Our batch reunion finally pushed through! Yay! 127881 It's been more than a year since we started work yet it's our first dinner together after hired date. Yep, that's how busy we are 128517 I almost didn't show up because of too much work (again) but good thing I managed to sneak out 128527

For this particular visit, almost everything was not available!! I wanted the Menchi Katsu set while my friend already set eyes on the Seafood Katsu set. To our dismay, both were unavailable 128532 I can easily guess why though. The place was jam packed even at 9 pm on a Thursday night! It was the only restaurant that had a line 128563

Anyway, most of us got the | Hire Katsu Set [P385 for 100g • P430 for 150g] and | Jumbo Prawn Set [P485]. Everything in the menu comes with unlimited Japanese rice (your choice of white or brown rice with no extra charge!), miso soup, cabbage, Japanese pickles and fruits. I like the fact that they let their customers enjoy creating their own dipping sauce 128079🏻

What can I say? Even if I had dined in Yabu several times in the past, I will never get tired of it. Everything was fried perfectly. You get that nice crisp edges and juiciness from the inside without feeling like you're drinking oil. Yes, admittedly the price tag can be a bit high for some but it's worth the indulgence. Well, for me at least 128069

Will I be back? Definitely.

You consider yourself a foodie but you haven't eaten in Yabu? Says my boss who treated me for lunch a few days ago 128517 Shots fired! I felt a little embarrassed cause I admit i'm not a Katsu fanatic. I like them at times but I don't get obsessed with Katsudons.

We went to Glorietta to spend at Yabu: House of Katsu for Lunch. I remember when the Katsu Craze came in the Philippines, almost everyone I know were literally lining up for Yabu! I can say it's the most popular in the country. They already have 10 branches in the Philippines.

Yabu's Katsu is made of Premium Pork. It's perfectly cooked thus explains the right amount of tenderness. Freshly made and best eaten when served!

For lunch I tried the ROSU (PORK LOIN) Set at 90grams for P345. It's. 3/4 inch thick and juicy premium pork cutlet with a trimming of fat. Served with unlimited Japanese Rice, Miso Soup, Japanese Pickles, Cabbage with your choice of dressing and a bowl of fruit.

I find it cheap for the quality and the quantity of cabbages and miso soup I can eat haha. I love miso soup and parati akong bitin when I eat at Japanese restaurants cause I can order only one bec of the price. I love the unli cabbage which tastes so good when mixed with Roasted Japanese Mayo! Yum! It tastes so authentic and premium.
You don't have to take control of the amount you add cause it's unlimited! Hehe!
For the Katsudon, I like how tender the meat is but I didn't like the texture of the breadcrumbs which I find to dry but the it's good that it's compact and doesn't fall off easily. It's too compact that I feel like I have to chew it so much to grind the meat on my mouth.

I like the experience of having to create my own sauce and grind the sesame seeds using the tiny pestle. It makes waiting bearable and fun! It's recommended to add the special katsu sauce and mix it with the sesame seeds to achieve the perfect sauce for your katsu.

For P345 this is sulit and super nakakabusog. No drinks were included btw. It was served hot.

128205I like the Katsu of Tonkatsu by Terazawa better than Yabu's for the reason that the Katsu is bigger, chunkier and juicier. Not sure if I made the wrong choice of ordering their most basic set.

Will I come back? Maybe yes in the future. I like it but didn't love it. It's not really something I would crave for. Maybe I have to try others on their menu to fully appreciate what the hype is all about.

From the first time I dined in this restaurant up until this day I still love it the same. Name all the katsu resto that pops up in the Metro and still nothing can beat Yabu.

Food - 127857127857127857127857127857

I ordered my forever favorite, Katsudon and it didn't fail me. It has that distinct katsudon sauce and lots of onion. I liked this version cause it does not dry out quickly and the meat is tender and juicy even if it's leaner than Rosu. The unli cabbage will make you think you're eating healthy even if you put lots of Goma on it. 128514

Price - 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑

I must say the price is just right cause you'll get to enjoy authentic Japanese taste and unli rice, cabbage, miso, fruits, and tea for approx 400 pesos plus service charge. Oh well they do deserve the service charge cause you know how we, Pinoys love anything that is unli so you can just imagine how they manage to give you cabbage at the same time address someone who's asking for brown rice.

