Friday lunch out on a pay day (last week) was delish! 128523128523128523 It's a good thing we had reservations in advanced, thanks to #booky, we even have a 100php discount and a free dessert!

As one of my colleagues is on a diet 128528, instead of getting ala carte menu's for sharing we just got individual orders.

So we got the following:

127860 Sautéed Beef Fillet with Broccoli Rice (my order) 127775127775127775 1/2 This was a good meal! 128513 I 128156 how tender the beef was and the sauce was flavorful. The broccoli was cooked perfectly with still a nice crunch to it!
127860 Sweet and Sour Pork with Rice 127775127775127775 Serving size was good considering the price however in terms of the taste department, they can do better. The pork was tender but the coating had a soggy texture.
127860 Barbecued Pork Noodle Soup - Strange as it may sound but I can't seem to recall how this dish tasted. 128563 It looks good in the picture, but I'm definitely sure the taste was not there otherwise I should have recalled how I enjoyed the food.
127860Cheesecake Buchi - 127775127775127775 we got this for free! Yay! I 128156 this concept of taking the usually buchi into a whole new dimension. I personally enjoyed the dish, so as my colleagues. A bit sweet for my liking and surprisingly it's not even oily! 128513

Overall dining experience is a 127775127775127775. The interiors of the place is nice however, they should improve on the ventilation as it was hot inside the restaurant! The food overall taste good but I don't see the wow factor that I am looking for. It's like the food is good but I have tasted other which are gar better. Price a tad expensive but serving portion for the rice meal is kinda ok. For those in a "diet kind of appetite" 1 order can be good for two. 128521

Just a 128221, if you are planning to dine here, I would suggest that you book ahead of time so that you need not worry about waiting in line.

What we ordered:
Pineapple fried rice
Wee nam kee fried rice
Beef broccoli
Sweet and sour fish fillet
Hong kong stir fried noodles

Serving size: okay; so so
Taste: 4 stars! I enjoyed everything, though the pineapple fried rice tasted just like the wee nam kee fried rice

Checks:
Ambience

No-no:
The place was so well lit. It's like the interior designer was obsessed with lightbulbs. The AC didnt seem to be working during our visit, or perhaps it working, there was just too much lightbulbs!

Worth it? I'd say yes.

Terrible service, condescending staff, unsmiling waiters. Food not at par with the original Wee Nam Kee in Singapore, far from it. Don't be fooled by the premium yellow Hainanese chicken.

Dreamed of chicken rice on my to work the other day (yes, was sleeping on the bus 128554). So came lunch, didn't consider other food stop but Wee Nam Kee.

We arrived at around 12nn and we were second on the waiting list. We made advance order since we're kind of in a hurry. Didn't take a while though and we were ushered to our table.

Got myself a personal set, steamed chicken. It's my usual order actually. Favorite. Just like the ones in SG. But love their Cucumber drink too, and their spinach soup! 128521

Service quite improved from the last time I was here. Would be better if the servers put a little more smile on their faces.

Got to visit their renovated branch after some months. I've been meaning to pay it a visit and that day was just apt. I really liked their old interiors but the new one felt very modern and classy. As for the food, still delivered on taste. Had their Hainanese Chicken Rice and opted for the roasted version. And yes, I was able to control myself by not getting another serving of their chicken rice! 128514

My favourite!! Honey crisp squids! The first time I tried baby squids was in Singapore and it was really really good even the ones in their hawker centres. And so I made it my mission to look for these babies in the Philippines. 128025128025128025

I found one in John & Yoko but the closest to what my taste buds are craving for was this in Wee Nam Kee. Its a good alternative for now until I come visit Sg again. Any other baby squids find in the country? 128512

You're back!!! There was a time i went to this branch to get some man tao lovin' and it was closed! Booooo! But i'm glad they're open and interiors have improved! The ambience from outside hasn't changed but upon entering, it feels like those cooking games where you've upgraded your kitchen with those hard-to-earn gems/cash/minerals/whatever because this has leveled up! The ceiling is high now and i don't remember if one side was indeed a brick wall but now it is. That same brick wall is lined with different sized and framed mirrors. Opposite that is another mirror paneled wall giving the illusion of bigger space. I must say it works!

While waiting for my two work kids to arrive, i reviewed the menu and the 127858 classic laksa (P310) looked inviting. I took that and an order of 127838 mantao (P78) for two pieces. Long live this fried friend of mine! We were reunited in all its crisp and golden brown fried glory! I like that it does not ooze in oil and it is soft and delicate inside. I enjoy it plain but the condensed milk brings it to another level! Once the two girls arrived, i had them try the mantao and they loved it, too!! Yay, new recruits!

We then proceeded to order the medium combination roasted and steamed 128019 hainanese chicken good for four P515. Three cups of chicken rice P50 each. A round of iced tea was served free. Cool! They also immediately gave us service water which was great since it was quite hot out. The food did not take long to come but good thing we got the laksa ahead because the girls were famished. It was quite a late lunch after all. Laksa was filling, it had a pot for extra soup, there was much into it - hofan noodles, four strips of pork, several soft squid balls, a generous amount of cabbage and togue and a few more squishy rekados. As to the spiciness, it was a bit mild, they could increase it a bit. Maybe i'll ask next time.

