We were on a coffee mission and as we were stuck in weekday lunch time traffic, we frantically searched for their food menu. We felt relieved to see photos of sandwiches and pasta dishes in different review apps and social media accounts.

We were quite disappointed to find just Adobo sandwiches and desserts on display. Their pasta was not delivered yet according to the barista/cashier. We informed her that we'll have lunch somewhere else first.

Since I had a so so lunch, I was really looking forward to dessert. I had a half order of the Milk Chocolate S'mores. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to finish the bigger portion as we were all ordering drinks and desserts. The marshmallow was a bit tough to chew but the chocolate pieces were so addicting. They weren't too sweet and I loved the crunch.

Their bestseller was the Dirty Chai but I didn't feel like having coffee and tea. I'm not a coffee drinker and I prefer sweet chocolatey coffee so I went for the Iced Mocha. Coffee flavor wasn't strong nor bitter and the chocolate flavor was just right.

The orders of the rest of the gang
🔹Cappuccino - strong bitter taste. I think my cousin didn't add sugar
🔹Flat White - better than the Cappuccino but still not my thing
🔹Chocolate Milkshake - it looked tempting and our friend downed it in no time
🔹Choco Brownie - rich chocolate flavor
🔹Revel Bar - not a fan of oats but the bite I had had a lot of chocolate so I was fine

We were pleasantly surprised at the presentation of the Revel Bar and Choco Brownie. We weren't expecting that considering how simply they were displayed. It really leveled up the bars and made it well worth the price tag. I wish they didn't use chipped plates though.

I can see myself hanging out here but I would definitely bring a jacket. I'm going back for the Milk Chocolate S'mores and maybe grab a milkshake as well.

*guard wouldn't let us park in front so we searched along pearl drive for an alternative. OA parking fee of P85 for about 2 and a half hours

It's been around awhile but first time to visit. Unfortunately the only thing going for it is the spacious interiors and that it's not crowded like the nearby Starbucks. Coffee (long black) was just okay--not bad but not special either. I had their Nutella dessert--didn't taste like Nutella (more like Milo) and it was tougher than cardboard. Then service was also bad. Turned out they forgot to work my order. I had been waiting for a while before I went up to the counter to remind them of my order. No apologies, even if a faint one. So there you go. Not going to be first on my first if I have to get coffee around this area.

Count down before its new branch at dela costa (i just cannot wait!) opens, i am eager to go here to once again feel the goodness of its ambiance! It's just right fir a Saturday afternoon caffeine fix-- and just right to sit down with your laptop on and finish some work -- work from where's marcel it is!

And for those planning to use their internet, forget it if there's a lot of customer-- good thing i brought my pocket wifi enough to send a powerpoint. Well, you can try to guess what i got here.

128204128525 dirty chai latte @190php
Yes, still cannot get enough of this! Chai and coffee combined. I just forgot they do not serve it in cup if you order the largest size-- i ended up drinking in their to go cup.

128204 butterscotch @55php
I love the whole pecan nut garnish when i saw it in the display, was kinda disappointed to see it finely chopped when it was served to me. But thanks for drizzling it with chocolate syrup and sprinkling it with confectionary sugar. It tastes sweet and a little gooey in the mouth. Very course texture. The white chocolate on top made it more sweet--not really recommending it.

I just noticed that they use two round tables sa may couch. It's weird having two tables infront of you. Lol.

Yes, do visit them this Monday at their HV dela costa branch and avail a BOGO coffee (at selected times) i only remember 5-8pm. 128526

Pearl Drive was my place to be back in college because my alma mater is located there. I’d frequent a few establishments that offer pocket friendly dishes and I would occasionally splurge on a meal or two when I feel like I deserve it after a gruelling long exam. Fast forward to present, I would still find myself being a stingy foodie. But I wouldn’t scrimp on a cup of coffee especially if it receives a lot a good reviews. And that’s how I found myself in front of Where’s Marcel.

Hello, Where’s Marcel?

Why is everyone looking for Marcel? And more importantly, who is Marcel?

Well, for those curious, the coffee shop is named after Marcel Ruggieri, a coffee enthusiast who often wanders off to Costa Rica and Columbia, two popular coffee regions to look for the perfect beans. It takes pride in being a strong supporter of local businesses and engage in direct trading with farmers. The crop-to-cup concept has developed Where’s Marcel as an establishment that is more community-based. And this Melbourne born shop decided to have Manila as its first location offshore.