Ambiance - 🖐🏼🖐🏼🖐🏼🖐🏼

The place is quite noisy since it's almost Christmas and everyone's having their get together, too much catching up is going on so don't expect a chill night out in this place even if it is a Japanese resto.

This resto is perfect for dates or family gathering. Just make sure you'll get to this place a little early cause most people are willing to wait and I don't think they accept reservation during their peek hours.

Tip: you can choose between white rice or brown rice 127834

I know, I know. 4th review already. Like what I told you before, the one and only branch for me. But congratulations self cause you finally overcome the urge to have a katsu set and finally after 917283456 years, you have finally tried their Katsu burger.

Okay, so the Hire Katsu burger is the bomb!! I knew it was worth the wait and definitely worth the try. So it's a 100 grams Hire Katsu is a pork cutlet fillet with lesser fat or oil than the Rosu. It's thick and gorgeous. Fried just right as i/ soft and tender on the inside while crunchy on the outside. It has some cabbage and japanese pickles too. This is served on two beautifully toasted and buttery brioche buns that are sweet complementing the katsu perfectly. Served with tonkatsu sauce that you can further drizzle after every bite. 10084️And of course between a salad and fries, you cannot say no to their Furukake fries. Why?? Because it's of thick potato cuts seasoned well that makes it not oily nor too salty plus a dip that's more used for those salmon maki I love. It's a mixture of japanese mayo and something else that adds an extra touch to this already loving burger. All this for only Php 360!! I am very happy to have a bite of this burger cause I'm not so sure if this is already a staple on their menu. This one sure made me full!!

Even during lunch time, the place can be jammed which is why we are happy that Genki, our server during that time was very kind and generous with all our request. Very commendable!

Do i need to say anything more? Nah, I'm done cause I'm a regular here and I only have nice things to say.

It's been awhile since the last time I’ve been Yabu, so when I craved for katsu, I knew it was time to visit my favorite katsu restaurant.

We went here on a Sunday lunch, and we arrived at around 11:30AM. The restaurant is exactly the same, which means that the restaurant is well managed and it’s as if it’s newly opened. We were led to the couch and was given the menu. Just when I thought that everything is just the way it was, the element of surprise came to me as soon as I opened their menu. Yes, they just made it harder to choose from the variety of katsu offerings they added to their existing ones, such as the tamago, the katsu pairs and katsu burgers.

I was torn between having the katsu pairs and ordering the usual dishes, since I really wanted to have a little bit of everything. But then I came to my senses and decided to order the one that I missed the most:  the hire katsu 180g. My boyfriend on the other hand had the hire katsu burger set.

Shortly after ordering, we were given a comment card to fill out. It lets you rate the restaurant’s food quality, ambiance, and service. There is also the part where they’d like to hear about what impressed you, and areas they need to improve on.
After about 15-20 minutes, our orders were served. The katsu burger came first, followed by my hire katsu. I can't wait to perform the Yabu ritual! Time to dig in!

Hire Katsu Burger Set P380
The katsu burger is served with either the chicken salad or the fries on the side. My boyfriend chose the former. It was a bowl of shredded vegetables with crispy wanton strings and mustard vinaigrette with a hint of wasabi. The katsu burger was good. The hire “patty” was juicy, and the proportion of it with the bun was big enough.

Hire Katsu 180g
The hire katsu was good. It was my typical, tender pork without the fat, just how I like it, except for one thing: it was falling apart. I have been to Yabu numerous times and I just know that the breading of their katsu should not break from the meat once you lift it off the plate.

I didn’t complain about it, but it is precisely what I wrote on their comment sheet. Upon billing out, the manger Xyleene asked for the comment sheet and read about my comment. She asked me what my order was, and asked me to elaborate on my concern. After this, she informed me that she will be talking with the kitchen manager to confirm the case, and when she returned, she insisted on replacing my katsu. I laughed and declined, saying that I already finished the meal anyway, and she mentioned that she can give it to me for take-out. It was a good gesture, but I declined, not because I was mad, but just because it wasn’t really a big deal for me.

Yabu once again proved why they are one of the strongest brands in the industry. If it’s not for the food, or for the ambiance, then it has to be their top-notch customer service, their commitment to providing customers the ultimate satisfaction on every visit. This is exactly how you keep your customers loyal. You've done it again, Yabu.

Its been awhile since I visited Yabu. After they've launched the katsu craze in manila, almost every now and then there is a new Japan katsu franchise opening that I've lost track of them. Months ago I saw a voucher promo in dealgrocer for Yabu and I immediately grab the deal since I really missed their Katsu.

