I consider this my 2nd home studio. I still remember my first time to attend an Ashtanga class here and my teacher Michelle introduced me to the full primary series. I knew then that no matter where I go for my other yoga fixes, I'll always come back to Yoga Manila.
They call themselves purists of Ashtanga and that's why if you have an Ashtanga yoga practice, this is the best place to perfect your primary series asanas and sooner or later enter into the next series - be it Secondary and beyond. What I truly love about Yoga Manila is that the teachers really correct your posture, guide you into the poses, and you'll really feel that they're there and not just calling out the next pose. As someone who loves yoga and wants to constantly improve, I find that this is very important but is lacking in some classes in other studios that I've tried.
My favorite teacher now is Joji. She teaches Mysore classes on Wednesdays. There's something about the way she adjusts you - gentle yet firm and next thing you know voila! Your forehead is on the floor, or almost to your toes, or you've gone way deeper into your twists.
The room is always clean and smells nice (I mean It is Shangrila ü) And the plus side of going on Wednesdays is that you get to be classmates with some really advanced students and it's just so inspiring and amazing to see them do the poses that you only dream of being able to do for now. Ü
Whether you're just starting out or a seasoned practitioner, there's always a place for you here. Ü
P.S. For first time visitors, it's bring your own everything here - mat, mat towel, towel, water (you get the picture ü) But they do provide yoga props like blocks that you can use (I think they also have straps but I'm not so sure) and spritzers for your Garba Pindasana ü
