After having lunch, I wanted something sweet so I can eliminate the /very/ flavorful and meaty taste that's still lingering in my mouth. We were choosing between Merry Moo and Yo! Panda. Merry Moo did not have seats for their guests, and Yo! Panda had mixed reviews so I was not sure if it will be worth it. In the end, we srill chose the one where we can sit around to enjoy our desserts -- Yo! Panda it is, then.

Upon seeing the store, I was a bit excited to try their desserts since: the place was cute (okay totally unrelated, but aesthetics is very important for me), and you can actually see them preparing your dessert! 128156 I'm sold.

I let Josh pick our flavor (we planned to share our dessert cup since the serving size is big, and I don't want to be overwhelmed by the sweetness), since if I'm the one to choose, I will most probably choose the matcha variants. 128586 He chose Mango Cheesecake (he adores Mango desserts!).

✔ MANGO CHEESECAKE [with Vanilla and Chocolate Twist Soft Serve Gelato] (Php 190) - 11088110881108811088
The egg waffle was crispy on the outside, and soft and warm on the inside 128523 I like how its warmth contradicts the cold gelato soft serve, and helps the gelato melt easily as it reaches your tongue. We got the Twist gelato (vanilla and chocolate), and I'm glad we made the right choice! The taste was so balanced (not too sweet nor bland, contrary to the reviewes I've read), and the gelato was extremely creamy! 128525128158 This was topped with cheesecake bites and sliced mangoes, but I found the toppings to be lacking. 128546 There were just around 5 small cheesecake cubes, and a few slivers of mangoes. Good thing the mango was sweet, and the cheesecake bites tasted perfect. 128076 Though, I don't like how the bottom parts of the waffle are very soggy already since it was soaked in the melted gelato. 128557 The price is okay as 2 people can share this almost-200-peso cup, and get their much needed dessert fix in the form of this complex dessert item offering. 127846

Service was slow though. The place was not packed, but it took a long time before the dessert was served. There was just one person preparing the desserts, and since each cup has so many components to take care of, each dessert really took time to prepare. 128546 One of the servers seemed new, and was even reluctant to take our orders right away. 128530 I hope they can assign more people and have more equipment for their dessert area, so they can acquire more loyal customers who do not have to wait too long before enjoying their delicious sweet treats. 128076

I'd definitely recommend their Bubble Waffles - super yummy, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, I liked this better than the one in Hole in the Wall; but skip their savory dishes.

Tried this with my friends a while back after we were enticed inside by the promise of bubble waffles hahaha.

The place actually offers a bunch of Asian meals in the 200-300 peso price range. But we decided to just stick to what we came for haha.

Their egg waffles come in cups with soft serve ice cream and various toppings. We picked the Mango Cheesecake one. It took foreveerrrrrr to be served. 128533 And when we finally got to taste it, it was quite underwhelming. The soft serve tasted kind of weird, the cheesecake cubes were crumbly and bleh, although the mango slices were okay. The waffle itself was quite nice, though.

The best dish among those pictured is the roasted pork belly. Get ready to bite a juicy, tender meat with crackling crispy pork skin. Super yum! But just partnering it with an ordinary mustard sauce and fried egg makes it overpriced for P280.

I also like their shrimp chowder but the umay factor is strong on this one! It was missing something to balance the saltiness and creaminess. Still, I like it partnered with mantau. (Yun na ba yung balance factor?) They should also consider a curry crab version. That I will surely try!

Last dish is their spicy chicken bun, supposedly a best seller. It was ok, not very spicey for my taste. They used Korean chili paste (kochujang?) w/c is weird for a Chinese/HK resto.

Also I must warn you, the egg waffle station is located at the dining area, very strategic! It smelled sooo good, made it very tempting to order dessert as we finish our meals. 128517

The management (or owners) really makes a huge difference in people's perspective of a place... Their reception of criticism is the difference between &$¥£\%!<}@ to hell and hmmm, ok I might give it another try... Such is the case for Yo! Panda...

