a-YOLK-o sana, na ikaw ay mawawala, sino ba naman ako para pigilin ka. LAST KO NA YUN! 128517

Yolk cafe is one of my go to places already for breakfast during weekends. Aside from having the best eggs Ben in Cebu (try the bacon variant), I loooove the vibe of this place. It's your own posh getaway from the usual coffee shops you'd find in the metro.

The interiors are every hipsters dream: mellow natural lighting, travel inspired designs, and wood and polished white bricks all over. 128525

I do love their food but sometimes it's a hit and miss for some of the items. I'd advise you to stick to the following (based on what I've tried):
128073🏼 Fat boy combo (bacon, chorizo, and ham. Hell yeah!)
128073🏼 Eggs Benny - Bacon (I prefer this over the humba one)
128073🏼 Mushroom and Bacon with soft boiled egg
128073🏼 Cafe Latte or their flat white
128073🏼 Aeropress coffee

If you stick to that, I'm sure you won't have any issues and you can just relax, unwind, and enjoy your food.

It's also nice to note that this place is such a good go to for quiet me times. I usually see less than 3 people there to study (versus 300 in Starbucks... Oy, relax hahaha)

I'd have to say that if you want any dish with eggs for you breakfast, then you found the right place!

To summarize (like what I do in my IG chubbyperohappy):
128073🏼128176Value for Money: 4 yums
128073🏼128523 Taste: 4 yums
128073🏼️️️9970 Ambiance: 5 yums
128073🏼128129🏻 Service: 4.5 yums
128073🏼128076🏼 Overall happiness: 4 yums
*The scale is 1 to 5; 5 being the highest*

It's been about 2 weeks since my sister visited me here in Cebu but I am only finding time now to write about the places we went to then. Talk about being too busy. 128569

I took my sister here as recommended by my colleague. I really wanted to go to Birdseed because of JP G's posts, but Cebuano locals still have higher praises for this joint, so I went with my gut and decided to trust the locals.

We went here on a sunny Saturday morning, around 9:30 AM, just the perfect time for brunch. I saw on existing posts that serving size here is quite large so we knew we'd be full until dinner time. True enough, we were.

I'm not a big coffee drinker, but my sister sure is. She told me to order a cup too so she can taste more from their drink menu. She had the Café Mocha (Php 130) while I ordered the Flat White (Php 110). They use coffee from Dutch Colony Coffee Co., apparently a really good supplier / company of coffee in Singapore. I really liked the Flat White, it had a well balanced coffee and milk flavor. It was smooth and velvety, really nice. But I loved my sister's Mocha much more. The chocolate flavor was bold but not overpowered by the coffee. It was so good! Plus the latte art was just too pretty. 128571

I ordered the Chorizo and Eggs in a Pan and went with garlic rice to pair it with (you can also choose salad and toast instead of rice). Whether you get it with rice or salad and toast, it is priced at Php 310. Quite steep for Cebu pricing, though the serving size was indeed on the bigger side. I really liked this dish, but it was quite salty for my taste. I'm honestly not a big fan of Spanish Chorizo, but this dish has received props from a number of reviews online so I had to try it. I wish they'd make a Cebuano version of this using the sweet and spicy chorizo I have grown to love here as a local cuisine. 128568

My sister had the All Beefed Up with Potato Hash and Eggs, Php 269. In all honesty, this dish for me was just ok. And just when I thought my dish was too salty, this dish went to an even higher level of saltiness. The meat was tender, and the pieces of potato somehow toned down the saltiness, but it was just that for me - salty. 128575 I think the price for this was just right though.

My sister fell in love with their interiors too. It is very conducive for enjoying coffee and a good book for several hours. The displays were all so adorable too. It was a very nice place for photos.

All in all, this place is great place to start your day! Truly a hidden gem in Cebu, this is definitely a must-try on your next visit! 128571

We come to Yolk once in awhile for Sunday breakfast. Today we didn't have such a great opportunity. It was very difficult to place an order with the waitress. she wasn't familiar with the menu. I had asked the waitress if I could request my Croque Madame be made on wheat bread instead of the Italian loaf. My husband asked if he could have All Beefed Up with either easy over or poached. He received his order first and the egg was over well. 10 min later I finally received my order. It was on the Italian loaf. First of all, if the cook can't make eggs to order, that's a problem for a breakfast spot. Secondly, if they didn't want to honor our requests, let us know ahead of time so I could have changed my order. Then to deliver my food pretending there is nothing wrong with it, this is where I start to lose my patience. I hate when servers are too scared to speak up. Either acknowledge there is a problem or question why it was not made as ordered. Don't try to pass it off and think you can get away with it. She had even said she would ask the cook it I could substitute the bread. She didn't come back so I was under the impression it was ok. We ended up not paying.

Perfect breakfast/brunch place! The specialty coffee is brewed at your table in front of you, and the eggs are perfectly cooked! Recommended for those who like eggs (in whatever way) to start their day.

I'm going loco over their Bacon and Mushroom dream! It's my favorite breakfast dish from this restaurant and knowing how important breakfast is for everyone, having this means pure indulgence and heaven. Combining two of my favorites: eggs and bacon, it's actually the best breakfast I had experienced so far. It taste so good, flavourful, that kind that can give you an extra kick to do your daily job. The salad included in this order is a never-to-ignore as well. Plus, the place is extra warm, cozy, perfect for book readers like me. I will sure come back here. 128516

Fresh, warm and cozy, Yolk is a hole-in-the-wall breakfast place in Cebu City.

Upon entering the inside of this restaurant, I instantly felt at home with its nice and cute interiors that highlight travel inspired designs.

All of their dishes have eggs in them, as the resto name says itself.

My most favorite from our orders were the French Toast, Chorizo Sisig and my Chorizo & Tomato Omelette!

I feel so at home here. I love the interiors and the in-house music. Really good food, I especially like the Chorizo and Eggs, and the Eggs Benny. Vegetarian dishes are also available! Coffee is awesome too.

This chic restaurant with a feel-good vibe and an impressive selection of yummy treats & coffee collection is a whole new way to enjoy a meal not just every morning but all throughout the day.

I’ve chance on this upscale dining restaurant a few days back from a mobile app which I found out is extremely competitive to other restaurants serving breakfast dishes; definitely a must try place to indulge. And if you haven’t noticed yet, as the name suggests, most of their dishes are served with sunny side up eggs.

The place is appealing to customers and returning patrons because the ambience is homey what with the brick walls, wooden furniture; makes you want to relax into the comfy couches and hug the throw pillows as if you’re at home drinking coffee or just munching on the extensive food menu.

Chorizo and Eggs in a Pan with toast and salad was palatable though you might want to choose the garlic rice instead of the toast and salad.

All Beefed Up homemade, slow corned beef with potato hash, topped with eggs and a choice of toast and salad or garlic rice was appetizing. The beef was tender and complements well with the soft potato hash and sunny side up eggs.

The menu at Yolk also is being set apart from the usual and generic cafe because it can be considered as a hipster's new found eating haven. So if you're a person who dares to be different then you know where to go.
