway, I liked the summer roast better because it was more tender than the prime rib. The best among the rest of the meats was the roast lamb. It was really tender, flavorful with rosemary and other herbs. It went well with the peppercorn gravy.

Dessert
There were marshamllows and fruits (pineapple, watermelon, and melon) available for dipping in the white fondue and pink fondue.
The Churros were quite good. It can be eaten with chocolate and strawberry sauces, sprinkles, chocolate chips, etc.
For cold treats, frozen yogurt, halo-halo and ice cream were available. The frozen yogurt was on the icy side but I was fine with it since it wasn't too sweet and I love froyo. There was a variety of ice cream flavors: strawberry, chocolate, pistachio, ube, vanilla, cheese. I loved the pistschio flavor. I think they serve Big scoop ice cream 'cause it tastes like the one I tried from Big Scoop.
The small desserts in the shelves were not as delicious as they looked. Some were bland or too dry. The coffee jelly was weird, it was swimming in cream.
I was expecting thte ube-chocolate cake to taste good, but it was dry and bland too. I can't even taste the ube flavor.
There were cupcakes displayed on a cupcake wheel, as well as small bar desserts like revel bars. They looked too dry so I didn't bother trying them out.

I also had an unpleasant experience in the egg waffle station. I could understand the stress the chefs were in 'cause they were preparing the cakes for the bday celebrants, and also making puto bumbong and bibingka. I  just waited for 5 minutes or more, hoping someone to notice me, because I really wanted an egg waffle. Finally, after a few more minutes one of chefs  noticed me. She asked me what I wanted. I told her egg waffle. After talking to the other chef, she went back to me and told me, "ma'am wala pa pong batter." I asked her how long it will take for her to make a new one. She told me, "matagal pa po. Ano pong table number niyo?" I told her our table number, and waited for the egg waffle. After 20-30 minutes, we were wondering what happened to my egg waffle. I went back and asked them if my egg waffle was done. They didn't mind me, so I just decided to come back again later. After 15-20 minutes, my egg waffle still didn't arrive. My dad went back to the waffle station. I followed him there. When my dad asked if they were done with my waffle and told them our table number, the chef (the one I talked to) said they had no order for our table.  I wasn't sure if she forgot or was pretending not to know. 128528 Anyway, she made a new one for us.

In fairness, the waffle here looked better than the ones I tried in Four Seasons. However, looks can be deceiving. At first bite, the waffle was warm, and perfectly crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. However, as I was chewing it, it tasted a bit bitter. We thought maybe it was because of the black burnt specks on the waffle. We ordered another one, which looked better, with no black specks, but there was still a bitter aftertaste. I think it was too much baking soda, because I had this baking soda bitter taste in my pancake recipe before. Maybe they can try lessening the baking soda next time.

Overall, I can say that people really come to Vikings to experience an assortment of dishes. The quality was not topnotch but it's okay for the price you pay. Vikings Jazz was less crowded than Megamall, but I probably won't be coming back here since I wasn't too satisfied withe chocies and quality of the dishes. I love the ambiance here though.

Price: 3/5

Service' 3/5

Tips:
I tried reserving a table for 6 pax in Vikings online, but was unsuccessful because it said that it was already fully booked. Fortunately, I discovered that you can reserve a table via Zomato and I successfully reserved a table.

If you order anything from the buffet stations to be cooked and it doesn't arrive for 20-30 minutes, it is a good idea to follow it up 'cause our order was lost/forgotten 2-3 times (grill station, hotpot, and dessert station)

The food are good but the basis for 3 stars was that the foods was not as good as its used to be. Plates needs to be clean thouroughly. Tempura needs to be improve, hate to go into details.

Nonetheless its better on a weekday here as its not too crowded. Dessert station was good though.

I celebrated my 19th birthday in Vikings Makati and it was really memorable. For me, it's actually one of the best branches to dine in (just reserve two or three days before the actual date), though there wasn't really that much of a crowd when me and my friends ate there.

Wide selection of gourmet dishes, ranging from Asian cuisines to Western, also there was a plethora of beverages to choose from. The dessert section was the grand finalé!

The European decòr and feel was an added bonus, I honestly want to go back here soon and try the other dishes

((and by the way, this was the first time that I actually ate sushi and I was trembling #cultureshocked))

BUFFET!!!! 128525

Team4 had a lunch at the nearest buffet restau from our office, Vikings, SM Jazz Makati.

I believe it was one of the smallest branch of Vikings but of course I still enjoyed its wide selection of foods.

I wasnt able to capture everything I had on my stomach since I was too hungry 128514

Loved the ambience and cute interior decorations.

Celebrated a surprise despidida for a friend here. We had a dinner reservation at around 6-630 PM. Since i was already at the area early around 5:30 that time, i already went in. I realise arriving 5:30 which is the start of dinner time here has an advantage:

1. You can have some light snack while waiting - salad, cold cuts, bread, etc.
2. Not so many people yet at the buffet area.
3. Also, the dishes were still fresh since it was just served.

We got completed around 7-730 PM, that's when I started with the heavier dishes. It was like i had snack and dinner. It felt more 'sulit' eating this time as i wasn't in a hurry.

