Agedashi Tofu
It's basically tofu with the famous, crunchy panko coating. This was deliciously expensive!

Chicken Katsu
It's a slightly healthier and more affordable option than pork (hire or rosu) but the pork does taste amazing with a little bit of fat.

Lychee and Peach Iced Tea
I like that the refillable glass was thin enough to control my pacing. The beverage was pretty good but made me stick to one rice only.

Menchi Katsu
Liking this dish attracts different feedback. It's good but some don't want their cheese mixed with meat. Some do, such as myself, but it turned out to be pretty heavy. Yet, even that characteristic can be super for some... such as myself.

Mozzarella Katsu Sticks
These were super! The cheese put up a fight after every bite, not letting go of the katsu like it had a life that depended on it, if that makes any sense. I truly enjoyed their flavor since they weren't too salty.

Service
Thanks to JM for getting all our orders right! She also did well with the refills.

Tips
For set meals, white rice also comes in brown, which is healthier but just as heavy IMO.

If you get Katsu Curry, you might not need to crush your sesame seeds and mix with Tonkatsu Sauce anymore. But if you're adventurous, ignore me completely! 128522

The sauce container for the cabbage is pretty difficult since it serves you by the drop. I sometimes take the cover off to hasten the sloth but it can get messy and increase wastage. Get only what you need and wipe it up a bit after closing it again. Or ignore me completely because the management might not like this practice. 128522

The food was great as usual but, sadly, the service has diminished. We had lunch here on a very busy day (Mother's Day), in high hopes that service will still be consistent, but nope. There was a steady stream of diners, and it was chaotic! Waiters were bumping into our chairs and into each other. I understand that the place was full -- busy might even be an understatement. But I guess I was just hoping they would somehow maintain the same service they were known for. I was disappointed. The Vanilla Lava Cake took a long time to be served. Waiters were confused and running around in chaos, constantly forgetting requests. I was disappointed and just wanted to get out of the place ASAP.

Super love their cabbage side dish. Would still go here even if they have nothing but cabbage128517 First time to try their vanilla lava cake. The combination of vanilla ice cream, caramel syrup and chocolate base is perfect.

The parentals visited us over the weekend as it was me and my sister's birthdays (11 &13th). Decided to have dinner at Yabu as my sister was badly craving for their Rosu.

We arrived at around 6pm and we were immediately seated.

I ordered the 120g chicken and it was OK. The last time I ate at Yabu was two or three years ago so I can't remember whether I liked it before or not but I'm giving this 4 stars because of the superb service! Everyone was super friendly and they generously gave us refills. I was sooo full after! Ako na yung sumuko. 128514

Overall, it was great spending my birthday with the fam. Shoutout to the people over at Yabu SM Aura for the great service! 128076🏻

The hesitation to try Yabu was finally broken amidst the grumbling noise of our stomachs 128514. It's beside Ramen Nagi but I do not feel eating noodles today. So, I gave in to the tempting photos of the famed pork cutlets by the resto's entrance. The service crew that assisted us was welcoming for first timers like us. She even explained the difference between the Katsus on the menu. She also taught us how to create the dipping sauce. I like that there's an option for brown rice and that it's refillable. Our order was quick to be served. They are also proactive in asking if we want rice, cabbage, soup or iced tea. Now on to the Katsu. We ordered the Menchi and the Tori Menchi Katsu set. Out of the two, I did like the Tori Menchi better as it resembles my favorite Chicken Cordon Bleau. The other one was a mix of pork and beef which was too strong for my palate but it was still alright though. I was not able to finish the entire set as I am gulping on iced tea which made me full right away. The serving of cabbage was hefty as well. Overall, it was a good dining experience for both the food and the restaurant's customer service.

It's only my 3rd time at Yabu but first at this branch. The servers were so warm and all smiles so it was welcoming especially for a solo diner like me.

I ordered something I've never had before, Curry Hire. I love curry so it was a nice surprise how good it is. You can choose how spicy you want. Mild spicy is perfect for me. Argh the hire (pork) is so thick and tender! A nice contrast to the crunchy coating. So good! I love the wasabi kewpie on the cabbage; I actually had my cabbage refilled twice! Haha ang takaw! One good thing here is the refillable sides. Miso soup is good too. Always satisfied with Yabu.

Superb service!

Maureen, our food server did an excellent job. Going above and beyond!

I had the Original Kastudon Set (Rosu) and my friend had Menchi Katsu Set. I took a picture of the foods' description. Just me being lazy. 128514

We enjoyed the food we ordered. We left the restaurant happy and full.

Several weeks ago I was craving for something Japanese. So I told my dad I wanted to eat somewhere serving Japanese food. My dad then told me there is this great Japanese restaurant that serves yummy Tonkatsu sets, Donburi sets, Katsu Burgers and some other dishes. I read at one website that their dishes are prepared by their chefs who were trained by Chef Kazuya Takeda, the head of chef of Tonkatsu Takeshin, a popular tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo, Japan.

It was my first time to eat at Yabu and I'm glad that there were guides on how to make their special katsu sauce. First you have to crush the black and white sesame seeds until most of the seeds are ground. The aroma brought by the ground sesame seeds are really appetizing and sets the mood for the awesome Katsu experience. Then you pour the Katsu sauce onto the ground sesame seeds and then your done! We ordered this Tonkatsu Set- Rosu Pork Loin served with unlimited Japanese white rice, miso soup, Japanese pickles, unlimited cabbage with sesame dressing and a bowl of fruits. The pork was very soft, tasty and juicy. It was worth the price especially of the unlimited sidings! We also got this Curry Tonkatsu Set which was really good because I'm a fan of anything curry! Refreshing fruit shakes were also available but we didn't get those because I had a runny nose that time. Next time we'll eat there I'll make sure to order that.

