The photo I've uploaded here is a photo of what you see from the end of the hotel's dedicated pier, facing the Garden Island of Samal. Beautiful space to get your bearings in the morning. Have some quiet... And just generally watch the sun rise and be one with nature, even for a fleeting moment.

My experience of Waterfront Insular was most pleasant and I felt cared for. The staff were very helpful and generous with their time. As a single mother who has to juggle bringing my toddler with me in all my workshops, and also trying to ensure I keep my professionalism, put in the proper time to host/lead sessions during my workshop, the ready assistance and kind consideration of the staff helped me a lot. In particular, I ran out of milk and nappies for my toddler and could not ask anyone to help buy any for me since everyone was focused on preparing for the next day's sessions. A kind concierge volunteered to buy the milk and diapers for me, using the hotel car so I wouldn't have to pay for the car rental which would cost me over a thousand bucks just to drive the concierge right outside the hotel. In exchange for the car service, they only charged me P100. I tipped my concierge P150 because he didn't have to do what he did to extend help to me. This kind concierge's name is JV.

I hope this review can be shared with the hotel to commend him because I don't think he understood how much relief and help I felt I was given that early evening.

The food at waterfront is good. The ambience is amazing (my toddler was so happy with the beach, the pier, the lawns, and the water fountains and wee waterfall near the reception). The natural elements helped relax us all amidst very intense work and purpose for gathering there.

So, 5 stars to this hotel. Even if the rooms are a bit dated... The staff service is excellent (housekeeping that is responsive to multiple requests... Extra table for meeting inside my room because I could not leave my son, extra pillows to keep my son from hitting the concrete wall...). It sometimes takes some time to get to you but they get to you with a smile and always with a warm thank you. It is, after all, a sprawling hotel with probably over 500 rooms or more.

Beef tapa hits the spot. The pastries are great! The fresh drinks and shakes are awesome... Grill restaurant took some time to serve us but you should try the Mongolian, the grilled squid, kinilaw, grilled tuna panga, pork liempo... The mango cheesecake melts in your mouth like icebox cake/ice cream... Super rich and creamy!

Did not get to enjoy the pool area with my son but will do so next time I am back in Davao. Will make this my default hotel in Davao from now on. No more staying at city central bed and breakfasts or hotels. Insular gives you the right balance of nature, service, and contemporary comfort.

We arrived quite late , almost midnight in fact last week on a Tuesday .
We were checked in quickly and there were still bellmen to help with our bags . +++++

The place is just as I remember before Waterfront acquired Insular . Sprawling , low buildings like a luxurious hacienda, it still has that feel.

The rooms are quite spacious and well kept though no longer new . The building are connected by long covered walkways .

The walkways could do with better flooring, maybe a nonslip granite type tile floor would be nice instead of just polished cement which gets slippery when it rains .

Woke up, got ready to check out and headed to the buffet breakfast. +++++ ....ahh
Fresh fruits
Chicken adobo
Brown bread
Mozarella stuffed tomato halves
Great coffee

Heaven .

And do check out the Sulu pearl kiosk on their grounds
A great place to get authentic quality south sea pearl jewelry at a good price ! ! First time I bought L something there was about 18 yrs ago (Spilled the beans there :-))

This hotel was off the hook. It was more of a resort/vacation hotel than a business hotel though we checked in there to conduct business haha. They have a lot of functions room and even a court size open air ballroom for big events reservation. It has a swimming pool and a beach. You can walk along the shore and enjoy the morning breeze of the sea. Whats more is Samal Island is just a boat away. At night they have a live piano performance which gives the hotel a more relaxing ambiance. Food is great too. Be sure to check this place out.

very accommodating staff. 128513

the hotel proper was far from the entrance giving you the taste of "privacy" and "exclusivity".

rooms are spacious and very comforting the only thing that hindered me from giving five star is some of the furnitures are old and the sink is clogged. 128531

hotel surroundings is well landscaped. our veranda is over looking the davao gulf anf the garden near the pool. 128077

Had breakfast in the cafe of Waterfront insular hotel in Davao. I must say I was disappointed with their food. The croisant wasn't freshly baked anymore. It felt and tasted like it was from yesterday's menu. Every bite felt like i was chewing on a rubber. The mangoes were too ripe! The coffee was my favorite order. As for the strawberry praline and kahlua praline balls they were expensive but they didn't taste like anything distinct. Such a waste of money. :(