I love this branch in glorietta 5 since this part of glorietta is isolated and much less crowded. Upon arriving we were inmediately given table since the place wasn't packed on a weekday. I got myself their new Katsu Pairing Hire+Tori Menchi. It wasn't bad priced at 390PHP. The Hire katsu is still one of the best katsu among the katsu I've tried. The juicy flavor of the meat was just something that I really missed. For the tori menchi this is my first to try it out. It was like a cordon bleu. Minced chicken stuffed with ham and cheese. It was oozing with cheese flavor and was very good but I still preffer the texture I get when I chew the hire katsu. The set also came with unli rice, salad, miso soup and fruits. I love that brown rice is offered as an option. I also love how the fruits they serve were sweet watermelon and pineapple. Unlike in other place were the fruits are flavorless.

The best part of my visit was when I went to the washroom and was surprised that some of the |ooloo review posted on the wall hahaha. 128514128514128514

Overall Yabu you started the craze and you are indeed one of the best. 128522128077

I have always loved Yabu, and for some reason maybe because Makati has been my second home ever since, this is the only branch I have tried ever.

I missed my Tori Menchi so much that I decided to ditch the Katsu burger again. Because seriously, who can resist that cheese with ham in thick layers of pork which is gooey and cooked on the inside but crunchy on the outside. Plus the refillable cabbage and fruits and rice, I for one have fallen for its charms again. I had brown rice this time though and I'm a little disappointed because even japanese brown rice are sticky and has small grains but theirs is a little more starchy and not sticky at all. Mozzarella sticks is pure love as always. But you have to consume it while its hot cause it eventually loses that stretchy feels. But I have always love their dip. It's so tasty and different with a little spice. There's this chicken salad too which is a big serving of salad with less greens but with that coleslaw like of feeling.

Great service on a Friday evening. Though there were lines already at 6pm, so be there a little earlier cause this place is usually jammed.

Another great meal at Yabu who always satisfy my hunger and katsu craving. When you're looking for a complete meal and wish to satisfy that big hunger of yours, this is the place to be.

After months of my last visit, I have come to my favorite katsu place after Civil War! We went last Friday and as expected, long lines are present. We were 14 in line, but luckily we only had to wait for just 30 minutes which surprisingly pass by fast. They were efficient with the long lines and even greet in smile when all the time.

Been craving for japanese curry for a while so I decided to have their Menchi Curry beause menchi is love 10084️ Because seriously, who can go wrong with cheese? Hihi. My sister had tori mechi which is your pork cutlet with ham and cheese. Ooozing cheese! Soooo great! We also had lemonade for some refreshing taste. They were fast with our orders and very attentive for refills. Japanese rice is as sticky as it should be. Properly fried katsu and in my case with the right curry spiciness. Really love!!

I have always been a katsu fan and have always visited and trusted this branch ever since. They have a new katsu pairing offering though which I will try next time! Need to say more, definitely the katsu to satisfy your cravings!

Yabu is my kiddos fave. Our usual order: curry rosu katsu, original rosu katsudon, rosu katsu 180g. They never order from the kid's menu.
My lil daughter is such a foodie. She loves the pickes and miso soup and would always ask for a refill, while my son would sometimes ask for a little curry from my katsu.
Always a good dining experience. I noticed though that service deteriorated from the last time. The manager/sup ( I supposed he is the manager, only guy wearing a diff uniform, G5 branch) is just there hanging out. If u request something from him, he'll delegate it to a server even if it was the simplest request. Too hard to get the attention of the servers too. They used to always respond with, "my pleasure" for every request, but I never heard it this time. Overall, Dining at Yabu is always sulit as I am assured my kids will eat well.

One request though: Hope they consider lowering their tables or making chairs higher. I always have strained shoulder after eating at yabu cos of high table or maybe bec most are served in bowls. Im not a short person. :) Just saying. Im not sure if im the only one with the same comment :)

Smile, KATSU.. Smile!!! :)

A friend who just got promoted last year recently hosted a dinner with two more of our best buddies few weeks ago. The actual plan was in T.G.I. Friday’s but we immediately changed our minds when Yabu came into the conversation. So there we go…

I believe the two of us got the Chicken Katsu while the two got their plates of Hire and Rosu. As always, Chicken katsu is my usual choice whenever I dine here (except for the first time when I tried the Seafood Katsu).

