Yoga+ plus claims that "Yoga is for everybody and every body". Okay. I've never been into ohms, ahhs and body contortions nor have I been particularly athletic, but since my legs and ankles were starting to kill me during my runs, I decided to try yoga as a crosstraining exercise.

My first class was "hot" class, a set of 52 poses practiced in room heated to 37 degrees. I was anxious if I can do the poses, if I can keep up with my classmates, but my instructor told me that my only goal for that night was to keep my ass in the room for 90 minutes. And thankfully, I did. I felt like I ran a marathon. I felt a different kind of high. And I was very sore. I came back after a couple of days and since then I have been practicing bikram, vinyasa and core yoga 2-3 times a week for the last 3 months. And while it started out just as a side to running, yoga has become another love on its own. I run better these days, too :)

In Yoga+, the intructors continuously encourage you that one day, you will get the foot over your head, you will touch you forehead to your shins and you will be able to stay in headstand for 20 breaths. You only have to bring yourself and a tumbler, because the studio provides you with high quality Manduka mats, towels, and alkaline water. The studio itself can accomodate up to 30 people, has great flooring, lots of mirrors, and uses infrared heat that's also good for your skin (awesome afterglow after each session). Warm and cold showers, toiletries and secure lockers are also provided. There are a good number of classes so you can practice as early as 6.30am in the morning before work, squeeze in a power hour during lunch or unwind at night before going home. There are also a variety of classes to suit your personal style. I like the intensity and heat in Bikram, I never get bored with the variety of poses in Vinyasa and I'm slowly building upper body strength with core yoga. If you're nearer BGC, they have a studio there as well.

You can drop in any class or avail of the 1 week/1 month trial before commiting to a long time engagement.

If you're looking for a new challenge to your mind, body and spirit, please give yoga a try. And do it in any of the Yoga+ studios. Hopefully, you'll love the experience as much as I do :)