Aside from its expansive coffee menu, it also offers a bunch of savory dishes such as sandwiches and pasta. But since I planned to have dinner elsewhere, I settled with one Revel Bar (PHP55) and a cup of Marcel’s Dirty Chai (PHP170, 12 oz).

The place was pretty empty on a Saturday night so it was a perfect place to hangout and catch up with friends. The place also offers WI-FI so this place could also be a nice spot to do those term papers.

First served was the revel bar and it was delectable.

The oatmeal gave the snack a lovely chewy taste and the melted chocolate chips made the bar sweet yet not overwhelming. For PHP55, it was a pretty good find.

I also enjoyed my cup of Marcel’s Dirty Chai which had a nice blend of espresso, tea and cinnamon. The cinnamon taste was evident but not too strong as I still got to appreciate the taste of espresso and chai. The aroma though was more chai than coffee.

If you are not fond of strong coffee, dirty chai would be a great option for you
I wasn’t able to finish my drink as a medium cup was a bit too much for one sitting. I then remembered that the barista mentioned that he could transfer any leftover drink to Where’s Marcel’s charming to go cup. Yay!

Overall, it was a pleasant visit and I would love to come back and try its savory dishes.

P.S. They are opening their Makati branch on October 24 and are giving away free coffee on selected time slots! Check their Instagram page for details! 10084

After that hell of a traffic last Wednesday (Sept 13), I made sure to head earlier to Ortigas today since I'm expected traffic to be extra bad because yesterday's payday (for most) and today's a Friday so yikes. Another reason to be extra earlier is to be able to swing by this cafe near the building.

Good to now that they're open as early as 7am plus they have WiFi (you just need to register). I tried their Dirty Chai (₱170 for a 12 Oz cup) and it yumeeeeee. It's a far cry from the bitter and acidic coffee that most cafés in the metro offer (cough Starbucks cough). In tagalog, this coffee is "swabe."

The place is pretty big but I don't know how crowded it can get as I was here early.

Has anyone tried their desserts?

Where's Marcel???

Yes you will find him at The Pearl Place, Pearl Drive, Ortigas, Pasig City128514128514128514

My lunchmate and looloo friend Sandra Y and I got to visit this spacious and modern-looking coffee shop for lunch, but unfortunately theyre delivery for pasta and sandwich is by 4pm so we decided to have our lunch at army navy and will return for dessert and coffee nalang.

For drinks, I had matcha tai latte (Php150, 8oz) while my friends had Marcel's Dirty Chai and We ordered a slice of butterscotch (Php55.00) for dessert. I love how my matcha tai latte creaminess was presented, topped with whipped cream. My friends loved her drink as well.

We had an amazing time at Where's Marcel? The staff was really accommodating, the ambiance is impressive and the prices are reasonable.

No plans for lunch but I quickly remembered this place. And happened to read reviews in looloo128522 coffee & pasta for lunch is something in my mind today. Yna N quickly agreed128522

Upon entering, we were assisted quickly by the barista. The place has very pleasant ambiance plus the coffee aroma is all over (love it!). There are students dining when we arrived (as it is near UA&P). However, pasta and sandwiches are not available when we arrived. So we came back for coffee and dessert.

For my coffee I had their best seller (as suggested by the barista), its called Marcel's Dirty Chai (12oz for P170). Cup is quite big. Creamy coffee, it has a distinct chai taste and cinnamon aroma. I love the blend though not that strong. This is one of a kind coffee that I tasted.

For dessert, i shared butterscotch with Yna N. Its only P55. Its kinda sweet, yet its good and enticing texture while you chew128523

Superb coffee experience! Would definitely try other specialty coffee in their menu.9749128077🏼

Ambience is great. There are a variety of table settings (couch, 4-legged tables, bar stools, etc.) depending on what you're here to do, whether it's working, catching up with friends, or introvert-time-ing with a novel.

We got:

- bulletproof coffee - i guess it's good experience if you've always wanted to try. My version at home (bag of beans hazelnut + grass fed butter) tastes better though!
- marcel's dirty chai - has the subtle fragrant chai taste without being overbearing (like coffee bean and tea leaf's)
- carbonara. The best. Definitely get this. Best carbonara for 200 php - didn't scrimp on the cheese or the beef, it's like an oil and beef based carbonara instead of white cream.
- italian sandwich - lugi

Pretty expensive - a drink and snack (i don't consider the offerings to qualify for a meal) will set you back ~400php.