This is my 2nd time in this branch, and I was the one who recommended it to my family. 128584 Because I really enjoyed my first visit, but this time I did not. Maybe they are better on weekdays rather than weekends and special days 🙃

We celebrated Father's day here, They started strong when they opened, since we were the first ones to come in but after 30 minutes of full house I noticed their struggle.

Struggle in refilling the food
Struggle in attending to guest concerns
Struggle in providing excellent customer service. (Specially the steak station, where the guy assigned looks exhausted and not welcoming). I noticed it because I am a steak hoarder kinda guy.

Well the Dining manager is courteous enough to go around the tables to get feedback so I guess they'll improve their operations.

Food was okay, 128077128513

Celebrated my new godchild's baptism @ Vikings in SM Jazz yesterday. The place is closer to the look of NIU in SM Aura.

Loving the ambiance. Classy look especially the grandeur of its colorful chandelier. Everthing is so pleasing to the eyes. The event is situated in a function area (estimated capacity of more than 50 pax)

There is a wide variety of dishes: Filipino, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, And Korean. All of my usual favorites are present: salmon & tuna sashimi, hakaw, salads, steaks, oysters, shrimps, & different maki.

Wide variety of drinks: coffee, draft beers, tea, milk tea, sago't gulaman. I enjoyed the ice blended milo 10084

Desserts are my finale. I had one scoop of each: green tea and coffee and added sprinkle. Also, coffee jelly.. And I'm done.

Location is not that crowded, despite its lunchtime (as compared with their Megamall branch). All time favorite dishes are present and ambiance is noteworthy.

Went here tonight to celebrate mothers day and apparently they are implementing 2 batches: 5-7pm and 8-10pm *im not sure if this is only for tonight*, having dinner at 5pm is something foreign at least to me but we grab the 1st batch since we dont want to be full at a late 10pm, good thing my brother was there early to confirm our reservation *they will give the reservations away to walk ins by 5:15pm, since their 1st batch reservation is already full. We arrive at around 5:30 to 6pm and i was surprised that there were lots of empty tables, it was half the usual crowd of a friday night. Err, what happen to the full reservation? Notice the crowd was abit rowdy at food area tonight, very different from the usual crowd but i wont delve into that. 128528

What really pissed me off was when i was getting something at the dessert section and one of their personnal was loading plates beneath the area, so its either i get past him quickly or wait for him to unload what he was holding on, my action was the former, but after which i felt a hard push of his shoulder at my lower back, so the effect of that push was the dessert on my plate brushes off on the hair of the lady on my front 128544 And that was it, i knew i cant let this situation pass, i look at that personnel and he was avoiding my eye contact for several seconds and continue on what he was doing as if nothing happened, so i told him "bakit mo ako tinulak?" And thats wherein the comical sorry with a smirk comes in. Ive been in situation wherein pushing was part of the game like riding an mrt, culture of a country or even sports so i knew what an "accidental" push vs intentional push feels like, and i surely felt that force on my lumbar area. I then, ask for his name, he replied "bakit ba sir", so i guess he knew what was coming. Had to escalate this situation to the manager, and she was very apologetic, but i will definitely write a letter to vikings to follow up on this matter. 128544

Now going back, they will literally close the lights at the buffet area at 7pm so naturally i have to go get some ice cream but i was told that "sir last na yan ah", hmmm so was i suppose to feel thankful that i was given a last scoop of ice cream?? 128533 and by the way, while scooping for the ice cream, the hands are literally touching the ice cream 128547.

So i guess, it was not a good one tonight coz i literally stepped on a puto bb on my way out of the resto 128514. Oh man.

Just want to reiterate my past reviews here, this is my favorite vikings branch among all, but if i could rate 0 stars for tonight i probably would. But then its a 1 star and its literally hate 128544, for my 200+ reviews, this might be the 2nd or 3rd resto that i gave a 1.

Random notes:
1. Plates needs to be clean well, can see smudges on some.
2. If you are in a big group where some individuals would be late for more than 30mins afrer meeting time, avoid this kinda of batch buffet coz 1hr wont be enough time to enjoy the buffet and catch up on one another.
3. Did they increase their price? Its now 1k+ vat inclusive.

Had lunch at Vikings today, and it was my first time at Jazz Mall. I'd say I'm pretty impressed with the interiors. It's way different from the one in MOA in a good way. However, when you're in a buffet. The food comes first more than anything. I'd say, there were fewer choice of food in this branch. In terms of almost every food. The selection of maki is fewer, and the tempura just vanish easily. Though, I love their lamb and slow cooked beef which is really tender and soft. Even the drinks selection and dessert is limited. I am really disappointed with the food. However, I really like their small presentation for the celebrants. They even have capes besides the usual horn. I'll definitely go back to Vikings but maybe not this branch. I still prefer MOA's.

My favorite vikings branch among all, yesterday was the night i have to celebrate with family, It was the usual vikings feel with quality sashimi's and plenty of choices.

They have promo that birthday celebrant are free within birth month as long as you bring 4 people with you.

Something vikings of this branch worth noting, they really need to thoroughly clean their plates and saucer cause when i was getting my a plate some batches of their plates are either oily or have food residue. :(

But overall it was still a great dining experience, And by the way, i wonder if something happen to their vikings hat, it was missing that night. :)