I really had high hopes for these eye catching desserts! I mean soft serve with bubble waffles-- sounds like a good idea right?

Execution is always a different story. They make their waffles from scratch, within view of the customers. I honestly found it annoying when I saw the staff more intent on gossiping rather than serving the customers. Case in point, we fell in line for the cashier. When it was our turn, I asked what was good. The cashier lady made a face and showed us the menu, pointing to the tres leches, matcha and chocolate flavors. I asked about the different soft serve & eggette flavors and she pouted once more before explaining the different kinds. Excuse me ate girl, it's not like you work at Starbucks where everyone is familiar with the menu. It's not like you only sell one kind of soft serve either! Don't give me your nguso face, it's unbecoming and 100% annoying.

After settling on tres leches for me and chocolate fudge for the fiancé, we were told that our orders will be ready in 30 mins. I think that information should have been volunteered before we paid for our orders, to give us the option to backout in case we were in a rush. Ate girl nguso kasi, super busy kasi. So we paid for our phone bills first and inquired about different plans. Looked at phone cases too, just to pass the time. When we came back, our orders still weren't ready. Nakakaikli ng pasensya kasi wala man lang apology. So we sat down and asked for water while we waited.

After 45 mins has passed, our orders were served. It was pretty with no layers-- sweet on sweet on sweet. After the initial excitement for picture taking, it was boring. The eggette was bland and the soft serve wasn't really milky. The white chocolate was super sweet, even mixed with the waffle. I found it expensive for the taste and of course the service. So NOT WORTH THE WAIT. I didn't bother to try the fiancé's order. He said it was too sweet and ended up not finishing the contents.

I already wrote off the place... However, the management's response to my negative experience made me feel valued as a consumer... I felt that they were geniunely apologetic about the experience and would truly make steps to improve the guests' experience. I wouldn't be surprised if they have already improved... Plus, they have succeeded in making me see their establishment in a better light...

Now, isn't that very sincere apology so much better than:

1) Bullying the customer about a negative review that will likely trend on social media? Well, I paid for the experience and I am obviously a savvy consumer. So why shouldn't I voice out a sucky experience? Aaaah, social media-- the double edged sword strikes again...

2) Creating accounts to give the place 5 stars to improve the restaurants rating? (Read: BUHAT BANGKO reviews) As if the users can't tell who are bogus reviewers, right?!128519 (oh, and that changes NOTHING)

3) Demanding to take down reviews (or remove their restaurant from the database) because it hurt their feelings? In the restaurant business, you have to have thick skin... Not everyone will like your resto and you can have off days. Unless the customer was super unreasonable, you can always learn from criticism. Chalk it up to experience and aim to IMPROVE.

How can you possibly devour that beauty??? 128561128525

Choco Matcha Jelly is a masterpiece! 128079🏼

I was walking with my sister at Megamall and we both felt the hunger 128513 Then magically we passed by Yo! Panda. Hey! I love panda so I was intrigued!

We had their waffle since the picture on their menu is sooooo enticing! I love matcha (well, who doesn't?) plus chocolate. 128523
Choco Matcha Jelly is the perfect choice! We ordered it in a hurry haha! After several minutes , it came! 128561128522 I cant explain the feeling I had when I saw the waitress walked towards our table. Oh my! Such beauty! 🙂

My first scoop was memorable, the flavors of matcha powder on their vanilla ice cream is massive! 128523 Their vanilla ice cream is full and milky. I love it so much that I had to blog it, agad agad! Hahaha

This is my new fave place for waffle desserts!

