I missed you |ooloo 128522128522128522

Let me start my backlogs with our dinner in Wee Nam Kee.

We spotted Wee Nam Kee in Serendra on a busy Saturday night and decided to try it since every single restaurant in the area was full and Wee Nam Kee was somewhat empty. Been wanting to try their Cereal Prawns so this was the perfect chance.

We tried the following --

> Steamed Hainanese Yellow Chicken for 455Php

If beef has Wagyu, pork has Kurobuta, chicken has Yellow Chicken as it's premium kind. Since husband loves Hainanese chicken, he went for this dish. I must say that this chicken was indeed soft and tender and had that melt in your mouth quality! It was flavorful and juicy! Smother it with some ginger and some thick soy based sauce that's sweet, knock out! Best paired with their chicken rice that was super flavorful, urgh, party in my tummy!

Though this dish was really good, husband said that he will not buy this again since it's still chicken and there was no super difference with the ordinary ones used for Hainanese. Kinda expensive too for a small serving.

> Cereal Prawns for 450Php

Been wanting to try this dish and I'm glad I finally did! Four pieces jumbo tiger prawns, covered in this addicting cereal mix that had sweetness and right balance of saltiness it in. The prawns were perfectly cooked - succulent and juicy. I liked this so much!

> Crispy Mantou Bread with Condensed Milk for 88Php

This was listed under their appetizers but I got this for dessert LOL nothing sort of special but I liked this! Kinda reminded me of my childhood when I used to dip hot pandesal into condensed milk. This was the sosyal version of that lol The deep fried Mantou had this unique crispiness when you take a bite. Loved the warm and soft bread inside that's perfectly sweet with the milk!

Service was excellent all throughout our dinner even if the place started to get full minutes after we ordered.

The first we ate here was a year ago with close friends. I can still remember the chicken, rice and their drink. It's really good.

Ordered the personal set of hainanese chicken (steamed), crispy seafood noodles and lime juice. The juice was very refreshing. The crispy seafood noodles was warm and certainly delivered its crispy tag. The personal set was very filling. Orders were delivered in a fast manner. Our family enjoyed the meal.

Mom (Susan A) took me out to lunch to congratulate me for getting the internship I wanted. I chose to dine here because I was craving for hainanese chicken, which is exactly what I ordered. Mom and I each ordered the Personal Set (Steamed, Php 175), and ended with the Three Flavor Chocolate Truffle Buchi (Php 128).

While waiting, we mixed together the three dipping sauces: oyster sauce, garlic and ginger, and chili sauce. I prefer mine with only a little ginger though.

The set comes with a quarter serving of hainanese chicken, a cup of chicken rice, and a bowl of soup. It's a basic meal, but it's very filling and flavorful. Unless I'm with the rest of my family or with a big group, I stick to the personal set because it's already good enough for me.

The chocolate buchi is my absolute favorite -- a trio of luscious white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate inside a sesame-studded rice flour ball that's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Normally, I don't eat buchi in restaurants because I don't really like it, but this one changes the playing field completely. I love milk chocolate the most, followed by the dark chocolate. The latter doesn't have a strong bitter aftertaste which makes me appreciate it even more. I wish I could trade out the white chocolate though because it's just too sweet for me. Mom didn't like it as much as the others either.

My family and I regularly eat at the Glorietta 2 branch, and I must say that their Cereal Prawns (Php 495), Honey Crispy Squid (Php 350), and the vegetables (stir-fried in garlic or oyster sauce, Php 210 to Php 240), among others, are also on my recommended list!

I'm a fan of Chinese food and Wee Nam Kee is the closest that we have here in Manila for a Hainanese Chicken.
We ordered their Pineapple Fried Rice, Hainanese Chicken, Crispy Pork with Tofu in Black Beans and the Pork Spring Rolls Broquet (picture above). By the way, we were just 2 people for all those food. 128556
Everything was really good and very delicious especially their Hainanese Chicken. The only thing I was not that happy about was their pork, it was a bit hard to chew. It wasn't tender enough. Also was not happy that they served our appetizer, last. Why would it be called as an appetizer if you serve it last. 128078

Ovelall, it was still a good place to eat, although not again in the near future.

Today was a sad day. Dad and I were craving for some good hainanese chicken so we decided to go all the way to The Chicken Rice Shop in Harbor Square Manila (and yes, I live in the east side so this is far but this is the nearest branch na). We tagged our mom along as what food makes us happy, makes her happy. 9786

We travelled 1.5 hours just to find out that the restaurant is already closed. MY HEART BROKE INTO A GAZILLION PIECES 128557128557128557128557128557

Ever since we lived in Bangkok, we had always loved Hainanese Chicken and TCRS had the nearest taste to the original one and was the most affordable so you can understand the sadness (our you can't. But kebs).

