This is located along Session Road lined up with the city's best kept restaurants. Never leave Baguio without a taste of Vizco's Strawberry Shortcake.

The combination of the glazed fruits and moist strawberry chiffon is worth the hype. It's so good you would want it for your birthday.

Cakes are all reasonably priced; actual rates may vary:
• Slice of Strawberry Shortcake costs Php80
• 6" Small Round Cake at Php 375
• 8" Medium Round Cake at Php 610
• 10" Large Cake at Php 1065
• 10x14 Cake at Php 1950
• 12x16 Cake at Php2 800

Tried a variety of slices including Lemon Torte, Ube Cake, and Carrot Cake paired up with brewed coffee. Whether you're going for a dessert of full meal, they also serve rice meals, salads, pizza, and pasta. Went here after dinner so I asked the best-sellers instead. According to the staff, ribs and tapa is also a crowd favorite. Service is pretty fast despite the number of customers. They also have a branch in Camp John Hay.

I brought home a whole round cake and it survive the 5-hour drive to Manila but we have to finish it the same day to keep the freshness.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. So creamy and fluffy. It's actually gooooood. Just not super omg good. But it's omg so pretty, right? 127827127827127827127827 I think this is one of the must must try when in Baguio which is why we tried this. But I still don't get it. Is it just because of the strawberries? 🤔

PS: Best to consume it right away. We bought a whole cake so we can bring it home. And after a few days (2 days?), it wasn't as good anymore. Lasang plastic balloon. 128563128563128563

Most of the reviews feature the famous strawberry shortcake, but Vizco's blueberry cheesecake is also a must-try! :) Orders take time to arrive, though. Also, the reason why I ended up with the blueberry cheesecake is because, for some reason, there was a shortage of strawberry shortcakes on the day of my visit. :( Overall, the experience was okay. :)

We all know that Baguio is the land of strawberries and anything strawberry. There’s strawberry taho, strawberry sorbetes and even strawberry sinigang. But let’s not go crazy and talk about savory strawberry-flavored dishes. Let’s stick with desserts, particularly shortcakes. And by shortcakes, I mean, Visco’s.

Hello, Visco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop!

I’ve been reading a lot of great reviews about this cake shop along Upper Session Road for years. However, R and I usually avoid city center whenever we visit Baguio as we’re both not so fond of traffic, worrying about parking and crowd. The foodie in me could not take it any longer though and wanted to take a bite of the famous shortcake to know if it really is one of the best in the country. With frustrated tastebuds, I asked R and his parents if we could pass by the bakeshop one evening after dinner for me to buy a slice or two. And they said yes! *twirl*

I was greeted by a long take out queue when I stepped inside the busy restaurant. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to buy a cake as the display showcase was almost empty with only two strawberry shortcakes left.

But the friendly cashier assured me that they still have a lot more and true enough, I spotted a bunch of tall fridges when I reached the counter.

I originally planned to get a slice of Strawberry Shortcake (PHP95) but after seeing how everyone goes crazy over its cakes, I decided to make my trip worthwhile and ordered a 6” cake for PHP430.

I quickly took a slice as soon as I got back to the rest house and it was heavenly!

The chiffon was so soft and fluffy and each layer was stuffed with cream and strawberry slices. But I loved the top part best as it had generous serving of huge strawberry slices and jello.

This treat is perfect with tea or coffee while enjoying the foggy view Baguio offers.

I’ll definitely brave the traffic again for more of this delectable cake!

Tried a slice of their strawberry shortcake. Chiffon cake was soft. Fresh sliced strawberries were a bit sour (off season), the icing a bit too sweet. Overall ok. Lessen the sweetness, then it would be perfect!

have a confession to make. I’m not a big fan of strawberries. I have always associated strawberry with the fake kind that you get in ice cream, beverages, and other food items. But Baguio has always been synonymous with strawberry. And when it comes to Strawberry Shortcake, there could only be one for that: Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop

Tucked in a row of restaurants along Session Road, I’m quite sure that I have passed by this restaurant during the countless of times when I was in Baguio. And I was none the wiser.

The cake display isn’t in front of the restaurant. And you’d have to go inside to discover the treasures they’re hiding. In fact, cakes aren’t even the first food item in their signage outside the restaurant. It’s the last.

So forgive me for only discovering Baguio’s open secret just recently. 🙂

Their display chiller is every cake lover’s dream. Rows of delectable and yummy looking cakes enticing you to buy them all. But of course, we had to curb our impulsive tendencies. We saved just enough room for dessert after that big lunch.

After a few minutes of waiting, a slice each of the Strawberry Shortcake and Mango Torte landed on our table. As customary, we had to take a photo of every side of the cakes while the waiters chuckle at us. 128512

The first bite was the sweetest. The pillow-soft sponge combined with the tartness of the fresh strawberries and the sweetness of the thick cream sure tasted like heaven to me. The combination of flavors and textures melded into a nostalgic goodness in my mouth. Nostalgia because it made me remember the joys of my youth, picking out strawberries in the Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad. I almost didn’t want it to end. It was also a light cake and would surely make you want to go for seconds.

