I was too early in my next meeting at Legazpi Makati. And I decided to go to Yardstick Coffee and order a Plain Croissant served with Butter paired with White.

While waiting I noticed that most of the customers were working from the area, doing meetings while having a brunch. Some were studying and/or working.

For me, Yardstick is one of the coffee place in Makati serving rich and creamy flat white.

The Plain Croissant with Butter was a good pairing to my White. It balances the flavor of the coffee.

Overall, the place was bright and spacious with cozy ambiance. Yes, it’s a nice place for meetings, studying or working alone, etc. The only issue with me is the CR, you need to go the main entrance of the building where the CR is located.

Finally tried Cold Brew No. 3! Forgive the pun but the beans that made Yardstick’s single-origin Cold Brew No. 3 was from the coffee origin itself - Ethiopia. The flavor is now more chocolatey, quite different from Cold Brew No. 1 which is bold and fruity. Coffee lovers leaning on strong coffee would love this!

Lemon Curd Waffle (@P230) is really so good with generous amounts of buttermilk and lemon curd. The waffle here at Yardstick is still l, by far, the best for me!

Finally got to try the Chicken & Waffles here last week after seeing countless of photos on IG! Hahaha. I must say, it was pretty darn good! Paired it with their Iced Flat White which was perfect for the hot weather. 128522

Early Sunday morning at Makati, and I’ve made up my mind that I’ll drop by at Yardstick since it’s been a while.

So the first thing I did is order my favorite; Vanilla Flat White. Imagine my shock when the Ate is quite skeptic if she would tell me the truth about it. Apparently, they’ve been out of Vanilla syrup/extract for a while now. There are some shortage in Madagascar that their supplier in Singapore is having a hard time to provide it to them. Since December, Vanilla Flat White is question mark in their menu. LUCKY FOR ME! Their new vanilla syrup is already in stock though they’re still mixing it well to see how far it can go compare to their usual. As a natural coffee lover and vanilla flat white admirer, I am up to the challenge of judging their new “vanilla syrup” for their flat white.

My judgment is … it’s good but the old one is better. The new vanilla extract is a little strong in flavor thus overpowering the coffee. Since it’s a flat white, the vanilla is overpowering the milk as well. I suggested lessening the vanilla extract so that you can still taste the soft blend of the coffee, milk and vanilla all together.

Ohhh I also had their ham and cheese croissant. I loved it! Quite pricey at Php 160 but not even a single amount is wasted. It’s flaky and soft. It has these great layer of ham, two layers to be honest. With some white cheese, and toasted cheese on top. It’s very filling to be honest. No regrets about having it.

Early Sunday morning at Yardstick means you can have the entire place for yourself. Quiet time, kind staff and very accommodating. Soundtrack is good too with lots of Beyonce earlier. Haha. I will always come back to them. Either them or Cartel actually. Always a fan of their coffee!

Aside from coffee, Yardstick’s pasta dishes are also a must try. Their Sardine Aglio Olio is light and has a good well-balanced flavor while their Salted Egg and Bacon is creamy but not overly rich which I absolutely enjoyed.

Iced chai tea latte. Not their forte. No tea aftertaste at all. Best to probably get your fix somewhere else.

Hot black. Legazpi beans were used which had tasting notes of cherry and chocolate. Not too acidic.

Shrimp aglio olio. It was delicious but personally it would have been better if spaghetti or linguine pasta was used, not angel hair. Serving is good enough for two.

There are already many third-wave cafes in the metro (especially in Makati) but Yardstick remains to be one of my favorites. Consistently good coffee, food, and the best service. Don’t hesitate to chat up the baristas. They’re always willing to share their knowledge and answer anything under the sun when it comes to coffee.