You should definitely give this restaurant a try because its prices were reasonable for the serving of the food. Service was also great. Definitely coming back here! 10084

Yabu, I Yabu!!! 100841008410084

Yabu's take on tonkatsu is always a favorite. They have perfected the texture of the food, consistently not oily and portions measured accurately. The ingredients are fresh as I can taste every time I dine.

My most recent visit reminded me that I have not received my birthday coupon this year. 128557 Apparently Yabu is currently updating their VIP list and rewards program. I would love to know how they will top their last offer though.

My boyfriend had his staple Chicken Katsu Set with unlimited everything. We mainly come back for the unlimited everything, because who wouldn't? Their cabbage salad and Sesame dressing is always spot on!

For me, I am so happy that finally Yabu has come up with more Katsu combos! I have just ordered the best of both worlds, the Rosu and Oyster Set! Yummy is an understatement! Their oysters are so fresh and plump and sweet and delicious! I can't get enough of these babies! I love these so much, my boyfriend already know I wouldn't even dare share even a bite of it, and so he didn't ask for any. 128514

I am wishing for the day Yabu shall expand in Cebu! For now, I'll look forward to my next trip to Manila to have another go in this Japanese joint!

Ordered the original katsudon while my friend had the menchi katsu set. The servings are enormous given that they serve unlimited sides and rice. My katsudon tastes good. Love the sweet salty taste and how the egg was nicely done. However, there are parts of the pork that is a bit hard to chew. I already told this to the manager who asked us how was our experience. He was a bit surprised and told me he will tell the chef about it. As far as I know, the katsudon should be easy to bite into. I tried my friend's menchi, it was yummy! I like the creamy cheese inside.
Had no complaints about the miso soup, cabbages, and the fruits. They served us as promptly as they can. Will definitely crave for this in the future.

Mother dragon was feeling a bit generous that day and gave us money so we can have a date. Good timing, ma! Because we were already planning to watch Civil War that weekend! Hehe

We had brunch here because every time I search under the category of "Best" nearby, Yabu always has a spot.

Aside from ramen, katsu is the only Japanese food I like. Their katsu sets are served with miso soup (that tastes so good btw), unlimited vegetable & rice, and sliced fruits.

They will assume that you know how to use chopsticks when you dine here but for those who doesn't know how (like myself hehe), you can always ask for spoon & fork.

I ordered their chicken katsu while the sissum had the ham and cheese one. What I love here is that the breading doesn't have an "umay" feeling. My sister said so too! I was debating on having the 180 g but I'm glad I settled for the 120 g because I almost could not finish it!

Their katsu's are a bit expensive. Price ranges from 300 - 500 but trust me, it's worth it!

The only dessert they have is lava cake but after finishing my katsu I felt so bloated so we didn't order that even though it looked so good in the menu. I'll definitely have that to go next time.

Now I understand why it's rated "best" in looloo hehe 10084

It has been a tradition in our department to organize a simple Christmas dinner where we share a nice meal together and exchange gifts. But since we were extra busy (and poor) this year, we decided to scrap the second one and just focused on the fattening part.

Last month, we decided to have dinner at Yabu and since it’s not exactly a new restaurant, I made sure that I order something different. I remember a post on Yabu’s Menchi Katsu Burger (PHP380) and decided to get that one.

When we arrived, the early birds already secured a long table for us. (And it was not a picnic to get one as they waited for half an hour outside as Yabu requires them to place all our orders before getting a table).

It took a while before my dish was served. I was starving to the point of me feeling my cheekbones becoming more prominent and my tummy digesting my tummy. And to distract myself from the World War III happening inside my body, I decided to read the comic strip on the wall which was quite funny. (Katsu solves family feuds.)

And finally, my Menchi Katsu Burger arrived.

Menchi Katsu Burger is described by Yabu as “made with superior ground beef and pork, stuffed with creamy cheese, topped with shredded cabbage, shio leaves, Japanese pickles, spicy aioli and caramelized onion jam in a toasted brioche bun.” Doesn’t it sound so delectable? It also comes with Furikake French Fries with Japanese seasonings!

My officemates were curious about the burger and asked me if it was yummy after my first bite. I replied, “It’s okay. Nothing special.” Until it hit me… It was actually more than okay. It was scrumptious!

“Where were you when I still did not have these excess fats on my thighs and everywhere else?” That was the first question that came to mind when I had my second bite off my Menchi Katsu Burger. (Yep, not first. SECOND.)

The crunchy breading of the katsu was a perfect contrast to then soft bun. The tender and juicy patty with oozing cheese was addicting! I loved it with the veggies, especially the crisp shredded cabbage.

I want more!!! (Service sucks big time though!)

This is the first time I hated Yabu because of the servers. When we were seated, first thing the receptionist told me was she'll get us a server. We waited 10 minutes.. No one attended to us. Then she passed by and we called her, she said right away "I'll get you a server". Like she isn't willing to assist? She didn't even asked what we needed. Is that what she can say all the time?!! I understand that she is a receptionist but what is it just to ask how she can help us. Then this Brian (server) came along so we called his attention and told him that we'd like to order. He signalled "wait" and we thought it would be quick but then I saw him attending to other guest when in fact we called him first. Like WTH????? We waited another 5 minutes for someone to take our orders. Brrrrrrr...... Orders came after 30 minutes.

And by the way, I'm writing this while waiting for my order just to let go of my frustations!!!!!!! Sarap sigawan, pero kelangan magtimpi. 9996🏼️