Also, the bulletproof coffee doesn't really fit... No self-respecting paleo person can eat anything here!

P.s. We were here on a holiday. There's parking but might be troublesome on a weekday.

On several occasions i have been here, no sightings of Marcel (lol pokemon lang?!) i have heard the last time Marcel was here was just last May. It will take time (maybe a year or two?) before he visits again.

So i am recommending this to chai lovers. They got three chais:

Dirty chai is their coffee based chai
Sticky chai is their original chai
Spicy chai is their cinnamon spiced chai.

All good for me. 128525

At land. Air. Or sea. I cant find Marcel here.--- cause he is at Australia. Lol.

And the third stop of our Holiday Foodcrawl is at one of the most raved cafés in Ortigas - that's Where's Marcel? No, I'm not asking you and I don't want to ask where he is either, so I'll just sit here and enjoy my drink!

To be honest, it doesn't look like a café just by judging it from the outside. For me, it looks like a restaurant because of its vibrant ambiance. Their interiors were minimal and is actually conducive for catching up with your work emails, doing homework, or maybe for your me-time. It's really quiet and they're playing some nice set of songs that's way perfect for its warm atmosphere.

They have lots of stuff on the menu and I was undecided at first which should I try. I was really tempted to try some of their coffee drinks, but when I did some timecheck, oh shoot, it's 4pm and I can't drink coffee from 2pm onwards; or else I'll be awake till the morning alarm! Yikes!!! So I just go for the Hazelnut Iced Blend, which is one of their non-coffee iced drinks.

I'm still having that cloying feeling after having too much sweets we had since our first stop. To be honest, I'm really opting for the S'mores but I really wanted something salty, so I decided to try their Pesto pasta.

Iced Hazelnut - a pretty straightforward drink that's smooth and chocolatey.

Pesto - I shared this with Kristin A and I loved it so much! Gotta love the shrimp bits in the pasta which makes it even more interesting. I usually like my Pesto pasta either plain or with chicken, but this one's a great combo too.

The whole place has this lively and vibrant ambiance. Each corner is picture-perfect. The service has been good though I have to point out that there were only few ports in the café. So if ever you'll be working with your laptop, be sure to have it fully charged, since they have a limited number of outlets inside. They have wifi too, but it is not that strong, maybe too many active users already, I guess.

I've also tried the Chai latte and quite liked it. Will surely have this one when I get back soon!

Marcel's dirty chai latte (P180) (16oz) at first i thought this was just tea latte :O it's like cappuccino bc of the mocha flavor with a hint of chai. I found it too strong.

Latte (P155) (16oz) i liked this the most. It's also strong but i prefer the classic taste of coffee like this

Iced mocha (P180) the choco syrup in the bottom over powered the drink when not mixed. When we tried to mix it, it tasted like iced chocolate milk

V60 pourover (P160) - my cousin that's a coffee lover said it does not have any flavor to it. He said they used old beans. I tried it and it was very sour!!! 128557 i think they placed citrus in it.

I Will not come back for the coffee but will come back for the ambience.

Ambience was great. The moment you stepped in, it was interesting. Signages on the wall that asked you questions... Leather seats and assorted seats of wood and metal that made the room feel creative... good place for coming up with new ideas or nice and friendly conversation on the not-so-normal... And the latter we had, as we sipped away our hot batch brew filters... Great coffee...!

Nice little enclave in the middle of ortigas center, short walk from the DAP and next door to neighbors like Army Navy, Pins and Bricks, Jumong Korean, The Grub, Asagao, and other interesting haunts...
Perfect place to have dessert and coffee after a lunch or dinner at the neighboring places.

Although, they also offer great breakfast plates and sandwiches... But didn't get to try those...