Had their Hummus & Mushroom paired with Yardshake. It was one good combo that filled me up. Oh, I also had a bite of their Sriracha Chicken Taco (I think that’s the name), and it was pretty good too! 128523

And this is a late post. Mwehehehe

Finally got to try their Naughty Matcha. Upon first whiff of the drink, you would instantly smell the cocoa scent. It really was enticing. The drink itself was okay. I was confused by the combination of cocoa and matcha. I prefer the sweet version. Maybe I’m traditional like that? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hehehe

Coffee is always my go-to drink here. But I just had to try their Matcha drinks. Their Iced Sweet Matcha lived up to my expectations. It was really good! Very smooth and very refreshing on a hot day. Might try the naughty version on my next visit 128523

It’s been ages since my last visit and super miss this place. It’s one of my favorite coffee shops that I even attended one of their talks before. Made me appreciate coffee brewing even more.

As for this cup here, it’s salt & pepper which made me really happy upon realizing that it is a peppermint drink! Yum yum 128523

Last Sunday, was a crafty day. I was with Cel C Almost the whole say. After our mini craft shopping in Greenbelt, we went straight to Yardstick to fuel ourselves with caffeine while we do our journaling.

I had an espresso drink, White (P160) for 8 oz. its actually a flat white. Bitter taste with hint of creaminess. I just love it! I just have one complain, it easily gets cold. Well its because of the milk i guess..

The spacious location of this coffee shop is perfect for hanging out. Their long tables are just perfect! We can do our thing in here. Plus points!

Spent the afternoon at Yardstick doing crafts. I like to do some crafty stuff here on a Sunday, less people and big table at the back is always available. Their coffee is kinda expensive but it's worth it coz it's really good. Nice bitter taste. I got White in large size (P180 + 10 service charge). I first got the medium size but was disappointed of how small the cup is. So on my second cup, I got the large one. It can get really expensive spending hours here. 128517

It's been a while since my last Yardstick visit so when I dropped by, glad only a few has changed except their diverse menu. They now serve steak and egg. I am surprised!! But all else stays the same, except the neighbor Your Local is louder nowadays.

So what I had is their Vanilla Flat White which is God sent when you want flat white but wanted to minimize the strong coffee flavor but wishes to maintain the same smooth texture with a hint of some sweet vanilla. This is your flat white version then. Haha. The Barista's breakfast will make you full. Except that it's a little greasy cause you have this sautéed mushroom which is salty by nature, crispy bacon, two sunny side up eggs. Sour and cream cheese is divine that comes with toasted bread. I almost didn't finish this one but it's worth a try. I just hope it's less greasy next time.

Wifi is okay. They have one but didn't get to really maximize it though. Staffs are very helpful and attentive. Besides the noise at Your Local, it's a good place for an evening chill or for ab early morning grab.

Salted Caramel Waffle128536128536. For 220php it is already good for 2 persons. I am more into pancakes than waffle but this one is an exemption. Quaint place to chill, study and relax❣️

Steak and coffee anyone? After trying out that combination over at Exchange Alley in Alabang, i knew i'd be doing the same at Yardstick when I saw their beef dish aptly called 'But First, Beef!'

Its inspired by Guatemalan Hilachas: Onglet (French name for a cut known as the hanger steak), Grilled Cabbage, Potato Crisps, Hilachas Sauce, Tomato Rice. The beef is a little chewier (but still tender) and more gamey tasting but that doesnt take away from how good this is overall. The gamey taste went hand in hand with the seasoning and the Hilachas sauce, i found myself wiping the plate clean.

Paired this with a Vanilla Flat White - Espresso, Madagascar Vanilla, Fluffy milk. Another winning cup from Yardstick!

I had real high expectations for Yardstick, at least when it comes to their coffee. After all, they hold coffee courses. Then I took one sip of their iced coffee and cringed in disappointment. It is highly acidic that I had a hard time trying to finish it. Actually, I didn't finish it. I couldn't, it's too damn sour that I wondered if I was drinking coffee or vinegar. I know there are people who like acidic coffee; not me. They probably over roasted the beans, whatever it is, I was not pleased with it. My friend had her coffee black and hot, and it tasted the same.

Good thing their salted egg pasta is a winner. I would even go as far as say that this is the best version that I've ever had, even better than Gino's Brick Oven.

It looks more like a classroom than a cafe and I think they made it so because of the courses/workshop that they offer. Most of their patrons are yuppies working in Makati.

I will come back, but only for their salted egg pasta.
