Since I'm in the business of writing about cheap and great food today, when in Baler, Yolly's Ihaw-ihaw is the place to be. 128514128514

Our last day in Baler, my companions brought us in this two-floor carinderia/restaurant in the town proper, just infront of Mercury Drugstore near the Museo de Baler.

When we arrived, I didn't pay much attention until I saw what's inside the glass case typical in carinderias. My eyes almost popped out. The very orange lobsters and spanner crabs (curacha) were sitting prettily inside the case waiting for me to devour them all!

It was a moment that I needed to capture. I mean, how often can you see lobsters and spanner crabs offered in carinderias?? 128552

I asked the lady (that also looked like she was the owner) the price for each. She said it depends on the weight (but of course). But the price range was from 350 to about 600. I almost ordered everything. Lol. Just kidding. 128513

We ordered 2 spanner crabs and 1 lobster and had it cooked in butter and garlic, 1 order of crispy lechon kawali, 1 large grilled blue marlin, 2 large fried tilapia, 1 large bowl of bulalo, 2 large grilled liempo, about 9 or so cups of rice, drinks, mangoes, and a dessert. 128513128513

Everything was good taste-wise: The crispy lechon kawali had a sinfully crispy skin (although a tad tough on the meaty part), the grilled blue marlin looked homecooked and also had the goodness of a homegrilled fish, the bulalo was piping hot and very good... but of course my attention was focused on the lobster and the curachas. Because when I have these in places that are not expected to have lobsters, it's usually not cooked properly or the lobster itself is not fresh. To my delight, both the lobster and the curachas are cooked with people like me in mind. 128522 These beauties, although small in size, was very meaty! I like lobsters but I love curachas. And as expected, the curachas did not disappoint, they're juicier and more flavourful. Plus the way it was cooked was impeccable! I loved how the salty-umami taste of the butter with the crispy garlic mixed well with the freshness of the seafood's meat. 128522

I wanted to order more but was Afraidy Aguilar of what it'll do to my heart and blood. 128513128513128513

No wonder this place is always packed. 128522

And for everything we had, we only paid about 3k or so. We were 9 people. 6 hungry adults and 3 boys. 128513

I left with a heart full of gratitude and happiness and vowed to eat there again when I go back to Baler. 128522

If you're looking for cheap places to eat in Baler, this one is definitely better than Gerry Shan's. Good thing our tourist guide brought us here. We did not try grilled seafoods because they are pre-grilled and didn't look fresh but their sinigang soup and pork barbecue(made to order) are good! Most of their viands cost only P60/serving.

More than six hours of drive from Metro Manila To Baler Aurora and we were welcomed with rain falls! We are so excited about this trip but it's raining and our itenerary from the day would all be delayed. We decided to take the City tour but it's still raining. It's cold and we are frustrated and we wanted to make most of this journey so all of us craved for a tasty and hot Bulalo. Our driver brought us here and as if we've seen the golden pot. The Bulalo good for six persons is priced at 400 pesos which I think is reasonable enough. Plus the sabaw is unlimited! Our orders arrived quickly and we started sipping the sumptous soup of the Bulalo and it was all we could ask for despite the grumpy weather. The meat was just right and the soup is so delicious and hot! It's definitely a must try!

A lot of choices to choose from not just seafood and not just grilled. Food taste good also. However, it was expensive. Presyong turista. The place was hot and bad service also. Hindi sulit.

One would think that seafood would be served in restaurants near the beach. Think again. Yolly's Ihaw-Ihaw & Seafood Resto is located within Baler's town proper. It's a great place to bring a large group of friends and family vacationing in Baler. You can tell the place is good when it's fully packed and you see cooks consistently pushing out product.

Yolly's serves not only local Filipino dishes, but they specialize in seafood as well. You might say, "Duh, Rocky! Seafood IS part of the restaurant's name!" But living here in the Philippines, sometimes the name is just that--the name.

They have an array of seafoods (pricing depends on size) including, lobsters, coracha crabs, sugpo (large prawns), freshwater shrimp and blue marlin which can be cooked to your preference. In addition, the staff were very joyous, which only made our stay even better.