Will definitely come back to this place

Getting to know this Australian franchise has drawn me closer in getting to taste their best selling dirty Chai which is the reason why I am blogging about it now. So who is Marcel and where is he now? .
.
.
Marcel Ruggieri first opened his branch in Melbourne then the next one in Sydney. Thanks to my #TeamKaladkarin friends (@jay_jao , @ongerz and @undercrisis ) for bringing my senses into liking this newly found café. Anyway, one more fact to consider is that Flat White coffee originally came from Australia, so if you come to try it here then you will surely taste the authentic mix. Having to taste their Dirty Chai ( coffee with chai) and Spicy Chai (for hubs) I/We will definitely go back to spend chill times and even working sessions there. The place is spacious and the staff are nice & warm. Their knowledge regarding their products will bring you closer to trying all of their drinks because they would give you various descriptions that would make coffee lovers crave for new stuff to try. The pastries and desserts are not common too, I have tried the revel bar it is not too sweet but good to be paired with coffee. So if you're looking for a spot to grab a cup coffee or just to relax, you can have it here and try to ask for Marcel; if you're lucky enough, you might get a chance to find him there 128513

Where is he?

Well, Marcel Ruggieri is back is Australia (I think. Lol.), where two of their first branches opened (The first in Melbourne then the second one in Sydney).

Anyway, ever since I heard of this place from Dennis O, Elaine O and Kristin A, I have been wanting to try this one out. The place is nice. There were a lot of people working when we came in and it was hard to find a seat for 7 people. Upon looking at the display, I wanted to order the S'mores but we just had dessert at Karen's so I opted to get the Two-Cheese Toast thingy which is kinda small for P85. Tsk. Mga limang ganito ata kaya kong ubusin. Joke. I also ordered Flat White which I regret ordering kasi when I tasted the Chai Latte, I loved it! Kainis. I was scared it might taste too dahon-y but it was not. It was more on the milky side! My Flat White was OK naman.

Onga, a plus point for the very nice baristas. Yaay. But I would probably need to come back to try the Dark Chocolate S'mores and get my own order of Chai Latte. (Para di ako nakikitim sa iba. 128532)

So where is marcel, really? He's not in the Philippines. He went to Aussie? Tama ba Kristin A?? Our third stop and my second time here. The first time i went here was last Sunday--it was closed! Huhu. Good thing pumayag sila Dennis O Elaine Oand Roland O to visit tgis place even though they have tried it already

I like the place! I love the coffee i ordered
128204128525 dirty chai latte
Let me compare Starbucks: Starbucks is just too strong. I tried the marcel's and wow. Ang sarap. They have three kinds of chai: sticky (plain and pure), spiced (cinnamon) and dirty (with coffee). This is also best seller in their coffee menu. Latte art is very good!!

Patrick V and Russel F also was their first experience. They have wifi but it was slow that time. The CR is clean and spacious. Where's marcel also serves pasta and legit sandwiches and---SMORES too bad we had too much sweets that afternoon at karen's i would definitely include this in my good cafe list and will be back ulit. 128541128513128540

Where's Marcel? is a newly opened coffee shop located in The Pearl Place, Ortigas (the Robinson's condo beside UA&P). I'm guessing they are still trying to get the hang of the operations as service was quite slow when I visited, but the staff was very warm and accommodating so that even things out.

I ordered Marcel's Dirty Chai which is a very interesting spin on your usual cup of joe, I highly recommend this one. Loved the store's wide space and relaxing ambience too. Very conducive for group meetings and even solo study sessions!

I was going to a client in Ortigas first thing one Wednesday morning last May. I was already thinking of going there early as I didn't want to get caught in EDSA gridlock and jack up my Uber fare. The night before I had dinner and coffee with Dennis O. and Elaine O., and when they found our where I was going the next day they recommended this place. Buti na lang!

I think I had a cappuccino (not a flat white, hahaha) in a very large cup, and a french toast roll-up because I hadn't had brekky. Both were great, though I found the french toast a tad pricey.

They have a wide selection of coffee and brewing methods, which is heaven for coffee enthusiasts. But their food is still limited to pasta and french toasts, so this might not be the best place to have a hearty lunch. Pwede na pang-after meal cuppa and dessert.

Place is very spacious, I think they can still put in more tables without cramping their style :D. Lots of people coming in to work in silence, and though a couple of groups were working together a few tables away, they weren't disturbing me. It's like the vibe in Toby's Estate over at Cyberscape Beta, but it's a bit more dim and more peaceful, I guess. If I was working in the area I would love to go offline and stay there to work in peace. Next time I'm having a meeting in the immediate area, I'll definitely go back to start my day right.
