It was last Tuesday when my cousins and I decided to have dinner at Yabu's branch located in U.P. Town Center. This branch is quite new given that it just opened this year and located at the extended wing of the Ayala mall.

The restaurant's located outdoor, surrounded by trees and nice exterior lights that give it a more welcoming and pretty vibe most especially at night.

Given its not so big space, the restaurant has a waiting line outside for those who can't be accommodate initially. After waiting for like 10 minutes, we went inside and got a place near the entrance area. Like the usual interiors of other Yabu restaurants, the decors were mostly made of simple and straightforward wood paired with mostly yellow ceiling decors that give it light and casual vibes.

From their very detailed menu, you'll see a lot of choices from the finest meat, chicken, seafood for their main katsu sets. Aside from these sets, they have other options including mozzarella sticks, salad, katsudon, ice creams, etc.

So for my order, I shared a Premium Tonkatsu Set with my brother that came with unlimited Japanese or brown rice, miso soup, Japanese pickles, cabbage that came with dressing and a bowl of fruits including watermelon and pineapple. We got the Rosu Porkloin set at 120 grams. This one's their premium 3/4 inch thick pork loin that came with a trimming of fat.

The 120 grams serving can be shared by 2 people if you're not that hungry. It was really tender, juicy and delicious but I wasn't able to taste the fat that much. Nevertheless, the whole dish was so affordable given its price of 380php.

I loved the Japanese rice a lot given its thickness, whiteness and softness. The miso soup, when served hot, is best eaten. My most favorite is their cabbage! When it's coldly served, it's best to drizzle the Goma and Wasabi sauces altogether and enjoy how tasty and delicious the simple salad is. After feeling so full, you'll definitely enjoy the fresh and sweet serving of the pineapples and watermelons. Remember, you can ask for the items again and again until you finally feel fulfilled.

Given that I shared the porkloin with my brother, I discovered that for a refillable set, it will cost you 150php. Meaning, you can order a tonkatsu set and share the meat for as long as you order a refillable set wherein the rice, soup, cabbage and fruits are unlimited in serving too.

As always, Yabu was a good choice because we were all happily full after dinner that day.

I have been craving for Yabu since it opened in UPTC, which was 15 mins away from work. Today, I just really wanted to eat there. I was supposed to go with a friend but she couldn't get out early while I had a 1pm meeting. So I went ahead and ate there alone and I regret nothing!!!

Service was not too long, nothing to complain about. Staff were friendly. I arrived right before lunch break so I didn't have to wait. I ordered Rosu 80g. The thing about Yabu is it's consistent in every branch I've been to (The Block, Megamall, UPTC).

A plus for the UPTC branch is the ambiance. Since it is "outdoors", lots of natural light fill the restaurant. I don't know, but makes the dining experience better.

Only complaint about this branch: the flies. :( But I'd definitely come back to Yabu. Yabu is Life.128514