Food is always good! Place is neat and clean! Service is more than excellent! If you'd ask me, this visit deserves a perfect rating of 5... So there we go...

My friend came home in PH for a vacation, and we met for dinner in Makati. I suggested that we eat in Yabu at Glorietta 5. The order took a bit long to be served, but the menchi katsu was good as usual.

This branch of Yabu has never failed me. 128079🏻 I used to order the two small tonkatsu in red bean paste sauce but then it was removed from the menu. But that one was heaven for me. Considering the right serving with the red bean paste that's sweet and light. I have tried their Chicken Katsu curry and they would ask you on your preferred level of spice. My go-to order nowadays is between the Tori Menchi or the Menchi katsu who has never failed in promising that cheesy goodness. The refillable watermelon is also my favorite thing about Yabu. Unlike other katsu shop whose fruits are very limited. And now that their mozzarella cheese sticks are back, I am seriously happy!! Their dip makes their version special. I usually prefer marinara on mozzarella but theirs is perfect. It's similar with a caesar salad dressing but I think with japanese mayo with it. Yabu is one of my go-to restaurants. And I always recommend this for Japanese lovers alike. Plus the cabbage and sesame dressing lovers too. 128521

Yabu will always be the original and best katsu place for me.

This is going to be a short review since I think I've reviewed this restaurant n times already at different locations. 128077🏼

Ordered our usual 120g cream dory and chicken katsu sets.

Then I saw this cute macho guy eating alone, munching on his order of mozzarella katsu sticks. Edi nainggit ako nag order din ako. Not bad for 225 bucks! Sulit and the cheese was oozing with every bite. 128557128557128557🧀🧀🧀🧀

Our katsu was well-prepared as usual.

I highly commend our server, Kim. I love her! I think she gave me like a quarter of a watermelon with the many times that she passed by if I wanted more fruit. 127817127817127817 I even asked if they had wooden chopsticks since apparently they already use plastic ones. She even went out of her way to check the depths of their office to look for one! Talk about great customer service! Pero for real, she must have given me about 14 slices of watermelon. I'm not kidding! She always refilled my plate with four pieces every single time. So syempre hindi ako hihindi because after all, it's 99% water! 128166

This visit just cemented Yabu to my best katsu place in the Metro. 128077🏼

Because of Kim's excellent service, I even left a tip which is double than my usual because I was so satisfied with her service. Ang yaman ko. 🙃🙃🙃 lol but kidding aside, I seriously believe that people like her deserve to be given credit for striving to be the best at their jobs. I ended up looking for the manager on duty and told her that Kim was a very good server. I also left a note at the back of our receipt, professing my love for Kim and Yabu. I'm not joking! 128514

At the end of a long and tiring day, it really is something to be given excellent customer service. It's the driving force behind the success of every establishment.

Adios! 128111

Ps: I was put in such a good mood because of Kim's service that despite my colds, I had the strength to go shopping and just bought my THIRD Star Wars shirt from Uniqlo. They have new designs!!!!!! Ok maybe I'm just justifying my geekiness. I already have tickets for the December 17 premier! IMAX, baby!! 128557128557128557

It's Japanesse again!!! 128149

Hello TONKATSU! 128516
I miss this food!
Lol, it's still my 2nd time though hahaha. 128514

It's lunch time! 128513 me & my friends dine here, it was 4 of us. & we just ordered 3 kinds of tonkatsu & share it.
So what we ordered was, pork tonkatsu, ham&cheese tonkatsu & chicken tonkatsu! & we just added an extra rice w/side dish. 128513 the food was very very good, esp their orginally pork tonkatsu. :)

They also have their unique sauce (don't know what it's called) but still... with sesame seed & it comes with a mortar & pestle(?) For you to grind it & mix it with their sauce. I'ts really yummy to put sauce on your tonkatsu! Haha. & also they serve unli rice & refills haha! Great! 128514128514

But! The service of yabu is not that good because the waiters & staff were not accomodating at ALL! zzzz when you want to refill something they just won't accomodate you right away tsk tsk. Very bad service & their serving is very very slow haha. But still Good Food though!! You should try it!! Hoping soon they improve their service. 1280779996128541

But seriously, their curry is good! Didn't dare to add heat coz I wanted to taste the whole dish in its rawest form. Heavy for dinner but hey, it was a good one to cap the day off. 128523
