One of my all time favorite Chinese restaurant for many good reason. One of which is it became a huge part of my childhood, literally and figuratively. It made me "huge" during high school days as it was so near our house that time that we will just order here because food is so good and so cheap back then. Although price these days have increased tremendously as compared before, it is still "sulit" compare to other restaurants in the malls yet quality is assured to be good and food is really good. I personally love and will recommend their sweetvand sour pork, lemon chicken, tomato porkchop rice, fish fillet in white sauce, asado and soy chicken rice for the viands and rice meals. For dimsum, siomai and wonton.

Ham Soi Kok aka Ham Soi Gok minced savory pork with hint of char siu .The dough was made from glutinous rice ,texture from the external is crispy yet character of the tikoy's texture is evident when already chewing it.Love the uniqueness of it.

#BINONDOFOODCRAWL!!! 🤗🤗

First Stop: WAI YING (along Benavidez st.).

FOOD - 127775127775127775127775

We ordered Dimsum (Hakaw + Siomai), Ham Soi Kok, Beef Noodle Soup, Fried Lumpia, and Coffee Jelly Drink.

🔸 HAKAW - Not the best hakaw but for the price, not bad! The wrapper was not that thick and does not stick nor break easily.
🔸 SIOMAI - This was good. Does not tastes too processed (unlike other siomai).
🔸 FRIED LUMPIA - Okay sana but too oily. TOO OILY.
🔸 HAM SOI KOK - Okay rin sana kaso oily rin. OILY RIN. 128563
🔸 BEEF NOODLE SOUP - SARAP!! The soup was tasty and flavorful. The beef was tender and the noodles were firm. Yuuum!!

SERVICE- MEH. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

PLACE- If the place is clean, you're not in a Chinese Restaurant hahaha! Ito ang aming natutunan nang kami ay nag ikot ikot sa Binondo haha. 9996🏼128517

It was after a wedding we organized and all of us in the team were so tired and famished so one of my friends and I decided to feast on something yummy. We were in the vicinity of Intramuros so the most logical next step if we were on a hunt for good eats was of course to go to Binondo!

Admittedly, it was my first time to eat again in an eatery located not inside the malls, but along the narrow streets of Binondo. The last time I did that was probably when I was 7 or 8 with my dad. Lol. But a Chinese meal is always my feel good food, so why not.

When we got there, it looked authentic as hell since the people handling your food are mostly Chinese. The first floor was packed with customers, and it was just 5pm. So we proceeded to the 2nd floor and luckily we found a vacant table. Immediately, a server gave us a copy of the menu... and it was too difficult to choose! It's like you want to order one of everything.

Their meals were reasonably priced: a rice meal I ordered (asado/soy chicken rice -- yes, it's a 2-viand combo!) costs 165 pesos, while the dimsums go for 65 to 100 pesos. The fried wanton (12 pcs!!!) cost 160 per order. My friend got a noodlle dish, which is 130 a pop. For the serving size, not bad eh? Taste is awesome as well, just the right balance of savory and sweet -- exactly what I like!

All these come with a free hot tea, what a steal!

Just a minor concern: it took too long for the servers to get and serve our orders... but I guess the wait was well worth it. :)

Will definitely go back there to satisfy my authentic Chinese food cravings probably tagging everyone along and ordering their other dishes. Just not sure when the right timing should be so that it won't be so jampacked.

100th looloo review, yaaaas! 100241002410024

Our fourth stop was Wai Ying Tea House. Wai Ying is an institution! No food trip in Binondo is complete without stopping by this place. By this time, we were already really full from the noodles and everything else we’ve already eaten so the short walk from Lan Zhou La Mien did not help at all hahaha it was so near! 128514

Personally, I associate Wai Ying with dimsum, specifically, dimsum that we constantly crave for. Because of that, we came here to have some siomai and hakaw because weirdly we still haven’t had any after already passing by three restaurants.

The Wai Ying branch in Binondo is reaaaaally basic. Don’t expect it to look as clean as the newer one in Taft (hi, fellow Lasallians!). It’s also really crowded. By the time we got here it was a bit past the usual lunch time and it was still packed.