We also got an order of 127831 prawn paste chicken wings. I felt that it needed more flavor on the batter because i didn't want to dip it in the sauce.

We ended the meal with more mantao buns! I wanted to have more but my stomach couldn't take it na. At least i know where to get a quick fix to satisfy my mantao cravings!! :)

SG feels at the Triangle. I love their version of Chicken Rice and that Cucumber Lime drink.

They have recently revamped their interiors; hopefully service will improve too.

Singaporean Beef Noodles has fork tender beef brisket, crisp Taiwan pechay and straw mushrooms. It comes with a chicken broth that you can pour over the noodles to add a more comforting taste. Perfect for a rainy night! 127858

If you can't decide between steamed or roasted chicken, just have both. 128516

I really liked how these are cooked. Both were tender and really flavorful but the dipping sauces make 'em even better.

Service was okay but some servers, I felt, were in a mood. Mala-Cara Delevingne. (Reference: Cara's Good Day Sacramento interview) 128513

I'm not too keen on Chinese cuisine that's why I'm pleasantly surprised when I dined at Wee Nam Kee and found every dish that we ordered to my liking.

The Chicken Rice (PHP40) is moist and tasty, reminds me of the famous green rice of Paotsin. It’s what you would remark as “kanin pa lang ulam na.” It tastes so good, you can do away with viand.

The Roast Pork (PHP220) is good for two persons. It’s a given, roast pork is delicious, I wouldn’t say though that there was a little something special with this one. It’s just your regular crispy pata.

One of the dishes that I don’t like cooked in a Chinese way is noodles. There is something about the way they tasted that I couldn’t get myself to appreciate. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised by the Fookien Noodles (PHP205). It has bits of chicken, shrimps, and vegetables. Totally delish and savory.

The scrumptious Small Quarter Chicken (PHP248) is very moist, tender, and tasteful. It is both sweet and salty and we couldn’t get enough of it.

It’s Lime Juice for our drinks (PHP55). It is not as strong or as sour as the ones I had before (thank god!). It has just the right amount of sweetness.

If all Chinese food tastes as good as the food at Wee Nam Kee then it might just become my most favorite dish.

There was a time in my life when I spent a majority of the year in Singapore or Malaysia. Whenever I get those cravings I go to Wee Nam Kee. The place helps me relive those truly ASEAN dish moments such as the rice bowl meal pictured here. Good taste at an okay price. The servers could be better trained but overall it is a nice place.

Wee Nam Kee used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Ever since they opened, there are only two dishes in their menu that I order. I always get a plateof mixed steamed and roasted chicken rice and their honey crispy squid.

We decided to dine here because the other restaurants were packed that night.

Service was a little flat. The staffs looked too serious. Glad the customers were having fun haha!

Their honey crispy squid was good but not as good as before. The sauce was loose and it lost the sweet-spice-y flavor. Right now, it's just sweet.

Their roast and steamed chicken was okay. Nothing to rave about anymore.

What happened? Tsk3

My last backlog for 2014. Still happy eventhough i wasnt able to reach my goal which is 100 reviews for 2014. 86 reviews are not a bad figure so far 128221✔️

And My addiction to weenamkee is back! 128513 3 branches for 1 month. Ano to mall tour? 128526

This time enough for yellow chicken coz we tried the roasted chicken. Its masarap and malasa. Pero sorry.128528 Yellow chicken padin ako. Ill put roasted chicken on my second best list. 128539

We also tried their beef with broccoli as expected masarap. And ang fresh ng broccoli plus medyo ma vinegar yung lasa ng beef na tender. This was marinated so good! 127775 As per my old post, Everything here are masarap!

I learn something new that you can ask for a free house tea. ✔️ This branch could probably their biggest branch. And I have told that this is their 1st branch here in the country. 1⃣✔️

I was glad to discover this restaurant. Sarap na hindi nakakasawa! 128522

Not that many choices in this area. The only thing I liked from this particular visit is the chicken cooked in salted egg. This place should upgrade their tablewares. Their bowls look dirty and it's not really bagay to use melawares for Chinese food. I mean, the sauce, it stains the melawares. Im usually not maarte, but the melawares were a turnoff, mukhang madumi.

If I were to rate their Hainanese Chicken Rice, I would give it 5 stars without even thinking but this post is to review the Cereal Prawns so I'm only giving 4 stars. I absolutely love cereal prawns and I love how generous they were with the cereal on these prawns! The taste brought me back to Singapore and how much I enjoyed the seafood over there (cereal prawns and chili crab are seriously the best thing ever). However, I'm only giving 4 stars because the prawns still had their heads on. I can't take shrimp heads, they freak me out. Makes me feel kinda weird eating prawns when their heads are still on their body and I have to be the one to cut it. Oh god, haha.

Anyway, the taste of the dish was absolutely delicious, once you make peace with the heads and remove the prawns from their shell, you can still cover your prawn in more cereal and enjoy it! It's actually a very good dish but I'll probably request for the heads to be removed when I order this next time. It's a little pricey but so so worth it!