So we decided to go to the nearest alternative, WEE NAM KEE.

Tbh, Wee Nam Kee isn't bad. Their chicken rice is good too. But it's double the price of TCRS. The pros and cons:
✔️ chicken is as good as TCRS
✖️ price of the half chicken is DOUBLE of TCRS
✔️ they have more varieties in their menu
✖️ they don't give additional soup
✔️ they have a ready condiments jars per table so you have unlimited ginger, chili, and black sauce (trust me, super lakas namin sa ginger)
✖️ price of the half chicken is DOUBLE of TCRS (yes, inulit ko because it's important)

But overall, I loved the food and the service. Let's just forget for a moment that it's a little more expensive. But what choice do I have now that TCRS is gone 128557

PS: don't order the hot chili seafood sizzling plate. It's not that good. Stick to the awesome chicken rice 128077

The bro was craving for hainanese ... The default joint was too far... Just have to content ourselves here... Had bad experience with the Ayala triangle branch before so I was skeptical & prepping for the worst

I wasn't hungry ... So went along with bros order & pick on my plate while watching him eat

Hainanese chicken was so so.... as expected ... compli soup was nice ... paired with the rice

Roast pork with mustard just tasted average .. meat was tougher here & a little dry...

Yi mee... was tasty...moist ... not bad at all... I ate a few strands ... Lol ... Bro had 2 bowls ... was really famished I can see 128541... good he's going back home to japan... Sigh & I'm working ... Bleh ....

First time i've tried it last sunday with my friends. We got hainese set each, all of us have chosen the roasted chicken. I loved it, better than the first hainanese chicken i've tried at sentosa shangrila. Rice is really flavorful and the chicken is superb, i love their sauces too! And let's not forget the soup.. We also got cereal prawns, which won my heart too! Okayy so to cut the story short i love everything we've tried. I'll be back with the boyfie for a date, that's for sure!

I'm craving for Hainanese chicken for som time, but too bad, my friend who was with me for lunch that day is not a fan of it :( so instead of ordering it's best yellow chicken or the regular white chicken solo set, i chose the noodle ;)

Yes, curry noodle it is! You can choose the soy chicken or white chicken as its topping ;) the taste is so Singapore haha ;) I like it! I rarely drink the soup if i order noodle (no exception for that) but this time I enjoyed it ;) Singaporean curry is not like the Indian which the spice will go through your nose, for the Singaporean curry, it's like the combination of laksa and curry (Wah... What a weird description, sorry, but it really taste good)

My friend ordered broccoli beef rice (she didn't share her food, and not being close enough, i didnt attempt to ask for small slice to taste haha) based on her facial expression and speed of eating, i guess the food is good hehe ;)

For the drinks, the milo dinosaur is mine, but i'm not satisfied with it ;( when it was served, it was just partially cold ;( normally when we made cold drinks, we will use hot water (practically 1/4 or 1/3) to melt the milk powder and sugar, then we will add iced water and ice so it can be chilled, the resto falied in that part :( Am I just being much maarte? Hmmm...

My friend ordered lime cucumber juice, and again, i don't know how it tastes, sorry ;)

I will surely return even alone to order the yellow chicken (bitin pa rin kasi eh) hahaha

My first time in Serendra and hoomans brought me in Wee Nam Kee. Kept hearing big H wanting Sambal Kangkong or Squid and Salted Fish Fried Rice. He's saying they're his favorite.

Hooman told me that there's a cat here all the time. That I'm not allowed to chase it. He asked the staff about the cat and they told him they don't see it anymore. 128054

This is my dad's favorite place for dinner every time we go The Fort. We always get their Roasted Chicken, Barbecued Pork (Pork Asado), Sweet and Sour Pork, Wee Nam Kee Fried Rice, and Hong Kong Fried Noodles.

ROASTED CHICKEN
This will always be my favorite dish from WNK! The chicken is super tender, and it goes really really well with the cucumber and sweet sauce!

BARBECUED PORK
I'm not really fond of eating "asado" so it would be unfair to say that I didn't like it. This is my brother and mommy's favorite from WNK and they always say that it is really juicy and tender and yummy.

SWEET AND SOUR PORK
I loved all sweet and sour pork I've tasted. Hahaha!

WEE NAM KEE FRIED RICE
This tastes like Yang Zhou Rice except it has more shrimp! Hurrah for that! Hahaha

HONG KONG FRIED NOODLES
From the streets to a restaurant. It tastes nothing like the street HK fried noodles, at all. It's like pancit canton with thinner noodles and has beam sprouts.

Very very good food. Very very satiating. Very very happy customer, ALWAYS. 128077128077128077