The siomai (70 pesos) and the hakaw (80 pesos) were both alright. I remember liking their siomai more than the hakaw but in general, I like hakaw a lot more so I was a bit disappointed. Each serving comes with four pieces of siomai / hakaw. Food here is really affordable. They also have a wide selection of rice toppings which nearby diners were ordering other than the usual fare of dimsum.

Chinese Fastfood. Good price and big serving. They just need to have bigger space to accommodate the more customers.

We've been finding ourselves in Binondo quite often lately. For each visit, we've going around the classic spots. The ones I've regularly gone to over the years, decades even. Some I've reviewed in the past, some I figured there's no need to do one since everyone knows about them.

I'll take an exception for this one. Wai Ying along Benavidez is a staple in Binondo.

It's part of perhaps every Binondo food crawl / food tour - even foreigners troop to the place. When we dined in there were a couple of backpackers who were practically eating food good for 5 but they're just 3 - that's a lot since the serving size in Wai Ying is not really good for just 1!

The wife got the congee while I ordered the classic pork asado noodle soup.

Since I cook, a lot of times I try to deduce ingredients from taste. I can't seem to figure out what makes their congee "tasty" by itself, I've tried making congee on my own - I've used various kinds of broth to make the congee taste better by itself but I can't replicate this taste! If only they were nearer to my place, I'd just grab take out each time you're craving for one.

For the Asado Noodle Soup, if you're a picky eater, it seems like it's not thatappetizing given how it looks - but you're in Binondo and not in a fancy restaurant. It's "part of the taste" - from what I can tell, the black bits are charred bits from the asado. The asado was meaty, the "edge slices" I like the best since they pack  the most flavor. It has fat bits to make it juicy, but not too much to overwhelm the whole asado. The broth tastes like its also a mix of different bases, but none of the "MSG flavor." Noodles, while some don't mind - I for one am very picky about it. I like it firm, but cooked, the Italian term is al-dente but my preference is slightly firmer.

Every time my office mates see a post of mine, they bug me to bring them around on a Binondo food tour. Maybe one of these weekends I'll indulge them and actually go about one - on the condition that they pay for my food!

Service is so-so but you don't mind since I highly doubt if any of them are actually trained, they deal with "TDKs" on a daily basis so that by itself needs attitude for them to "survive." 128517 The place looks like you're back in the 90s, but you don't mind since the place thrives on practical "comfort food." And for Php320 for the meal for 2, with take-out - not bad, not bad at all!

Always a good visit! Their milk tea tastes so legit. And the congee has a distinct taste I have thus far been unable to find elsewhere. 128156128525

It's chinese food and fast food. When I say fast food, I mean FAST food.

Had spareribs rice, beef mami, siomai, and 2 milk teas. All came in about 5 minutes.

The spareribs were even better than tim ho wan's. Beef mami is good with rich soft meat.

Head over this local chinese resto if you're craving it. Won't disappoint but don't expect the most fantastic of ambience, it is in Binondo anyways.

Value for money = 128077

Craved for Chinese food in this gloomy weather. We were all driving around Binondo looking for Pokemons - nah, just kidding! We were doing an ocular around the area for our shooting location when we all realized that hey, we're in Binondo so let's all eat Chinese food! And where best to experience Chinese cuisine than Wai Ying!

Prices here are way lower than Chinese restaurants in the metro. For my order, I opted for the Soy Chicken Rice. The gingery taste was strong but was really good in the soy chicken. Definitely a must try. The chicken serving was also big.

I got to taste the wanton in their Wanton Noodle Soup and damn it tasted so good! Very delicious! I think I liked it better than their siomai. Plus the soup was really tasty, the chicken broth was strong. Perfect for the weather.

I also tried their dimsum - spareribs, beancurd, and hakaw. Kinda irritated that my favorite chicken feet was not available! How?! Chinese food = chicken feet! 128545 Anyway, at least everything tasted great. Spareribs were big and kinda bony but delicious. Hakaw was stuffed. Didn't get to taste the beancurd because they all ate it before I got one!

Also tasted the sweet and sour pork. Not their best dish though. Pork was hard to chew, but the serving was definitely sulit.

Any other Chinese restaurants that you would recommend here? I wanna go for a Binondo food trip! Plus everything's very Instagram worthy from the food to the streets!