Btw, i don't know if their other foods are as good as their waffles or not, but I am settled for their desserts! 10084128525

After reading some mixed reviews about this place, we had to try it out for ourselves. I was interested with the giant xiao long bao but it was already phased out while other appetizers were unavailable. We opted for their tres leches dessert instead and sadly, it didn't meet my expectations. The soft serve gelato was watered down, the powdered milk was obviously store bought and the egg waffle was gummy and unappealing. It's sad that the food here are only IG-worthy; such a waste of concept.128542

The Crispy Pork Chop Noodle with Cheese Sauce is AMAZING!!!128561128557128524128516128557 The crispy pork chop is tender and the noodle is firm enough but it's the cheese sauce that made everything else 10x better. The serving size is also very generous that I felt so full while I still have a mouthful of noodles and 2 slices of pork left to devour. No wonder it's their best seller. 128557128557128557

I also got to try their bubble waffle in ice cream. We ordered the mango cheesecake flavor and yes, it was so good as well! No exaggerations. 128154128154128154

The service was soooo slow... we just ordered ice cream and it took forever! Although their sundaes were definitely instagrammable the taste was nothing special. The wait could have been worth it if the ice cream was really delish but sadly it wasn't so overall, I would not recommend this place. 128078

I loooved Yo Panda! (See below why it's just 4 stars)

The moment I saw a Yo Panda instagram post, I knew I would try it because the last time I ate egg waffles was in Hong Kong, as street food, and I don't really see much of it here in Manila. It even made me crave more because I saw that ice cream and chocolate will go with it!

I was so confused whether to order the Matcha or Chocolate Fudge because I wanted to try matcha but I was craving for chocolate! #confuzzzedgurl Of course, I didn't go wrong with the chocolate. It came to a point that it's too sweet and I thought that maybe I should've ordered just vanilla ice cream and not the twisted chocolate-vanilla. It has lots of chocolates already but brownie is my favorite. I also noticed that the waffle stick is not Stick-O but another cheaper brand, but the pic on the menu looks like it's Stick-O! (lol, yes it's a big deal because Stick-O is the best! Haha)

-1 star because we waited for 30minutes!!! At first we kept talking, looking at the menu over and over, and just watching other people eating until we realized our orders are not coming. After we got our orders, I overheard that the staff were informing other customers that egg waffles may take about 20-30minutes due to high demand. But we weren't informed earlier!

I'll come back and try Matcha but make sure they'll inform me how long I'll wait!

Yo! Panda, cute name, mediocre food.

We got the salted egg fries, crispy fish bao, cantonese style beef brisket & super xia long bao plus ube cheese waffle ice cream...

The fries was okay but it was screaming of taiwanese flavoring & we couldn't even trace the salted egg in it. Really salty too.

The crisy fish bao was ok. Bao was good, soft & sweet. The dressing tasted like kewpie. I mean come on, can't you make this from scratch at least.

Server said their best seller was the beef brisket bowl. I don't know how that happened but it was as bland as it can get. Beef was really super tender, good veggies in it too and very chunky radish though.

Now, I don't know what possessed my bf to order that gigantic xiao long bao and why I even let him. It was disgusting. I couldn't fathom sticking my straw after trying a bit and sipping all that yucky broth. The meat tasted like steamed meatballs. Best to be shared by 10peeps I reckon.

Now, the famous dessert, waffle is very tasty & good. Ice cream tasted artificial. Basically, an ok dessert.

The most amazing thing here for me is the service. Very accommodating manager and staff, quick service & billing too.

I got to Megamall a little early for the 2:30pm screening of The Girl on the Train. So I decided to have something to eat while waiting for my friend. Yo! Panda wasn't full, so I decided to dine here despite the mixed reviews, I wanted to give them a chance. 128513

I had:

| Yo! Panda Adobo Bao (Braised pork belly, crispy kangkong, crushed peanuts) ✳️✳️✳️✳️ (190php) I liked this one, it was flavorful, but I find it a bit pricey since the bao is small and there's only 4 pcs of 127839.

| Matcha (Italian gelato soft serve, matcha powder, egg waffle, rice crispies, and whipped cream) 127846127846127846 (180php) I was excited when it was served as I am a matcha fan, but unfortunately it waa nothing special. The soft serve tasted so plain as well as the egg waffle. 128553

| Mango Cheesecake (Italian gelato soft serve, egg waffle, cheesecake cubes, and fresh mango) 127846127846127846127846 (180php) my friend liked it.