I’m getting melancholic just writing about it. Oh, I’ll surely come back for a whole cake next time.

Strawberry Shortcake: Php 95/ Mango Torte: Php 125

My girlfriend and I won't be able to celebrate our 64th Monthsary on June 14 together because of my job. So we decided to have an early dinner to one of the best restaurant here in Baguio.

The Baby back Ribs is quite filling, with blue cheese dip and vegetables on the side. It's actually good for sharing depending on your appetite. Pasta Paella is also a "must try" the ingredients of a paella without the sticky rice, serving is good for 1 - 2 persons, again depending on your appetite. An authentic dish you must try when visiting Vizco's.

We've visited Vizco's several times in the past, there are many selection of dishes, pasta, pizza and cakes. Don't forget to visit Vizco's next time you visit Baguio. Food is great for a price that's very affordable.

Vizco's is my go to place whenever in Baguio, whether it be for snacks or for a full meal. Strawberry Shortcake and Strawberry Vinaigrette are my default orders. These will never go wrong.

The Strawberry Shortcake is of course, their most famous cake that anyone of any age would love to enjoy. It is sweet just right, soft, and so true to its flavor. The Strawberry Vinaigrette is delicious too. Lettuce, chicken, tomato, cheese, caramelized walnuts, ham, egg, olives, and strawberry vinaigrette are all in a bowl of unforgettable salad. We also tried their Baby Back Ribs. It was quite flavorful but not tender at all. Lastly, the Red Velvet slice of cake. I am more to hate red velvets coz I think some never get it right. So far, this is only the second red velvet flavored pastry I've ever liked, the first being that of Vanilla Cupcake Bakery's awesome red velvet cupcake. Here, theirs was quite good, so moist, and the flavor was strong enough to convince me it's better than most of red velvets out there.

Why I always would like to dine here is because they have a very good selection of food, from main dishes to light snacks. Its simple restaurant makes it true to Baguio and the serene Session Road.

THE LEGENDARY VIZCO'S STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE

The title sounds like it came straight from an anime cooking series. It might as well be legendary as everyone from Baguio City knows this cake. You are not from Baguio if you haven't tried it yet.

However, I had the chance to try it a couple of years back and it hugely disappointed me. I ordered a slice and it was quite a sad sight to see. The yellow colored chiffon was dry, rough and scratchy. The icing was bland and saggy and yes there were strawberries. I thought to myself, really, this is the famous strawberry chiffon cake that everyone likes? This is it? This was from their session road branch.

I never tried it again until a week ago. I was waiting for someone outside the grocery in SM Baguio and saw these yummy looking cakes. The strawberry topped one caught my eye and it looked horribly familiar. Well, except better than what I recalled. My cousin, who was with me at the time, pointed to it and said that a lot people say it's really good. I wrinkled my nose in disapproval, and told her about my experience. We left as I took a lingering glance at the cake. It did look better than the last time.

The next day, I wanted to surprise my cousin with something, so I bought the cake despite my inhibitions. We had it as a midnight snack with coffee after watching Insidious. And now for my re-review of the cake.

I was so surprised that it was very moist and airy. The chiffon was really fluffy and you can almost not chew anything. I guess that is a good thing for people who like airy cakes. It wasn't refrigerated for a couple of hours so I don't know if that affected the texture. The icing was sweet and thick. The strawberries were still crunchy. There's also gelatin on the top that held those strawberry slices together. It gave a sour and tangy as contrast to the whole cake.

Was I pleased? Yes. Is my opinion renewed? Yes. Is my bad experience deleted? No. Of course, I had this cake in a different branch. SM BAGUIO, so to say. They would need to deliver their bests items here. If you know what I mean. I call for another tasting test back at the session road branch as soon as I get back to Baguio.

I love their salisbury steak. The burger patty is not the usual fastfood style. It's made of soft meat and is really tasty. The price, some would say is expensive, but for me, it's enough for the food. The side dish is well cooked too. Of course, the ripe mango shake is a good pair.

Strawberry Shortcake is one of my all time favorite cakes. Buy one at the Metro either at Conti's or Mary Grace or Paper Moon and it sure is pricey. But in Baguio, where strawberries are mostly in season, you can have them at less than Php 700. Vizco's is like the Becky's of Baguio. Homey kind of cakes that ensures quality. An 8" cake is less than Php 700, and it's all strawberry written all over it. The sponge cake is strawberry flavored too with creams and strawberry at the middle and the outer layer is covered with cream and strawberry with jelly. It's not so sweet but the strawberries are not sour either. I don't know how they make this but it's a must to grab when you're in Baguio. 10084
