Yes,  this is one of those media events and it felt like my Stans aint fit for the festivities.  Everyone seemed taller,  it felt like i was surrounded my giants.

Digressions aside.

Waterside is the newest restobar to join the ultra savvy establishments inside Solaire.  Me and my Stans are fortunate enough to get an invite on their media launch (shameless plug #foodsocietyph).  Waterside screams elegant,  expensive and high-end (not in that order).  This is the quintessential restaurant you find inside a casino where high rollers dine and drink.

They specialise in Latin American Fare.  The media launch set-up was in the buffet style,  guests can get grub via the food stations.

| Tapas
| Nachos x Tacos
| Paella
| Carving
| Seafood
| Dessert

My favorite stations are the Tapas x Cheese because Manchego cheese is love.  The La Mancha native captured my tastebuds a couple of years back and I've been head over heels in love ever since.  Did you know that Manchego has high proportions of protein and yes it is even richer that meat...

Next on my list is the dessert station.  I love all of the desserts they serve.  The dulce de leche thingy is heavenly,  decadent and really addicting.  The one infused with meringue,  custard and berries is also good.  Perfect proportions of sweetness and tang.

Overall,  me and my Stans enjoyed dinner at Waterside.  Good food,  good ambience.  I'll ditch my Stans for a nice pair of pumps on my next visit.

Peace Out!

Went here with my boyfriend for our Christmas dinner. 12787610052

We were already full from our dinner at home but we felt like going on a date because it was also our 28th month together, so we ended up ordering not-so-heavy meals. 128522 The serving of the dishes were reasonable for its price since this is a fine dining restaurant.

Good thing there were only a few people when we ate thus the ambiance was really good and the service was top notch because they were really attentive to our needs.

The ambience and service was great. And I loved how they kept refilling my bread basket. 128522

They said that their specialties are the paella and tapas, so I had the paella valenciana and croquetas. Croquetas were yummy. The aoili drizzle was so good, I literally wiped the plate with each croqueta to absorb everything. 128517

The paella, on the other hand, was a disappointment. Taste-wise, it was ordinary and I've had better elsewhere. And instead of prawns, they used little shrimps. They were "matipid" on the chicken and sausage too. One chicken piece even had some bone still in it (hurt my mouth when I chewed on it). 128559

The service was excellent and very friendly. We were in a private room but, the downside was, they didn't have a buzzer for us to ask for assistance. So each time, we had to go out and seek out wait staff... Though that wasn't difficult...

The food service was not bad because our food was brought to us within 15 minutes. The paella takes longer so, good thing my dad ordered it ahead before we got there. Paella was so-so. Too much bell pepper/pimiento after-taste...my hangar butcher steak with a side order of potatoes a la carbonara and mango salad was.... Smelly. I took one bite and spit it out. Asked the wait staff to bring it to the chef and serve me another piece of steak. They opted to serve me the oyster blade boneless... Eeesh. Completely turned my taste buds off of my craving for steak.

The side dishes were good but the potatoes were too oily. The romaine side dish was not bad (what my mom ordered) but the egg seemed out of place. I salted mine and added black pepper, otherwise would've been bland to me. The peas a la francoise was so-so. Strong cheese after taste which some people might not like but it was okay to me.

Chicken Inasal was bland without the soy and calamansi dip. My dad enjoyed his snapper (spedini). My only happy plate was the shrimp popcorn which tasted awesome with the garlic dip they had.

For quite an expensive place, the experience was lacking and disappointing save for the lady who served us. She was great and attended to my steak immediately. But the replacement steak was not hot when I got it.

The vanilla poached pear with pistachio anglaise sounded so good. Since "poached" was a description for the dish, I expected a warm pear. I got a cold dessert dish. Odd. Would have been awesome if the pear was hot... Though the anglaise may have melted on it... But when you tell me poached, I look for warmth in the dish. :(

The humita side dish was the other happy plate, by the way... That's the photo on this review.

Let down, in general. Scale of 1-10, my experience was a 3. Pretty low. The other dishes were decent but should've been more for the price.

P.S. The room was effin' cold so we adjusted the temperature..they should've asked if the room temperature was to our liking when we came in.

Celebrated my birthday here! My family enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. Everything was just sumptuous. We ordered paella valenciana, surf & turf, pork sisig and adobo. A bit pricey but compensates for the quality. Although we got shocked by the price of their drinks, a bottle or corona beer cost P250++ and 3 coke in can cost us P450++. I got a complementary birthday cake though.

Food, service, ambiance -- all great! The best paella valenciana in town, surf & turf & land platters were amazing, co-stars were equally fab, and surprisingly not that expensive!

Ceviche (P220)
Pork Sisig (P140)
Paella-Valenciana (for sharing P1250)
Surf / Turf (P2850) good for sharing upto max 5pax
Co-Star Mango (P90)
Co-Star Humita (P90)

We ordered Surf and Turf and the salmon was spoiled! It reeked and the chef did not even notice??!! Servings are too small. We are all still hungry.

This restaurant should be on top of your list when you visit Solaire Resort and Casino. Located at the newly opened sky tower overlooking the gorgeous swimming pool. This spanish-filipino inspired restaurant set the bar pretty high. Honestly, i'm not really a fan of this type of cuisine but this is absolutely a game changer. I actually dined here twice already and i definitely want to be back again.

Dishes to order

Nice place, good food, excellent service. The tapas and the paella were good and served fast. For four, including a bottle of wine, we paid P4368. Ambience: light, relaxed, spacious.