The servers was nice and attentive, maybe because the place wasn't packed at that time. 128556

Yo! Panda is one of those restaurants that sports a catchy name.  One can't figure out what type of cuisine they specialise in.  Yo!  sounds American.  Panda,  on the other hand sound a lil bit Asian.

I've seen lukewarm reviews about this joint.  We are naturally drawn to the negative (scientifically proven,  notice that the media is always covering the bad news),  it is one of those things that our brain does.  Suffice to say that my curiosity got in the way and i wanted to find out for myself.

After hoarding stuff at the digital walker sale,  we decided to grab some grub at Yo!  Panda.  There are no lines and we got a table immediately.  I scanned the place with my watchful eye.  There is nothing really special about the interior.  It looks like any other restaurant - ordinary.

Grub.

¶ Crisy pork chop with cheese sauce and noodles (Php 280).  This is such a letdown.  They should call this crispy batter with pork chop as it is more appropriate.  Yes,  you got it right,  the proportions are off.  30% pork amd and 70% batter.  It's not cooked well as the batter is falling off when i tried to slice it.  The pork inside is too thin,  dry and lacks flavor. Then there's the noodles.  I cant figure out what type of noodles they used but it's  reminiscent of the instant kind.  The cheese sauce is a bad idea as it makes the dish cloying.

¶ Soft serve gelato x bubble waffle (Php 220).  This is the saving grace of the night.  I like the creamy consistency of the soft serve gelato.  The rice crispies and cheese drizzled on too blended well with soft serve.  And it is fun to eat rice crispies.  The waffle on the other hand is mediocre.  It is not as crispy as i wanted to be.  Placing the waffle inside the cup is not a good idea as it gets soggy after a couple of minutes.  I'm not sure if patrons have the option to have the waffle on the side instead of mixing it with the gelato.

As for the service,  they failed miserably.  The servers are all over the place,  it is just chaos.  They lack in the attentive department as i had to ask twice for a water refill and it is the same thing when i requested for the bill.  The table adjacent to mine had to deal with the server mismatching orders and delays in the food.

Now i understand the lukewarm reviews.

P. S.  Three stars as i liked the gelato x bubble waffle concoction.

Went here after the great banh mi experience since its just a few steps away.

I was looking forward to this one but was terribly disappointed.  I was first on waiting list but the server didnt exactly put my name on the list until the waiting queue was growing. Order their vanilla soft serve on waffle with matcha powder and cereal, waiting time was more or less 35 mins just for this dessert and it took me less than 10 minutes to finish it. It seems this was also the complain of other customers as they almost cancelled their orders. Even on a full house, i dont think half an hour justify the waiting time for a dessert that normally would just take few minutes especially those ones at hk.  The overall taste was mediocre, soft serve have the same texture like the one at circle k minus the sweethess, matcha powder was anything but matcha.  While the waffle was too soft, unlike those at hk that smells so good.

Thank heavens! I finally found the time to visit Yo! Panda last weekend after our event.

It was around dinner time when we decided to have desserts there and at around 7PM, the place was jam-packed! As in every corner was filled with people and there were a few groups waiting in line. As we were about to settle at the bar area, a group left and we were seated at the far end of the resto. The resto's really a bit small and the ventilation's not that good given that there was a cooking station there at the dining area.

The ceiling interiors were decorated with string lights that gave the place a hipster feel. The walls were designed with hedges, bricks, and wooden materials that gave it a very organic feel.

Because we were quite full when we arrived, we ordered two items for sharing, one sweet and another savory. We got the Matcha Bubble Waffle in Twist Soft Serve and the Pork Floss and Cheese Bubble Waffle.

For 120php, the Pork Floss and Cheese Bubble Waffle was so affordable given its really delicious taste. The size was good for sharing and I liked how soft and tasty the waffle was, made even better by the generously topped pork floss and cheese filling inside.

The Matcha Bubble Waffle didn't quite impress me. The chocolate and vanilla combination of soft serves were not that yummy for me. The matcha in it was just powder and a but of drizzled syrup that you'll find at the bottom of the cup.

I may go back here to try their dishes and Hong Kong Milked Tea but not that soon.
